Emmerdale legend makes plea to be in Coronation Street crossover

Emmerdale's Dominic Brunt has expressed his thoughts on the latest news in soapland, which has confirmed the ITV soap and Coronation Street will crossover in an episode next year.
It was announced earlier this year that both serial dramas will air in what has been dubbed as a 'power hour' from 8pm, Monday to Friday. Ultimately it means that both shows will lose a half an hour episode per week.
This event is the first time that soap worlds have collided in an official capacity – though we have seen small crossovers for Children in Need and to highlight climate change in the past.
Producers have confirmed that the episode will be marked in 'spectacular style', with production teams from Leeds and Trafford working together to achieve an 'ambitious' stunt' that will have 'everlasting consequences' for the communities of Weatherfield and Emmerdale.

An 'ingenious' way of merging the two has been devised by those behind the scenes, although it's understood that the characters will then return to their respective environments after the ep.
Forever linked together, familiar faces will depart while some fresh new faces will arrive in both soaps.
The high-stakes drama will subsequently have huge repercussions for everyone involved in the time following.

Among the soap stars sharing their excitement for what's ahead was Dominic Brunt, who plays Paddy Kirk in Emmerdale.
Taking to X, the star expressed his hope for being part of the episode.
'Lord. Please please please let me be in this story', he wrote.
'If not, I'll be popcorn at the ready anyway. Imagine the potential slanging matches, the affairs, the fights, the comedy, the tragedy. Even just for that episode!! As a viewer I can't wait, as a cast member I await the script.'

TV teen who needed French polisher in Yellow Pages ad unrecognisable 34 years on
One of the best-remembered ads for the Yellow Pages phone directory featured a floppy-haired teenager waking up to the aftermath of party he'd thrown while his parents were away Before the rise of the internet, we had the Yellow Pages, a comprehensive directory of local businesses – from advice centres to zoos – all vying for your custom, packaged in a hefty, distinctively coloured phone book. In the 1990s, the Reading-based company became famous for its unforgettable TV adverts, each new release bringing a buzz of anticipation akin to the unveiling of a new John Lewis Christmas advert today. These TV commercials even turned their stars into temporary celebrities, long before the era of reality TV, and gave birth to several catchphrases. Anyone around at the time will easily remember the Yellow Pages ad featuring elderly man searching for a book titled Fly Fishing by J R Hartley, with the surprising twist that it was Mr Hartley himself seeking his old publication. There was also the cheeky young lad standing on a stack of Yellow Pages to sneak a kiss under the Christmas mistletoe. And in 2003, Cold Feet actor James Nesbitt was enlisted to rejuvenate the brand, with the actor channelling his character Adam's hapless persona from the show, using the Yellow Pages to navigate tricky situations. But one of the most memorable adverts, first aired in 1991, featured a shaggy-haired teenager waking up on his living room floor after hosting a house party while his parents were away. Venturing into a bedroom, he stumbles upon a stranger on the bed, exclaiming: "Wake up! My parents fly back today," as a small group hastily tidies up the house. Then after his abject horror at noticing a scratch on a wooden table, he turns to the reliable Yellow Pages to find a solution. "Hello, French polishers?" he enquires over the phone, adding: "It's just possible you could save my life." The scratch is skilfully polished away in the nick of time and everything seems fine, until the final moment when the unfortunate lad realises that someone has doodled a beard and glasses onto a woman on one of the family's treasured paintings. The teenager in the advert was portrayed by Nottingham actor Simon Schatzberger, who later played Adrian Mole in a stage production in London's West End, and has since appeared as a Woody Allen-esque character in a stand-up comedy show. Now aged 57, he's also had a stint as David Klarfeld on the BBC soap Doctors and made appearances in EastEnders as a Rabbi, both in December 2018 and again in January 2019. His other television roles include Band Of Brothers, Daniel Deronda and Father Brown. In 2019, Yellow Pages announced it would cease printing its iconic directories, after more than half a century. The final editions of the once-indispensable guide were delivered in Brighton, the city where the directory's original copies were distributed. It boasted 104 editions, each customised to specific areas of the UK, with nearly 23 million copies circulated each year. And in 2023, a perfume was launched that even smelled like Yellow Pages, proving the brand lives on... sort of.

Scots OnlyFans teacher who sold x-rated pics slams 'Victorian values' of education bosses
Kirsty Buchan faces being struck off following an educational watchdog hearing next week. A teacher who was sacked for selling X-rated photos online has blasted education bosses for their 'Victorian values'. The General Teaching Council (GTCS) for Scotland has scheduled a hearing that may ban Kirsty Buchan from the classroom. But the physics teacher has told the education bosses she is too busy to attend – as she is doing a photo-shoot for her OnlyFans site. She said: 'The way I've been treated in the school and the education system has been very one-sided and unfair. 'They have applied Victorian values to behaviour that is socially acceptable in 2025 and written it up as though I am suffering from poor morality. The Daily Record interviewed Kirsty in 2022 after it emerged she was running the saucy sideline and made £60,000 in a month. Pupils at Bannerman High in Baillieston, Glasgow, got wind of the full-frontal content and some parents were furious. But despite accepting a no-show at her GTCS hearing will probably mean being struck off, Kirsty is unrepentant. She said: 'The reality is that I live my life according to proper values. I'm loyal and decent and I treat people properly. And I know I was a very good teacher because I really cared about the kids I taught. 'I'd have loved to have carried on with both but that was taken away from me. They can do what they like at the GTCS but I won't be there.' Kirsty, of Coatbridge, said she was forced to step away from the modelling site after various setbacks, including the loss of a close family member. She added: 'I put a few things to the side to concentrate on being a mum and dealing with family things. But I am now up and running and I have hundreds of fans who are signed to my account and I am back on the modelling beat. It was revealed earlier this week the ex-teacher – who uses the handle Jessica Jackrabbitx on the site – faces a hearing with the GTCS on Monday, where she is charged with three offences. Kirsty, 34, is accused of bringing the profession into disrepute by selling the photos. The GTCS says she failed to ensure they could not be accessed by under-18s without the need to log in to the X-rated subscription service. She is also being carpeted for speaking to the Record, which caused a huge stir at the time, with pupils coming forward to say such modelling should be acceptable in 2025. In the interview, Kirsty told how her wages were docked by the school for time off she took off to look after her son. In her first month – after the Record story – she made £60,000, which is more than a year's wages as a physics teacher. Her employer, Glasgow City Council, referred her case to the GTCS. Kirsty said: 'I've already lost my job but they are determined to drag me through this hearing to ensure I can never teach again. It really just makes me feel sad, to give me a life ban and make out that I'm a bad teacher when opposite is true. 'It's just a lot of backward thinking, Victorian attitude rubbish and it says more about the GTCS and Glasgow City Council than it does about me.' Kirsty added: 'I loved the job and I loved the pupils, many of whom I'm still in touch with. I have also still been able to help a few younger kids out with their maths homework, just as a favour, and that gives me a buzz.' Kirsty believes the GTCS case is vindictive. She said: 'People just need to get over it. What I do is not hurting anyone.' The GTCS claims her actions were 'lacking in integrity', failed to take steps to stop her being identified and risked bringing the profession into disrepute. It is said she is unfit to teach. The GTCS hearing will be online, last up to three days and evidence will be led by lawyers even if Kirsty does not turn up. A panel could issue a reprimand and/or apply conditions to her work. The ultimate sanction would be the removal of her name from the teaching register.
