One-day Indian Open Athletics meet extended by a day due to more participants
"The Indian Open Athletics Meet which was scheduled to be held at Sangrur on 27th July 2025, will now be held on 27th and 28th July 2025 at Sangrur," said the circular on Wednesday. Sangrur has already held a Indian OPen earlier this year on April 1. "The meet has been extended for one day because of more number of entries
crossing almost 900 Athletes. The programme will be shortly put on the AFI website. The Athletes are advised to book their travel and accommodation accordingly."
Interestingly, earlier this year there had been lukewarm response by athletes for domestic competition and for Indian Open Athletics. The AFI was forced to bring out a circular making it mandatory for athletes to compete in at least two domestic meet to be eligible to compete in at least two Indian GP or Open athletics to be eligible to compete at Federation cup athletics. Indian Open athletics have been held at Nadiad, Ranchi, Chennai, Bengaluru and Pune. Patna will host the seventh on July 19, before Sangrur hosts the last one on July 27-28.
For the National Inter-State Senior Championships to be held in Chennai from August 20 to 24, the AFI has made it mandatory for the athletes to meet the entry standards set by it and achieved in events directly organised by the federation between May 1 and August 10.
The athletes are also required to participate in respective state meets organized by recognised units and another event organised by the AFI -- Indian Open Athletics Meeting or Grand Prix.

In surfing, a panel of five judges scores each wave ridden by a surfer on a scale of 1 to 10 (with two decimal places). The highest and lowest scores are discarded, and the surfer receives the average of the remaining three scores. A perfect ride is 10 points, and a perfect heat score is 20. Philippines's Neil Sanchez earned the day's highest heat score with a combination of speed, flow, and progressive moves with a staggering 14.00 (Won by 4.13) — to seal his third round place. A total of 16 heats were run in the Open category, with the top two surfers from each heat moving forward, while others will battle again in the repechage rounds. HCL India Squash Tour 2025: Top seedings for Egypt's Yassine Shohadi, Noor Khafagi; Joshna, Nirupama withdraw; Rajasthan's Chhabi Saran in main draw
1 2 Jaipur: Egypt's Yassine Shohadi and Nour Khafagi have been given top seeding in the men's and women's categories, respectively in the first leg of the HCL India Squash Tour 2025 starting at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium here on Monday under the joint aegis of the Squash Rackets Federation of India and HCL. Star Indian squash players Joshna Chinappa and Nirupama Dubey withdrew just a day before the start of the tournament, allowing Rajasthan's Chhabi Saran to enter the main draw. Squash Rackets Federation of India vice-president Surabhi Mishra said here on Sunday that Egypt's Yassine Shohadi has been given the top seed in the matches starting from Monday. Japan's Tomo Endo has got the second seed, Sri Lanka's Ravindu Laksiri has got the third seed and Malaysia's Darin Pragasus has got the fourth seed. Surabhi Mishra informed that Suraj Kumar Chand is the only Indian in the top 8 in the men's category, who has been given the sixth seed. India's Rahul Baitha, Aryaveer Diwan, Ayan Wazir Ali and Diwakar Singh will also challenge. Surabhi said that in the women's category too, Egypt's Noor Khafagi is the top seed. Egypt's Menna Waleed is second, Japan's Akari Midorikawa is third, while Malaysia's Go Zhi Xuan is the fourth seed. She said that among the top-8 Indian players, Tanvi Khanna has been seeded fifth, Anjali Semwal sixth, Shamina Riyaz seventh and Zenit Vidhi eighth. Rahil fights off a strong challenge to win Pro-Stock 301-400cc race
Rahil Pillarisetty and Savion Sabu hogged the limelight with contrasting victories in the two premier Pro-Stock categories as the Rolon Round of the MRF MMSC FMSCI Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship concluded at the Kari Motor Speedway here on Sunday. While 27-year-old Rahil (RACR Castrol Power1) fought off a strong challenge to win the Pro-Stock 301-400cc Open race, Savion swept to a comfortable victory, his second of the weekend, for Mad Rabbit Racing team. Savion's teammate Varun Patil topped the Stock 301-400cc (Novice) race for his second win in four starts this season. Raj Kumar took the honours in the Super Stock 165cc Intermediate as he led a 1-2 finish for Motul Sparks Racing with Mohamed Samrul Zubair in tow. Meanwhile, Daniel Lalhriatkima and Johring Warisa scripted history of sorts by delivering a first double podium for Yakuza Racing India, which was formed only this year.
