Hearing set for troubled Kansas City funeral home, facing possible disciplinary action
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The State of Missouri now has a hearing set for June regarding potential disciplinary actions against Savory and Sons Funeral Home after .
The problems at the Kansas City funeral home stem from having an unlicensed worker handle client business and funeral arrangements. Under Missouri guidelines, a licensed funeral director must both coordinate and supervise funeral services.

In late 2020, the board found Savory and Sons was conducting business and representing themselves without a funeral establishment license.
The board decided to grant them a license under probation with specific terms for three years.
Then in July 2023, a probation violation. The documents state 'Savory and Sons' failed to timely renew its preneed provider and preneed seller licenses, and made a false statement regarding renewal on its Report of Compliance' and that 'A licensed funeral director did not supervise the arrangements or contract.'
The violations extended their probationary period for two more years.
In March 2024, a woman filed a complaint, saying she didn't have her father's cremated remains two months after his passing.
Communication and arrangements were all done through owner Frank Savory.
The problem is that Savory is not licensed funeral director, therefore, violating state statute.
As of March 19 of this year, the woman still didn't have her father's remains, hadn't received photos paid for as part of the funeral service and never got his clothes back.
Now a hearing is set for June 10 in Jefferson City, which could lead to more disciplinary actions against the funeral home.

Multiple buildings evacuated due to gas leak on Southwest Boulevard
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Spire is on scene and working to contain a gas leak Thursday afternoon in Kansas City's Westside neighborhood.
