The British sprinter who was faster than Lyles and Gout at 14
'There would always be this big gap'
Having initially tried gymnastics, Divine turned to athletics when he was seven years old - and soon noticed he was different from his peers."In the 75m race in primary school, there would always be this big gap," he says."I'd always look back saying: 'Did I run that?' It felt kind of weird to me."Having run for fun alongside other sports, things became more serious after he impressed at the English Schools Athletics Championships in 2023."I was 13 and won [the 100m] in 11.7 seconds," he said. "I was like: 'This is what I want to do.'"
'Once we enter the track, I don't look at him as my son'
After competing at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester, Nkiruka served for nine years in the British Army, which she says influenced her as a coach.Aware of Divine's potential, she and her husband Innocent founded the PWD Athletics Academy in Oxford, where their son trains four times a week."It's tough, very tough. I can't escape any sessions," the teenager says, smiling."He knows that once we enter the track, I don't look at him as my son," Nkiruka says."I have to get down to business, so I take off motherhood and bring in the coach.""She knows me more than anyone because I'm her son," Divine chips in."She knows how to critique me well; which bits I'm stronger at and which bits I'm weaker at so it's really good."Her training is what got me those two records."
'I'm aiming to get my 200m much, much quicker'
Iheme says he grew up watching videos of Usain Bolt's record-breaking performances over 200m at the World Championships in Berlin, admires Olympic 200m champion Letsile Tebogo, and has been following closely the times posted by Gout."He's doing great. I saw his recent 20.2, and I was really happy for him," he said.Iheme and Gout may one day go head to head for athletics' biggest prizes, but for now the Briton is focused solely on self-improvement."I'm hoping to run a PB of 10.2 or even lower," he says."And I'm aiming to get my 200m down much, much quicker. Sub-21."Despite his obvious talent, Iheme remains what many would regard as a typical teenager."I like to watch Netflix. I love binge watching," he says. The importance of remaining grounded can't be overstated. The athletics world is littered with countless examples of talented juniors who never transitioned to top-level seniors."Many of us who have been in athletics for a long time understand that it's a marathon," says 2010 world indoor champion Dwain Chambers."It's about teaching the athletes skills on and off the track… it's a case of nurturing at the right time."

Gordon Ramsay makes his true feelings known towards future son-in-law Adam Peaty
Olympic swimming legend Adam Peaty took on his toughest challenge yet, with future father-in-law Gordon Ramsay in full support. On Sunday, the 30-year-old pushed through a brutal triathlon, surrounded by a very famous cheer squad. The Strictly Come Dancing star, who has six Olympic medals under his belt, dived into his first-ever triathlon as part of the T100 Triathlon World Tour. Unsurprisingly, he was surrounded by his biggest supporters both in and out of the water as 'Team Ramsay' were on hand for the event. His fiancée, Holly Ramsay, was there to cheer him on, along with his young son George, who beamed with pride throughout the day. The Ramsay family was out in full force – Holly's mum, Tana, and siblings Megan, Tilly, and Jack all participated in the event alongside him. Gordon, 58, had hoped to take part himself but was benched by doctors after getting stitches in his cheek – but he more than made up for it with enthusiastic sideline support. It was a big day filled with famous faces, with McFly drummer Harry Judd and former racing driver Billy Monger also among the competitors. The triathlon was no joke – a 2km swim, an 80km cycle, and an 18km run made up the punishing course. Adam powered through and crossed the finish line in 2 hours, 34 minutes, and 37 seconds, collapsing into a hug from his proud loved ones. Moments after the triathlon ended, George ran up to his dad with a handmade sign that read 'I love you. Go Daddy', and gave him a kiss. Holly was glowing with pride as her future husband caught his breath. 'That was the hardest thing I've ever done,' Adam said afterwards, before adding: 'I'd 100% do it again.' Reflecting on the experience, he later shared on Instagram: 'Before this I never raced for more than a few minutes, never swam open water, never raced on a bike or had ever done a 10km run with people of all paces around me. Glad I got all of those ticked off today.' Adam's relationship with Holly began in 2023, and the Olympian popped the question last Autumn. While the couple initially kept things quiet, it was Gordon who let the wedding plans slip during an interview on The Jonathan Ross Show. 'It's going to be a Christmas wedding,' he said, revealing they'd already started scouting venues and making arrangements. The celebrity chef went on to praise Adam, calling him a down-to-earth, driven man and the ideal match for his daughter. Gordon shared that Adam had asked for his and Tana's blessing during a family trip to Cornwall, describing the moment as emotional and unforgettable. 'As a future son-in-law, we couldn't ask for better,' he continued, clearly touched by the swimmer's sincerity. The feeling is mutual, as Adam has spoken openly about how welcomed he feels by the Ramsay family. And yes, Gordon is already planning the wedding menu – something Holly says he has been excited about from day one. 'He's definitely taking charge of the food,' she told Closer Magazine, laughing about her dad's enthusiasm for the big day. Holly first shared news of their engagement with an emotional Instagram post, calling Adam her 'best friend' and saying she still remembers the smile she had after their first date. She thanked him for making her feel 'loved, seen and happier than ever' and said she couldn't wait to become his wife. Adam posted his own heartfelt message soon after, calling Holly 'gentle, caring and beautiful,' and saying he felt like the luckiest man alive. More Trending He also spoke about how close he's become to her family, describing their warmth, support, and generosity as something he's incredibly grateful for. Now, with wedding bells ringing this Christmas and triathlon medals added to his collection, Adam seems to be entering a brand new chapter – on both the podium and in his personal life. Between gruelling training, new athletic goals, and a growing family, he has embracing it all with humility and heart. Revealed: Man United to open mega pop-up PUB at Old Trafford which can hold over a THOUSAND fans - and it will be open on time for the first game of the season against Arsenal!
Manchester United are to open a 'pop-up pub' at Old Trafford. Officials will unveil vast, 900 square metre-marquee behind the Stretford End in time for their first match of the season on Sunday against Arsenal. The new addition will have room for 1,000 supporters, and be viewed as a form of 'fan village' at Old Trafford. Starting from this weekend's Arsenal season-opener, the new addition will be free to enter and will open three hours before the match starts. The move is aimed at bringing fans to the stadium early and helping to generate and atmosphere in the build up to kick-off. United also believe it will provide an opportunity for local businesses. Manchester-based brewer Shindigger, will provide the beer while food will be supplied by city-centre-based eaterie Yard and Coop. Around 1,000 fans will be able to fit in the gigantic watering hole at Old Trafford from Sunday There will be a fast-pour system via units which can fill a pint in 10 seconds, music from local bands - and for the Arsenal game Denis Irwin will be the first club legend in attendance. Club partners Estée Lauder and Cadbury will provide giveaways, while fans can hang their flags on the marquee wall. The idea came from a consultation with supporters, who said they wanted more to see and do around Old Trafford. Should the pop-up be successful, it could see its stay extended. United are reluctant to spend big on new infrastructure at their current home given they hope to a new stadium in the next five years. However, officials believe the marquee could become popular and satisfy what they see as an immediate need.
