‘American Idol' reveals its top 7
The 'American Idol' competition is officially down to a top seven.
During Monday night's live episode — which came a day after more than 22 million votes from viewers at home determined the show's top eight — another singer left the competition.
Here's a brief recap of the episode.
A look at the 'American Idol' top 7 episode
Monday night's episode featured the judges' song contest, where 'Idol' judges Carrie Underwood, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan picked potential songs for the top eight contestants to perform.
All of the contestants got to pick from three songs — one from each judge — but didn't find out until after their performance which judge selected each song.
Performances from the top eight contestants included:
Breanna Nix — 'Independence Day,' Martina McBride (Bryan's pick)
Mattie Pruitt — 'Always Been You,' Jessie Murph (Bryan's pick)
John Foster — 'I Cross My Heart,' George Strait (Underwood's pick)
Josh King — 'Home,' Michael Buble (Richie's pick, video unavailable)
Gabby Samone — 'Hero,' Mariah Carey (Richie's pick)
Jamal Roberts — 'I Believe,' Fantasia (Richie's pick)
Thunderstorm Artis — 'Faithfully,' Journey (Underwood's pick)
Slater Nalley — 'Atlantic City,' Bruce Springsteen (Bryan's pick)

Jessica Simpson Spotted Hyping Up Ashlee Simpson's Racy Photos Ahead of Celebration
Jessica Simpson Spotted Hyping Up Ashlee Simpson's Racy Photos Ahead of Celebration originally appeared on Parade. Jessica Simpson is her sister, Ashlee Simpson Ross', biggest fan. The singing sisters have a lot in common, having grown up in the music business. Despite both of them working on new projects lately, there seems to be no animosity or competitiveness between them. Instead, Jessica has become her little sister's biggest cheerleader as Ashlee promotes two 20th anniversary shows this summer in Las Vegas. She'll perform on two different nights at the Voltaire in the Venetian resort, two decades after the release of her album, I Am Me. In the latest photo, Ashlee can be seen showing off her flexibility while wearing a sheer black corseted one-piece with sheer leggings and platform stilettos. Her caption announces, "I'm ready." In the comment section, Jessica wrote, "Hotter than EVER! People have no idea what they are in for. Makes me so happy eeeeeek ❤️🔥." In another photo shared by the younger Simpson sister, she can be seen holding back damp hair with both hands, with her smoky eyes fixed on something in the distance. The photo is black and white, just like the latest, making it feel intense. This time, the caption said, "You keep me coming back for more. ✨" Again, Jessica was spotted in the comments. This time, she wrote, "I can see that beautiful fire in those eyes! It is GO time and I couldn't be more proud of you❣️✨💫🙌🏻." There are only three posts on Ashlee Simpson's Instagram, and the oldest one, posted nearly a week ago, announced her upcoming shows. Fans can buy tickets now and catch her performing on Friday, August 29, and Saturday, August 30, upcoming performance follows her big sister Jessica's comeback, which included an exciting return to the TV stage for the American Idol finale that left fans in awe. Following that performance, Jessica penned a very personal message to fans, proving that celebrities are human, too, and that she was very nervous to be on stage again. Why Clay Aiken Says He'll Need to Be 'Sedated' Amid 16-Year-Old Son's Career Plans
Clay Aiken's 16-year-old son, Parker, is getting closer and closer to realizing his dream of becoming a pilot, and that has the American Idol finalist feeling, quite literally, queasy. Speaking to People ahead of the re-release of his debut single, "Measure of a Man," Aiken explains he's not all that ecstatic about Parker, as part of his pilot training, getting on a plane and flying solo across the state. Aiken, who shares Parker with his longtime friend, Jaymes Foster (the sister of famed producer and composer David Foster), says it was one thing to see his 16-year-old son hop on a plane solo taking laps around the airport. 'He just went and did his first solo flight two weeks ago, so a big milestone there,' he tells People. 'Now we're planning on the next one, which I'll need even more Xanax for.' And the next one involves Parker flying solo across the state, which is proving to be too much for Aiken to handle. 'I'm not going to be able to see the plane,' Aiken says. 'You're gonna have to sedate me. Just call an anesthesiologist because I don't have the nerves for that.' Parker is apparently a very driven young man. Aiken, a 2003 runner-up to Ruben Studdard on season 2 of American Idol, shares that his son has always known he wanted to be a pilot. 'He's known what he wants to do for, gosh, his whole life,' Aiken says. 'It was a little weird to me because I didn't know what I wanted to do — I still don't.' Good luck, Parker! Zach Bryan to perform 'affordable show for fans' at Red Rocks: How to get tickets
Zach Bryan is returning to Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado, this summer for a special show for fans. The country music star will be performing at Red Rocks on Aug. 10, according to an announcement this week. Bryan took to Instagram on Monday to share the announcement, writing in the caption, "Wasn't planning on playing this, but a spot opened up and I wanted to play an affordable show for fans." "None of these tickets will be more than 50 bucks plus the fees," he added. The "Dear Miss" singer said fans can register now through Friday, June 13, at 5 p.m. MT to purchase tickets via Fair AXS. More information is available at Bryan last performed at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in November 2022 during his American Heartbreak Tour. There, he recorded his 24-song live album, "All My Homies Hate Ticketmaster." The singer has long been vocal about issues with fair ticket prices. In a statement shared on Instagram in December 2022, he wrote, "Seems there is a massive issue with fair ticket prices to live shows lately. I have met kids at my shows who have paid upwards of four hundred bucks to be there and I'm done with it." "I've decided to play a limited number of headline shows next year to which I've done all I can to make prices as cheap as possible and to prove to people tickets don't have to cost $450 to see a good and honest show," he continued, adding, "I believe working class people should still be able to afford tickets to shows ... I am so tired of people saying things can't be done about this massive issue while huge monopolies sit there stealing money from working class people."
