Paul McCartney is going on tour — but Bay Area fans are out of luck

Paul McCartney is hitting the road again — but Northern California fans will have to travel to see him.
The Beatles legend announced Thursday, July 10, that his Got Back tour will return to North America this fall, marking his first major U.S. outing since 2022. The 19-city trek begins Sept. 29 in Palm Desert (Riverside County) and wraps up with back-to-back shows at Chicago's United Center on Nov. 24 and 25.
Notably absent from the itinerary is the Bay Area. McCartney last played the region during his 2022 tour, when he performed two sold-out nights at Oakland Arena.
Despite the omission, excitement for the tour remains high following his three-night run at New York's Bowery Ballroom earlier this year. Billboard called the shows 'a religious experience,' while NPR raved, 'Paul McCartney has so much swag it's ridiculous.'
The 2025 tour includes long-awaited returns to cities such as Las Vegas, Denver, Atlanta, Nashville and New Orleans.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. July 18.
The Grammy-winning musician hinted at the tour announcement earlier this week by posting a cryptic photo of two guitar picks to his Instagram story on Wednesday, July 9, that included a link to a page on his website where fans can sign up for 'information on tour dates, pre-sales and much more.'
A nod to the Beatles' 1969 hit 'Get Back,' McCartney's Got Back tour launched in April 2022 and has since spanned five continents. This year's edition features McCartney's longtime band and the Hot City Horns.
While Bay Area fans won't get a local stop, they can still visit ' Paul McCartney Photographs 1963–64: Eyes of the Storm,' now extended at San Francisco's de Young Museum through Oct. 5. The exhibition features more than 250 photographs taken by McCartney documenting the Beatles' rise to fame.
For those eager to see a Beatle live in Northern California, Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band is scheduled to perform at Ironstone Amphitheatre in Murphys in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains on Sept. 21. The ensemble features Steve Lukather, Colin Hay and others.

1 Instagram post about Taylor Swift is a 'New Heights' clue

Swifties were sent into a frenzy on Monday morning as the New Heights podcast dropped an announcement that they'd be having a special show with a surprise guest on Wednesday night. New Heights, which is hosted by the NFL brother duo of Jason and Travis Kelce, usually teases guests with silhouettes and context clues. This time around, there are a lot of hints as to why the special guest might actually be pop star Taylor Swift. Fans of both the singer and the Kelce podcast have been begging for Travis to bring his 14-time Grammy winning girlfriend on the show, and this might be the closest we've gotten to this maybe coming true. The initial New Heights post on social media naturally got everyone's attention with Jason's Eras Tour shirt, the familiar outline and the breaking news. But the clowning dialed up a notch with Taylor Nation's -- the official Taylor Swift social media account -- post 12 minutes after New Heights' did. While 13 is the number most associated with the The Tortured Poets Department singer, this time 12 is significant because the next album will be her 12th. Not only was the Taylor Nation post 12 minutes after New Heights, it included 12 photos with the caption "Thinking about when she said 'see you next era,'" in reference to her Eras Tour book. All of those pictures also featured the orange and purple palate that Swifties have assigned to the next album. Will we get some more information on Wednesday? We'll just have to wait and see.

Mary J. Blige Blasts Misa Hylton's $5M Lawsuit, Accuses Her Of Harassment

Mary J. Blige is pushing back against a $5 million lawsuit filed in April by fashion stylist Misa Hylton, her company M.I.S.A. Management, and rapper Vado. According to AllHipHop, the Grammy-winning singer filed a motion through her legal team this week seeking to have the lawsuit thrown out, calling the case 'utterly meritless' and accusing the plaintiffs of attempting to stir up drama for publicity. Hylton's lawsuit claims that Blige intentionally interfered with her business relationship with Vado, a rapper who signed a recording contract with Blige's Beautiful Life Productions in October 2023. According to the suit, Blige allegedly encouraged Vado to sever ties with Hylton and instead work with her head of security, who Hylton claims is also Blige's boyfriend. The suit further claims that Blige has shelved Vado's completed album until he agrees to drop M.I.S.A. Management, which reportedly stood to earn 20% of the rapper's income from album sales, live performances, and other ventures. Blige's attorney, Sarah M. Matz, did not hold back in her response, stating, 'Plaintiffs and their counsel appear to enjoy fabricating accusations that will be discussed in the press and on social media for the purposes of harassing Defendants and trying to coerce a favorable settlement.' In a sharply worded filing, Blige's legal team argued that M.I.S.A. Management lacks legal standing in the case, with Matz stating, 'It is stunning that Plaintiffs and their counsel attempt to assert claims on behalf of this non-existent entity.' The motion also challenges the legitimacy of the claims made by Hylton and Vado, noting that Hylton is not a party to Vado's contract with Beautiful Life Productions and therefore has no grounds to sue. 'Vado's claims fare no better. Asserting a breach of contract claim against Blige individually is by itself sanctionable. Blige is not a party to Vado's recording agreement nor has any other basis been pled against Blige, making it clear she was included solely for purposes of harassment,' Matz continued. Blige is not only asking the court to dismiss the claims with prejudice—preventing them from being refiled—but is also seeking damages and full reimbursement of all legal fees associated with defending against the suit. Shortly after the lawsuit made headlines, Blige took to social media to post a cryptic message that many fans interpreted as a response to the legal drama. 'If people don't reciprocate your love, time, and energy they are not good investments. Get rid of them asap and take care of you,' she wrote on X. 'Love You!' Metallica's In The Middle Of A Huge Week On The Billboard Charts

When it comes to Metallica and the Billboard charts this week, the focus is on the group's self-titled full-length. That project brings the hard rock legends to a milestone that only a very small number of artists in history have reached — but it's not the only exciting thing happening with the Grammy winners. Multiple titles connected to Metallica return to various tallies this frame, as fans continue to buy and stream everything the band has released, not just its namesake bestseller. Master of Puppets Returns to Top Album Sales Metallica is one of two titles by the band of the same name to appear on at least one Billboard chart. As that set soars on multiple rankings, Master of Puppets reenters the Top Album Sales ranking. The decades-old project is once again a bestseller as it breaks back onto the list of the bestselling projects in the country at No. 44. Luminate reports that sales of the fan favorite increased by almost 21% week over week, with just under 2,900 pure purchases. 'Enter Sandman' Returns to a Global Chart Metallica only claims one hit song on any Billboard chart, and 'Enter Sandman' is once again that classic. The single rises to No. 9 on the Hard Rock Streaming Songs roster as it finds its way back to the Billboard Global 200. The band once again scores one of the 200 most consumed songs around the planet, as 'Enter Sandman' flies back to No. 194 after not finding space on the list at all just days ago. The decades-old cut, regarded as one of the most important in hard rock history, has only spent six weeks on the list throughout the years, and it has previously topped out at No. 177. Metallica Joins Pink Floyd and Bob Marley Metallica, the album, hits 800 weeks on the Billboard 200 this frame as it rises to No. 154. It's just the fourth release in history to make it to that milestone on the hugely competitive tally, following The Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd, Legend by Bob Marley and the Wailers, and Greatest Hits by Journey. Metallica lives on a trio of tallies at the moment. In addition to the Billboard 200, it returns to the top 40, landing at No. 40 on the Top Rock & Alternative Albums chart, and dips a single spot on the Top Hard Rock Albums list. A Legacy of Chart and Sales Dominance Released in August 1991, Metallica — often referred to as The Black Album — marked a commercial breakthrough for the band. It was powered by smash hits like 'Enter Sandman,' 'The Unforgiven,' and 'Nothing Else Matters,' which still rank among the most successful from the harder side of rock music. The behemoth has moved at least 20 million copies in the U.S. alone, making it one of the top performers of all time.
