Norfolk Police given £1m to target anti-social 'hotspots'
The hotspots within Norwich include the market, Chantry, Prince of Wales Road and Riverside.Further afield, the hotspots include King's Lynn West and East, Downham Market town centre, Dereham town centre, Thetford town centre, Thetford Abbey, Thetford Pine, Diss town centre, Britannia Pier, Gorleston town centre, Nelson Road South, St George's Park, Great Yarmouth seafront, Great Yarmouth Market Place and Howard Street.The force said as a result of the scheme, officers had made 198 arrests, conducted 122 stop and searches and seized 17 weapons.Supt Lane said: "Targeted hotspot patrols are key to disrupting and preventing crime as well as engaging with our local communities. "This additional funding gives us the opportunity to focus our resources in areas where serious violence and anti-social behaviour is having a direct impact on the quality of life of residents and businesses."

London stabbings leave 2 dead, 2 hospitalized, including suspect
A stabbing attack at a London business on Monday killed two people and sent two more to the hospital, including the suspect who was in grave condition, police said. A 58-year-old-man was killed at the scene in the Southwark section of central London, the Metropolitan police said. A 27-year-old man died from his injuries at the hospital. Police search for suspect in deaths of couple attacked while walking with daughters at Arkansas park
Police in Arkansas were searching on Sunday for a suspect in the deaths of a couple who investigators said were attacked while on a wooded walking trail with their two young daughters. Clinton David Brink, 43, and Cristen Amanda Brink, 41, were found dead Saturday at Devil's Den State Park in Washington County in a suspected homicide, Arkansas State Police said. Their daughters, who are 7 and 9, were not hurt and are being cared for by family members. Officials described the suspect as a white male wearing dark shorts, a dark ballcap, sunglasses and fingerless gloves. He was seen driving toward a park exit in a black, four-door sedan with a license plate partly covered by tape. The car, possibly a Mazda, may have been traveling on State Highway 170 or State Highway 220 near the park in a rural, wooded area with limited cellphone service, police said. Shea Lewis, secretary of the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism, said that rangers had stepped up patrols at Devil's Den. 'Our hearts are with the victims' loved ones during this incredibly difficult time,' Lewis said in a statement Sunday. 'The safety of our visitors and staff is our highest priority, and we are working closely with Arkansas State Police and various law enforcement officials as the investigation continues.' Investigators asked for potential witnesses to review their photos and videos from the park south of Fayetteville. There was no information about a possible motive. Officials said the victims had recently moved to Prairie Grove, Arkansas, from another state. Their bodies were taken to the state crime lab, where the manner and cause of death will be determined.

Texas man pleads guilty to stalking WNBA star Caitlin Clark and gets 2 1/2 years in prison
A 55-year-old Texas man who told police he was in "an imaginary relationship' with WNBA star Caitlin Clark was sentenced to 2 1/2 years in prison Monday after pleading guilty to stalking and harassing the Indiana Fever guard. Michael Lewis, of Denton, Texas, reached a deal with Marion County prosecutors in which he pleaded guilty to one felony count of stalking and one misdemeanor count of harassment. He will get credit for time served. Lewis also was ordered to stay away from Gainbridge Fieldhouse, Hinkle Fieldhouse, Fever events and Indiana Pacers organization events, as well as to have no contact with Clark. He also will not be allowed internet access during his sentence. Lewis was arrested on Jan. 12 after authorities alleged he sent hundreds of 'threats and sexually explicit messages' to Clark between Dec. 12, 2024, and Jan. 11, 2025. Lewis, who prophesized during Monday's courtroom proceedings that the end of the world was coming, also was recommended to get mental health treatment. The FBI tracked the IP addresses of Lewis' messages to a hotel in downtown Indianapolis as well as the Indianapolis Public Library. Indianapolis police then made a welfare check on Lewis, according to court documents, and he told officers that he was in 'an imaginary relationship' with Clark and that he came to Indianapolis on vacation. The messages to Clark continued after the initial visit by police. Clark, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA draft, has been limited to 13 games this season because of injuries and is currently sidelined with a strained right groin. ___
