
Cleaner charged with molesting nurse in operating theatre
PETALING JAYA : A 30-year-old cleaner was charged in the Ayer Keroh magistrates' court today with molesting a nurse in an operating theatre last month.
Bokhari Abu Boshir Mohammad, a Bangladeshi national, claimed trial after the charge was read to him before magistrate Sharda Sheinha Suleiman, Berita Harian reported.
Bokhari was charged with using criminal force with the intent to outrage the modesty of the 32-year-old nurse in an operating theatre at Melaka Hospital at about 8.30pm on June 9.
The offence under Section 354 of the Penal Code is punishable by up to 10 years in prison, a fine, whipping or any two of those punishments upon conviction.
The court fixed bail at RM4,000 with two Malaysian sureties who live in Melaka. The accused was also ordered to surrender his passport and report to the police every month.
Document submission was fixed for July 18.

'The sexual molestation cases involving the celebrity preacher in Penang are currently being heard in court,' she reportedly said. 'All the victims are male teenagers aged between 13 and 16.' She said the incidents occurred in Penang and Kedah, with charges filed in 2023, 2024 and this year. Nurul Izzah previously alleged on Facebook that the preacher had exploited young boys' interests in nasyid music to carry out his acts. She said the victim later lodged a police report after experiencing the alleged harassment. Nurul Izzah pledged to stand by the victims after the preacher was said to have filed a lawsuit against the victim's family, demanding a public apology.

Search operation on for man believed to have fallen into Sungai Muar
TANGKAK, July 18 — A 62-year-old man is feared to have fallen into Sungai Muar from a bridge along Jalan Panchor-Grisek near here yesterday. Tangkak police chief Supt Roslan Mohd Talib said the police received a report of the incident at 8.54 am from the victim's son after he was unable to contact his father. He said the man had left their home in Kampung Parit Tunggul, Kundang Ulu alone around 6am, wearing a short-sleeved chequered shirt and a blue kain pelikat. 'The victim drove off in a grey Mazda CX-5, which a member of the public later found,' Roslan said in a statement. He said a call to the victim's mobile phone was answered by the individual who found the vehicle, raising suspicion that the man had fallen into the river. A search and rescue operation was launched shortly after the report was lodged, involving the police, Fire and Rescue Department, Civil Defence Force and local villagers. 'As of 9 pm, the victim has not been located. The case is investigated as a missing person. The public is advised against speculating on the incident,' he added. — Bernama
