Taylor Swift Reveals Hilarious Xavier Worthy Draft Story on Travis Kelce's Podcast

In what was arguably the most anticipated podcast episode, possibly ever, pop star Taylor Swift appeared on Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce's "New Heights" podcast, which he co-hosts with his brother Jason Kelce.
One of the first topics of discussion was how the podcast was actually responsible for Kelce and Swift's relationship after the 10-time Pro Bowler admitted during a 2023 episode that he actually wanted to give the "Fortnight" singer a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it during one of her shows at Arrowhead Stadium, but his timing didn't work out.
A clip from that show went viral, prompting Swift to reach out to Kelce, and two years later they're still going strong.
While Kelce's public support for Swift and her "Eras Tour" last year was well-documented (he and Jason hyped the world tour up several times on "New Heights" last year), Swift opened up about her growing into a big football fan in support of Kelce.
The 14-time Grammy winner disclosed that she didn't know what a first down was, what the NFL's chain gang, or even what a tight end was before dating Kelce, but now she says she's a huge football fan.

More"I am forever grateful for you diving into the football world, wholeheartedly," Kelce said during Wednesday's "New Heights" podcast.
In fact, Swift even knew a bit of Chiefs news before Kelce did.
The "Shake It Off" singer revealed that on draft night in 2024, she found out the Chiefs had drafted former Texas standout wide receiver Xavier Worthy before Kelce even knew.
"I fell in love with it," Swift declared. "I became obsessed with it, I became like a person who was running through the halls of my house screaming, 'We just drafted Xavier Worthy,' and my friends were like what is...who body snatched you? What do you mean we drafted Xavier Worthy?"
"I forget where I was, but you were the first person to tell me we drafted the fastest man in the draft," Kelce chimed in.

Chiefs owner opens up on Taylor Swift ‘whirlwind' — and the complete change she ‘unintentionally' ushered in
The Taylor Swift effect has reached the Chiefs, according to owner Clark Hunt. During an interview on 'The Pat McAfee Show' on Friday, Hunt discussed the effect Swift's relationship with Travis Kelce has had on his organization following her appearance on the tight end's 'New Heights' podcast. Hunt was nothing short of positive when discussing Swift — specifically citing her impact with female Chiefs fans over recent seasons. Advertisement 3 Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt watches practice during Back Together Weekend at the team's NFL football training camp, Sunday, July 27, 2025, in St. Joseph, Mo. AP 'It's been a whirlwind, I would say, for the organization over the last two years since Taylor literally stepped into our lives. She's done an amazing job, unintentionally, of increasing our female fanbase. 'We used to be about a 50-50 ratio, male-to-female fanbase, and now 57 percent of our fans are female, which I think is probably the highest in the National Football League. So there's absolutely been a Taylor Swift effect.' 'Let me just say how happy we are for their relationship,' Hunt said. 'They're an amazing couple, and watching the two of them together is really special. That podcast, seeing them side by side talking about their relationship, was absolutely amazing.' 3 Hunt says that Swift and Kelce make an 'amazing couple.' New Heights/Youtube Advertisement During her time on the 'New Heights' podcast on Wednesday, the 14-time Grammy winner opened up about her 'rookie' NFL season during the early stages of her and Kelce's relationship, revealing the moment that means the most to her from that year. Swift, who started dating Kelce in 2023, said she cherished the moment when Kelce's mother invited her down to the field to celebrate the Chiefs' AFC Championship game win in 2024. 'The first time I stepped on the field, which would have been when you won the AFC Championship, the first season that I was with you, and it was in Baltimore, and we're in the suite and you just won the AFC Championship, we're freaking out and everybody's screaming, and [Travis'] mom goes, 'Alright, let's go down to the field,'' Swift, 35, said during the podcast. 'I was like, 'What, we're doing, what do you mean? We're going where?' And she's like, 'We're going down to the field,' and I was like, 'Did he say that that's OK?' Cause we hadn't talked about this.'

Browns QB Shedeur Sanders Receives New Major Injury Update
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Fresh off an impressive 138-yard, two-touchdown performance in the Cleveland Browns' 30-10 win over the Carolina Panthers last weekend in their preseason opener, fans were likely excited to see what rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders planned to do for an encore in the second week of the preseason. But as the team has been preparing to play the Philadelphia Eagles Saturday at Lincoln Financial Field, Sanders suffered a small injury setback on Wednesday after it was announced he was expected to miss some time with an oblique injury he suffered in joint practices against the Eagles. "If it's a right guard, you can play through that," Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said, via ESPN. "When it's a quarterback, you kind of need that muscle to throw. So, unfortunately, going to put him down for a little bit here. We'll treat it day-to-day and see how it responds. But [we] want to be smart because he's a thrower — you can't push that thing." More NFL: Shedeur Sanders Trolls Bowns GM After Eye-Opening Preseason Performance While no initial timetable was given on exactly how much time Sanders would miss, Browns fans got some encouraging news about when they could expect to see Sanders back on Friday evening courtesy of NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. "Shedeur Sanders will not play (Saturday) against the Eagles because of that oblique injury that knocked him out of practice on Wednesday," Pelissero reported. "However, I am told there is cautious optimism that Sanders could return to practice next week and be able to play in the preseason finale. Tilton/Getty Images More NFL: Odell Beckham Jr. Sparks Steelers Rumors With Aaron Rodgers Comments "Officially, the Browns are calling him day-to-day, and they've got just one of many injury issues in that quarterback room," Pelissero added. Sanders is the latest in a long line of injuries that have ravaged Cleveland's QB room. While presumed Week 1 starter Joe Flacco has been fortunate to make it through the first two weeks of training camp unscathed, both Kenny Pickett and Dillon Gabriel have both been hampered by hamstring injuries. Pickett won't play against the Eagles, but there is optimism Gabriel, who threw for 3,857 yards, 30 touchdowns and just six interceptions at Oregon last season, could be healthy enough to get the start. "They're hoping Dillon Gabriel is going to wake up feeling good enough (Saturday) that he can go out and start and make his debut after his own hamstring injuries," Pelissero continued. "If not and all else fails, then it's going to be a whole lot of Tyler 'Snoop' Huntley against the Eagles." More NFL: Browns Reporter Sends Message to Shedeur Sanders After Viral Confrontation

Penix says he'll 'be ready' even if he doesn't play in preseason
The preseason hype around this team has a lot to do with the Falcon wearing No. 9, even if fans don't get a chance to see him play in the preseason. The Falcons feel really good about the work they got in joint practice sessions with the Titans; it's why they feel good keeping most of their starters in bubble wrap during the preseason – including Michael Penix Jr.
