Hannah Berner apologizes to Megan Thee Stallion for controversial interview comment

Express Tribune06-03-2025

Hannah Berner has publicly apologized to Megan Thee Stallion after facing intense criticism for a comment she made during a red carpet interview at the Vanity Fair Oscar afterparty.
The comedian and podcaster told the rapper that she listens to her music when she wants to "fight someone," prompting immediate backlash from fans who called the remark inappropriate and microaggressive.
Berner, 33, took to her Instagram Story on Thursday to address the controversy, stating, "Interviewing Megan Thee Stallion was a dream of mine. I love her music, and it's my go-to whenever I need to boost my confidence before a show." She acknowledged that her word choice was poor, adding, "Looking back at the interview, I wish I used any other word except 'fight' to describe how her songs impact me. It was a careless choice of words, and though there was no ill intent, I recognize and acknowledge that what I said has a deeper meaning, and I am so sorry to Megan."

During the interview, Berner and her "Giggly Squad" co-host Paige DeSorbo praised Megan for her confidence before Berner made the now-controversial comment. The "Savage" rapper swiftly pivoted the conversation, responding, "You want to throw that fighting s--t out the window. You want to get cute and be a bad b---h."
Despite the immediate subject change, Berner reiterated her stance, doubling down on the idea that Megan's music fuels aggression. This led to a wave of social media backlash, with users pointing out Megan's history as a survivor of domestic violence, particularly referencing her 2020 shooting incident involving Tory Lanez.
Fans flooded Berner's TikTok and Instagram, calling her out for perpetuating harmful stereotypes. Comments included, "Why does Megan Thee Stallion's music make you want to fight? She doesn't rap about violence," and "Girl, you seriously owe Meg an apology. The stereotyping was seriously wrong."
As of now, Megan Thee Stallion has not publicly responded to Berner's apology, and Vanity Fair has yet to release a statement regarding the interview.

Justin Bieber's social media posts continue to raise concerns among fans

Justin Bieber's latest Instagram post has sparked widespread concern among fans, many of whom are urging the singer to 'get help' following a series of mirror selfies shared on Saturday. The photos, taken in a bathroom, show Bieber posing awkwardly and making exaggerated faces. He captioned the post, 'U could point at my flaws. Or u could recognize ur own lil b**ch.' Followers quickly flooded the comments with concern. 'So hard and sad to watch. Why are the people around him not helping him when he's clearly struggling. He's not clear at all and hurting,' one comment read. Another added, 'Babe. Please go get help.' Some fans compared Bieber's behaviour to other celebrities known for public struggles. 'It's looking like Liam Payne and Britney [Spears] someone needs to help him before it's too late,' wrote a user. Several referenced a February appearance at Hailey Bieber's Rhode Skin event, where his erratic actions raised eyebrows and triggered speculation about possible drug use. Although his representative previously denied any substance abuse and criticised the drug rumours as 'harmful,' Bieber has continued to openly display his marijuana use. In April, sources close to the singer voiced their alarm in The Hollywood Reporter, saying they were watching him 'disintegrate.' One former team member said, 'He's lost. There's no one protecting him because there's no one there willing to say no to him.'
