Coolie Ending Explained: Aamir Khan's Surprise Cameo And Its Connection To LCU
Rajinikanth's much-awaited Coolie hit theatres on Thursday, just in time for the Independence Day weekend. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the film boasts a powerhouse ensemble featuring Nagarjuna, Upendra, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, and a surprise debut from Aamir Khan in Tamil cinema. The Bollywood superstar's cameo as Daaha in the climax has sparked a flurry of fan theories, especially around whether the film ties into the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU).
Aamir Khan's Cameo As Daaha In Coolie's Ending
The story follows Deva (Rajinikanth), who infiltrates the empire of Simon (Nagarjuna) to avenge the death of his friend Rajashekhar (Sathyaraj). As the narrative unfolds, it is revealed that Simon is merely a pawn in a larger global syndicate headed by the mysterious Daaha.
In the climax, Aamir Khan makes a dramatic entry as Daaha, accompanied by Mahesh Manjrekar as his father, Kaakar. Their history ties back to a massacre 35 years prior, deeply entwined with Deva and Simon's past. Surprisingly, Daaha spares Deva after witnessing Simon's downfall, while Kaakar agrees to leave Deva's coolies unharmed. Daaha even extends an invitation to Deva to join forces with him, though Deva remains elusive in his response.
The reveal has left audiences intrigued, particularly since this marks Aamir's first Tamil film appearance, adding a fresh layer of star power to Coolie.
Is Coolie A Part Of The Lokesh Cinematic Universe?
Fans had high expectations that Coolie would tie into Lokesh Kanagaraj's interconnected universe that includes Kaithi, Vikram, and Leo. Each of these films has featured post-credit teasers or character overlaps that expanded the LCU mythology.
However, unlike Leo's direct link to Vikram via Kamal Haasan's voice cameo, Coolie stands as a standalone film. Lokesh had clarified during promotions that Coolie was not part of the LCU, and indeed, there is no post-credits sequence hinting otherwise. Additionally, Aamir's Daaha has no connection to Rolex (played by Suriya), the notorious villain of the LCU.
That said, Coolie is already smashing box office records. With advance bookings crossing Rs 100 crore, the Rajinikanth-starrer is on track to challenge Leo for one of the biggest openings in Tamil cinema history.
Featuring Nagarjuna, Upendra, Shruti Haasan, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, and Aamir Khan in pivotal roles, the film blends star power with Lokesh's trademark mass action. Whether or not it belongs to the LCU, Coolie has carved its own unique space.

Shwetha Menon Scripts History As AMMA's First Female President; Cuckoo Parameshwaran Secures Landmark Win
Last Updated: Shwetha Menon became the first female President of AMMA, with Cuckoo Parameshwaran elected as General Secretary, marking a historic leadership shift. In a landmark moment for the Malayalam film industry, women have, for the first time, won two key posts in the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (A.M.M.A). Actress Shwetha Menon created history by becoming the first female President of the association, while Cuckoo Parameshwaran became the first woman to be elected General Secretary. Ansiba Hassan was elected unopposed as the Joint Secretary. The elections were held following the resignation of the previous committee, led by Mohanlal, in August 2024. The committee had stepped down after allegations of sexual harassment against some of its office bearers, including Siddique and Babu Raj, surfaced in the controversial Hema Committee report. For the President's post, Shwetha Menon contested against actor-turned-BJP leader Devan. Cuckoo Parameshwaran faced veteran actor Raveendran in the race for General Secretary. Speaking after her victory, Shwetha Menon said, 'Thank you to all the family members. Media, thank you so much for coming. You were all telling till now that we need women at the head of A.M.M.A and now it has happened. Hope we will get the support." In July 2025, nominations for the 17-member executive committee of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (A.M.M.A), and with nearly 110 nomination forms were taken for the electoral battle. The association currently has around 500 members. Kerala HC recently ordered interim stay on proceedings in FIR against Shwetha Menon Earlier this month, a case was registered against Shwetha Menon based on a complaint alleging that she acted in films and advertisements containing obscene and vulgar content with the intent of earning money. Shwetha approached the Kerala High Court seeking to quash the case, and the court has now quashed further proceedings. The development came at a crucial time, amid Shwetha contesting for the post of president in the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (A.M.M.A). The elections were scheduled for August 15. With growing support for her candidature, there was increasing speculation that the association might get a woman president for the first time. Who is Shwetha Menon? An accomplished performer, Shwetha Menon is a two-time winner of the Best Actress award at the Kerala State Film Awards. She has worked extensively in Malayalam and Hindi cinema, and was crowned Femina Miss India Asia Pacific in 1994. Shwetha Menon and Cuckoo Parameshwaran's historic win in top A.M.M.A position marks a significant shift in the leadership of the influential industry body, signalling greater representation for women in Malayalam cinema's governing bodies.
