‘Better than America…': Nitin Gadkari asserts India's roads to be comparable to US in 2 years, adds ‘main picture yet to start'

India's road infrastructure would rival that of America within two years, Union Minister
Nitin Gadkari
said on Monday. Highlighting Modi government's increased investment in roads and highways during the past decade, Gadkari said that projects are progressing well.
"The question is not about the facelift, it has already changed. You have just watched the news reel, the main picture is yet to start,' Gadkari told ANI. He mentioned that certain American visitors had acknowledged that India's infrastructure surpassed their own. 'Some people from America met me and said our infrastructure is better than America,' he said.
'The projects in the pipeline are progressing rapidly. In another two years, you will be able to see that Indian road infrastructure will be similar to that of America," the Minister of Road Transport and Highways said when questioned about the transformation of Indian roads.

Gadkari explained that the improved road network developed by the government has decreased logistics expenses in India, which will enhance export competitiveness.
"If we raise our exports, it will improve our agricultural sector, manufacturing, and services, among all other sectors," he said.
Gadkari highlighted that India's primary challenge in the past has been its high logistics cost of 16%, compared to China's 8% and the US and European nations' 12%.
"Our roads were not good, our ports were not good. Traffic congestion raised costs," he explained. The Modi government has successfully reduced logistics costs to 9% through enhanced road infrastructure, according to Gadkari. "This reduced cost will make us export competitive," he reiterated.
The minister outlined ongoing projects, including 25 greenfield expressways, a 3,000 km port connectivity highway, and religious tourism circuit roads valued at Rs 1 lakh crore.

He highlighted plans for connecting Buddhist circuits and ensuring all-weather access to Char Dhams.
"We are developing 36 tunnels between Jammu and Srinagar; 23 have been completed, and works for another 4-5 are underway," Gadkari said. "We are developing 15 ropeways under Parvatmala Yojana, besides 35 multi-modal logistics parks."
India maintains the world's second-largest network of roads, with National Highways extending approximately 146,000 kilometres, serving as the nation's crucial transport arteries.

Telangana RTC hikes bus pass fares
Hyderabad: The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) increased bus pass fare across all categories by 20–30 per cent. Jain community is not a job seeker, but a job provider: Gadkari
Nagpur: In a fast-evolving world, quality education plays critical role in shaping the future, said Union minister for road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari while addressing a packed audience at Sakal Jain Yuva Sangh's student felicitation programme on Sunday. "Our aim is that every student in Nagpur should have access to quality education," he said, outlining the ongoing efforts to transform the region into an educational and employment hub. Gadkari mentioned key educational initiatives, including the Symbiosis International University in Wathoda, which currently educates many underprivileged students, and a major KG to PG education facility near Bhandewadi. He also highlighted employment gains, noting that 90,000 youth from Vidarbha have secured jobs in MIHAN, and that global companies are investing in biotech and manufacturing in the region. Held at Indra Bhavan auditorium in Itwari, 180 outstanding students from Sakal Jain community who scored above 80% marks in their 10th and 12th board exams were felicitated. "Jain community is not a job seeker, but a job provider," Gadkari said, encouraging students to pursue entrepreneurship and leverage emerging opportunities, such as the upcoming commercial textile park on Empress Mill land on Subhash Road in the city. The event saw participation from prominent Jain leaders and dignitaries, including Santosh Jain Pendhari, Dilip Rakhe, Jagdish Gillarkar, Anand Maujilal Jain, and others, who lit the ceremonial lamp to inaugurate the program. Mangalacharan was performed by Asmita Dongaonkar and her team. Suraj Jain Pendhari and Sonu Singhai handled stage management, while Bahubali Palsapure, president of Sakal Jain Yuva Sangh, welcomed the guests. Rs 125 crore factory complex near medical device park to boost startups
Noida: Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has launched a tender for a flatted factory complex spanning 38,665 sqm near its 350-acre medical device park in Sector 28. The Rs 125-crore complex is to be completed within 24 months and is expected to boost the entry of MSMEs and startups in the area. The complex, proposed to be a five-storey industrial space offering plug-and-play units with built-in utilities and shared amenities, like cafeterias, exhibition halls, parking space, retail shops and lifts, will offer 252 office units on a rental basis to startups to lower entry barriers. YEIDA CEO Arun Veer Singh said the complex is among the 11 factory complexes proposed off the Yamuna Expressway. "Flatted factory complexes support the state's vision of becoming a leading industrial hub with a focus on MSMEs and startups. Each of these complexes is proposed to be tailored for proposed industrial parks like medical device, semiconductor, IT, apparel and toy. NEA has 3,600 registered members in the city, dealing in different businesses. While Noida does not have any designated factory complexes, the concept has found standing in the city, too. With high land and rental costs, several small-scale industries such as furniture, handicrafts, and packaging currently operate out of smaller office buildings in sectors 6, 9, and 10, while some factories operate out of UPSIDA industrial area in Surajpur.
