iOS 26 lets you make custom Genmoji with ChatGPT and emoji
Apple's new iPhone operating system could seriously change the way you use emoji and Genmoji.
The tech giant announced and previewed iOS 26 on Monday during its highly anticipated keynote address at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). There was lots of news: a total redesign, new Maps tools, and new spam-blocking tools, to name a few.
Tucked into that waterfall of news was a big change to Genmoji and emoji. In short: You'll soon have more ability to customize your Genmoji with ChatGPT and by combining emoji. The new iOS will allow users to "mix together emoji and combine them with descriptions to create something new," Apple wrote in a press release. Apple, for example, showed off what looked like an emoji sloth discovering a good idea...which, sure, OK.

Apple also noted that iOS 26 will allow users to employ ChatGPT to customize their images and emoji. It showed, for instance, that in Image Playground users can make emoji (or images) stylized in different ways using the AI tool. An image of a beach ball, for instance, could be made to look like it was an oil painting.

These tools seemed to be aimed at spicing up your group chats. Gone are the days of a simple :) it would seem.

We might have to wait until March 2026 for Siri's AI upgrade
If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, BGR may receive an affiliate commission. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple now plans to debut its AI-powered upgrade for Siri as part of iOS 26.4. Looking back at the previous two iOS generations, iOS 18.4 arrived on March 31, 2025, while iOS 17.4 rolled out on March 5, 2024. Therefore, we can safely assume iOS 26.4 will launch around March 2026. The new Siri experience was initially set to launch as part of iOS 18, but a well documented set of problems behind the scenes prevented that from ever happening. As a result, iPhone owners are still waiting for Siri to catch up with far more capable AI chatbots. Apple revealed the 'more personalized' Siri at WWDC 2024, but the launch of iOS 18 came and went last fall without any updates. Apple finally told John Gruber's Daring Fireball in March 2025 that it was going to take the company 'longer than we thought to deliver on these features,' but that it still expected to roll them out at some point in 2025. That's clearly no longer the case, as Apple executives Craig Federighi and Greg 'Joz' Joswiak sat down for an interview with Tom's Guide at WWDC 2025 and confirmed that the company is now anticipating 'rolling them out in the coming year.' Bloomberg's report not only corroborates the news, but provides a concrete timeline for when we can expect to see the Siri upgrade actually materialize. In a press release last June, Apple referred to the upcoming Siri powered by Apple Intelligence as 'more natural, more contextually relevant, and more personal.' The company told us that Siri would soon be able to follow along even when the user stumbles over their words, keep up with a conversation over multiple requests, and switch between text and voice. 'With Apple Intelligence, Siri will be able to take hundreds of new actions in and across Apple and third-party apps,' the company noted. 'For example, a user could say, 'Bring up that article about cicadas from my Reading List,' or 'Send the photos from the barbecue on Saturday to Malia,' and Siri will take care of it.' Instead, all we really got was a new design for Siri, which now shows up as a glowing light that wraps around the edge of the iPhone's display. That will apparently continue to be Siri's biggest improvement until the calendar flips to 2026. CoreWeave (CRWV) to Power Google-OpenAI Deal with Computing Capacity
CoreWeave (CRWV), a cloud provider that specializes in AI (artificial intelligence) infrastructure, is reportedly set to power the recently announced cloud deal between tech giant Google (GOOGL) and ChatGPT-maker OpenAI. According to Reuters, CoreWeave will offer computing capacity to Google's cloud unit, which, in turn, will sell it to OpenAI to address the growing demand for AI services like ChatGPT. Confident Investing Starts Here: In addition, sources told Reuters that Google will offer some of its own computing resources to OpenAI. Despite this news, shares of CoreWeave fell slightly in today's trading. CoreWeave Poised to Gain from AI Demand The massive demand for computing power is changing the dynamics in the tech world and fueling deals between large cloud service providers, also known as hyperscalers, such as Google, Microsoft (MSFT), and Amazon (AMZN), and neocloud companies like CoreWeave. CoreWeave, which provides customers access to Nvidia's (NVDA) GPUs (graphics processing units), went public in March. Thanks to AI tailwinds, CRWV stock has rallied 191% over the past month. Notably, the company has secured a five-year contract worth $11.9 billion with OpenAI to provide computing capacity. Additionally, CoreWeave and OpenAI expanded their collaboration with an additional agreement of up to $4 billion, extending through April 2029, to meet the latter's growing demand for high-performance computing resources. The latest arrangement with Google's cloud unit is expected to boost CoreWeave's prospects while diversifying its revenues and addressing concerns about revenue concentration. For context, Microsoft (MSFT) accounted for 62% of CoreWeave's revenue in 2024. Is CRWV Stock a Buy? average CRWV stock price target of $47.42 implies a downside risk of 68.2% from current levels.

Exclusive-Foxconn sends 97% of India iPhone exports to US as Apple tackles Trump's tariffs
By Aditya Kalra and Munsif Vengattil NEW DELHI (Reuters) -Nearly all the iPhones exported by Foxconn from India went to the United States between March and May, customs data showed, far above the 2024 average of 50% and a clear sign of Apple's efforts to bypass high U.S. tariffs imposed on China. The numbers, being reported by Reuters for the first time, show Apple has realigned its India exports to almost exclusively serve the U.S. market, when previously the devices were more widely distributed to countries including the Netherlands, the Czech Republic and Britain. During March-May, Foxconn exported iPhones worth $3.2 billion from India, with an average 97% shipped to the United States, compared to a 2024 average of 50.3%, according to commercially available customs data seen by Reuters. India iPhone shipments by Foxconn to the United States in May 2025 were worth nearly $1 billion, the second-highest ever after the record $1.3 billion worth of devices shipped in March, the data showed. Apple and Foxconn did not respond to Reuters requests for comment. U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday said China will face 55% tariffs after the two countries agreed on a plan, subject to both leaders' approval, to ease levies that had reached triple digits. India is subject, like most U.S trading partners, to a baseline 10% tariff and is trying to negotiate an agreement to avert a 26% "reciprocal" levy that Trump announced and then paused in April. Apple's increased production in India drew a strong rebuke from Trump in May. "We are not interested in you building in India, India can take care of themselves, they are doing very well, we want you to build here," Trump recalled telling CEO Tim Cook. In the first five months of this year, Foxconn has already sent iPhones worth $4.4 billion to the U.S. from India, compared to $3.7 billion in the whole of 2024. Apple has been taking steps to speed up production from India to bypass tariffs, which would make phones shipped from China to the U.S. much more expensive. In March, it chartered planes to transport iPhone 13, 14, 16 and 16e models worth roughly $2 billion to the United States. Apple has also lobbied Indian airport authorities to cut the time needed to clear customs at Chennai airport in the southern state of Tamil Nadu from 30 hours to six hours, Reuters has reported. The airport is a key hub for iPhone exports. "We expect made-in-India iPhones to account for 25% to 30% of global iPhone shipments in 2025, as compared to 18% in 2024," said Prachir Singh, senior analyst at Counterpoint Research. Tata Electronics, the other smaller Apple iPhone supplier in India, on average shipped nearly 86% of its iPhone production to the U.S. during March and April, customs data showed. Its May data was not available. The company, part of India's Tata Group, started exporting iPhones only in July 2024, and only 52% of its shipments went to U.S. during 2024, the data showed. Tata declined to comment on the numbers. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has in recent years promoted India as a smartphone manufacturing hub, but high duties on importing mobile phone components compared to many other countries means it is still expensive to produce the devices in India. Apple has historically sold more than 60 million iPhones in the U.S. each year, with roughly 80% made in China. Sign in to access your portfolio
