Ravens rookie Malaki Starks adds NFL MVP Josh Allen to his most-wanted list
Most have known that Malaki Starks would be special since they watched him play for the Georgia Bulldogs. No one knew that he'd join the Baltimore Ravens. The chances of that seemed slim as he climbed both the draft boards and opinion polls. The resume seemed like that of a top ten to 15 prospect.
Starks won Freshman All-American honors and a College Football Playoff National Championship in 2022. He was named a First-Team All-SEC star and a Consensus All-American in 2023 before adding his second First-Team All-SEC honor in 2024 to stack next to a First-Team All-American mention.

How he fell to the Ravens at the 27th overall selection of the 2025 NFL Draft is beyond us. We're glad he's here, though. By the looks of things, he will fit right in with the flock.

After winning the MVP trophy and leading his team to the AFC Championship Game during the 2023-24 season, Lamar Jackson watched those honors bestowed on Josh Allen last January and February. It was Allen who heard his name called at the NFL honors. The congratulatory handshake between Lamar and Josh in the Divisional Round was one to wish the Buffalo Bills star well on his journey to the most recent AFC Championship Game.
Starks isn't having it. He's made his stance known. To paraphrase, he has a most-wanted list. It appears Allen is public enemy number one.
There's no dancing around the issue there. Again, Starks is going to fit in just fine. He'll be part of Zachary Orr's defensive unit, ranked among the NFL's top ten last season.

Solving the Josh Allen riddle will be among the top tasks. Though the Ravens have bested him and his Bills in three of four regular-season head-to-head meetings, Allen and company are 2-0 vs. Lamar Jackson and company when it matters the most in the postseason.
That has to change, and it must change quickly, because the chances are high that the Ravens and Bills will meet again in January.

JALEN RAMSEY LANDING SPOTS: Rams, Raiders among best fits if Dolphins trade CB Ramsey has four years remaining on his contract with the Dolphins, as the three-year, $72.3 million extension he signed with the team on eve of the 2024 NFL season still hasn't kicked in yet. He is set to have a cap hit of just under $16.7 million this season while taking home $25.1 million in cash, per The Dolphins will be able to split any dead-cap hit – guaranteed money already paid to a player no longer on the team – associated with trading or releasing Ramsey over two seasons because the NFL's June 1 deadline has passed. Making it palatable for Miami to trade Ramsey, as it would take manageable dead-cap hits of roughly $10.75 million in 2025 and $18.5 million in 2026 while creating $5.9 million in space for the upcoming season. Releasing Ramsey would be more penal. The Dolphins would take on just under a $31 million dead-cap hit this season – which would cost them $14.3 million in present-day cap space – while still absorbing a dead-cap blow of $18.5 million next season. It isn't clear whether the Dolphins are willing to release Ramsey if they can't find a willing trade partner.

John Harbaugh welcomed another Super Bowl-winning head coach to Ravens OTAs this offseason. Former Buccaneers and Raiders head coach Jon Gruden observed the team's workouts on Thursday and Friday this week. Harbaugh said that Gruden's outside view provided the team with valuable information. 'He loves football, he's a great football coach, great football mind,' Harbaugh said, via the team's website. 'He studied our team, gave us some insight — players, coaches, schemes, all of it. We didn't give him the playbook, we didn't give him a script either. You can only go so far. He studied us. Basically, the message was, 'If I was game planning against you on defense, what would I do, how would I attack you?' He didn't just stop there. He watched our offensive guys. He had something for each player. Very, very detailed.' Gruden has been out of coaching since being resigning from the Raiders in 2021 in the wake of the release of offensive emails, but said earlier this year that he still hopes to return to the sideline. That may not happen, but the Ravens may still benefit from his acumen this season.
