Her versatility shone in Aankhon Aankhon Mein (1972) and Daag: A Poem of Love (1973), the latter earning her the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress. In 1974, her film 27 Down won two National Awards, and in 1976, she received the Filmfare Award for Best Actress for her role in Tapasya.
Her powerful performances continued in classics such as Muqaddar Ka Sikandar (1978), Shaan (1980), Shakti (1982), Ram Lakhan (1989), Baazigar (1993) and Karan Arjun (1995)
In her personal life, Rakhee Gulzar first married journalist Ajay Biswas in 1963. Following their separation, she wed acclaimed writer and lyricist Sampooran Singh Kalra, better known as Gulzar, in 1973.
Her on-screen chemistry with Shashi Kapoor is regarded as iconic, particularly in the film Kabhi Kabhie, which featured the beloved song Kabhi Kabhi Mere Dil Mein Khayal Aata Hai, a timeless favourite among fans.
