A synopsis from Deadline reveals that the eight-part series unfolds during the early '80s, coinciding with the construction of the Jacob Javits Convention Center in the heart of The Westies' territory, Hell's Kitchen, promising a windfall for the Irish-American mobsters.
The synopsis adds: "Despite being outnumbered 50-to-1 by the Five Families of the Italian mafia, The Westies' legendary brutality and cunning have given them the leverage necessary to share the spoils through a fragile détente.
"However, internal conflict between the brash younger generation and the old-school leadership threatens to set a match to this powder keg, which will sweep the Westies into the FBI's ever-deepening investigation into the Italian mafia."

Tom is slated to embody the character of James 'Jimmy' Roarke, the fiercely loyal leader of the Westies' youthful wing. He finds guidance in the character played by J. K. Simmons, Eamon Sweeney, who grapples with split allegiances as The Westies form an alliance with the Gambino Crime Family.

Production of The Westies is scheduled to get underway in Toronto in July, with the series poised for an exclusive first showing on MGM+ in the U.S., U.K., Germany, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium, Brazil, Mexico, Chile, and Colombia. An official release date has yet to be announced.
Amazon MGM Studios Distribution will oversee the worldwide distribution of The Westies in all remaining international territories.

Brooklyn Beckham makes sweet family gesture sparking hopes of an end to bitter feud

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) BROOKLYN Beckham tonight paid a sweet tribute to a family member sparking hopes that the bitter feud could soon end. The 26-year-old reportedly cut off all contact with his parents and siblings amid an ongoing fallout. Alongside a picture of him and his grandma posted on Instagram, he wrote: "Happy birthday nanny xx love you so much." Though it is his first public acknowledgement of his family in many months, there are still seemingly many hurdles to overcome. Last month Brooklyn completely snubbed dad David's 50th birthday celebrations, failing to attend his parties or pay tribute to him on social media. Nor did he congratulate his dad after news emerged of his knighthood. Yet yesterday Brooklyn wished his father-in-law Nelson a happy birthday with a very public display of support for the 83-year-old billionaire businessman. On Monday, there was a snub the other way when Victoria and David Beckham didn't acknowledge an anniversary post Brooklyn made in which he paid tribute to his actress wife, who is said to have a frosty relationship with her mother-in-law. The couple were cheered on by Brooklyn's Godfather, Elton John, who called them "the sweetest, most loving couple". It's not known whether or not Elton's supportive comment have affected his friendship with David and Victoria. According to The Mail, Brooklyn's family - which include Romeo, 22, Cruz, 20, and Harper, 13 - refer to the aspiring chef as 'The Hostage'. Victoria Beckham and Mollie King pay sweet Father's Day tributes with heartfelt messages as celebs follow suit It has been reported he now spends most of his evenings alone with his wife, watching TV by the fire and running her baths. Brooklyn, who lives in LA, appeared to previously take a swipe at his family on Instagram when he posted a video with Nicola amid claims she was at the heart of the falling out. He emphasised his 'choice' to stick by her, writing: "My whole world x I will love you forever x I always choose you baby x you're the most amazing person i know xx me and you forever baby." 4 Brooklyn is besotted with wife Nicola Credit: Shutterstock Editorial

Brooklyn Beckham takes another swipe at dad David with surprising family post

Brooklyn Beckham has seemingly taken a further swipe at dad Sir David Beckham by showing there are certain family members he is still close with. The photographer-turned-chef and his famous family have been making headlines for weeks due to an alleged rift. Reports of bad blood in the Beckham camp first resurfaced when Brooklyn, 26, and his wife, Nicola Peltz, 30, failed to show up at Sir David's 50th birthday bash, despite all his other children attending. Since then, the hot sauce brand owner has made it clear where he'd rather be, vowing to 'always choose' Nicola, whom he wed in 2022, with a seemingly very telling Instagram post. As for his parents, while neither Sir David nor wife Victoria has addressed the reported feud, they have made several declarations of love for all their kids, Brooklyn included, online. Alas, these have not been reciprocated, meaning Brooklyn's latest Insta post dedicated to his grandmother might come as a surprise. Proving that not all family ties have been severed, the eldest Beckham boy wished Sir David's mother, Sandra, a happy birthday. Taking to his Story, he wrote alongside a throwback snap: 'Happy birthday nanny xx love you so much'. It's certainly a stark contrast to his actions around his father's milestone, which he let pass without a word publicly. At the time, a source told Metro that Brooklyn was 'disappointed in himself' for doing so. Sandra was showered with love by all Beckham children on her 76th birthday, with Romeo, 22, also writing alongside a post: 'Happy birthday love you lots'. Cruz, 20, shared with his snap: 'Happy birthday @sandra_beckham49 I love you lots.' Proud son Sir David, who was recently awarded a knighthood, uploaded a series of childhood photos to his grid, writing: 'Thank you for always being there for us all'. Former Spice Girl Victoria then hinted at some big party plans in the comments: 'Happy birthday Sandra xx we love u xxxxxx can't wait to celebrate you!!! Xx' Brooklyn's latest bday post isn't actually the only dig to come this week, as fans were also aghast when he wished Nicola's father, billionaire tycoon Nelson Peltz, a happy birthday. Earlier this week, Brooklyn posted a picture of Nelson, him, and his wife, writing: 'Happy birthday, Nelson, we love you.' Lola actress Nicola has long been open about her love for her family, telling Byrdie in February 2024: 'Family is everything to me, and I mean that with my whole heart.' She added: 'I go to Florida any chance I get, and we stay at my parents' house. It honestly makes me so happy to wake up and have my siblings around. It's really hard to get us all in the same place because there are so many of us. When we're all together, it's so fun.' It's believed that Victoria is desperate for Brooklyn to end his feud with his own father, with a source close to her telling Metro that she is 'heartbroken' over how things have changed. 'She's hoping Brooklyn will come around and see things for what they are. They've always been a close-knit family, and seeing how things are now has been devastating for Victoria and David,' added the insider. But while the Wannabe hitmaker and fashion designer is keen for a reconciliation, it might prove difficult given the recent social media activity of other relatives. Last week, Brooklyn's younger brother, Cruz, appeared to make a dig when someone wrote in the comments of a music TikTok he posted: 'Are you going to stick with this job or going to become a race car driver next or something?' Firing back and appearing to take aim at his brother's ever-changing career, he wrote: 'Wrong brother mate'. More Trending And that's not all, as Romeo has also hit out after his ex-girlfriend, Kim Turnbull, publicly denied ever dating Brooklyn, as rumours have suggested. Following her statement, on his Story, Romeo shared a quote from 1953 film Roman Holiday with Audrey Hepburn's character saying: 'What the world needs is a return to sweetness and decency.' Underneath, he wrote: 'Be nice to people and don't spread unnecessary lies,' followed by a seemingly sarcastic kissing emoji. It was previously claimed that the new relationship between Romeo and Kim, which lasted seven months—was the catalyst for Brooklyn's feud with his family. Got a story? Sam Thompson says 'we faked it' as family bombshell unveiled on ITV DNA Journey

Sam Thompson and Marvin Humes appeared on ITV's DNA Journey on Thursday night and the former Made in Chelsea star had a surprising confession about his name Sam Thompson was left speechless as he learnt that his family 'faked' their last name to 'improve social standing'. The presenter and television personality teamed up with his mate Marvin Humes for ITV's DNA Journey, where famed duos delve into their lineage. The episode kicked off in Jamaica, unveiling Marvin's familial past and the decision to relocate to Britain, but what took Marvin aback was learning Sam knew nothing about his heritage. Sam, formerly of Made in Chelsea fame, voiced his bewilderment: "I really don't know why I haven't asked," showing signs of discomfort. He elaborated, "When you grow up with - I was on a show called Made in Chelsea, it's the posh thing. You almost don't want to know because you almost feel a bit bad." He also let slip that his surname isn't merely Thompson; it actually extends to De Courcy Thompson, further explaining why he chose to abbreviate it, reports the Manchester Evening News. "One, hard to spell. And two, you sound like a bit of a douche," Sam, 32, remarked before revealing, "We have a signet ring!". During the conversation with Marvin about his family, Marvin quickly changed the subject, cautioning Sam: "It can't be as nice and fluffy and unicorns and rainbows as it's been in Jamaica, and I'm sorry to say it, but it's looking like it's going to be you." Realising the implications, a visibly worried Sam replied when he discovered that his ancestor Charles Thompson had been in Jamaica in 1815, while Marvin comically wiped his forehead, saying, "This is going to get deep." Further details made Sam even more anxious, to which he responded: "That doesn't sound good. That sounds really bad." However, there was a twist; his ancestor Charles Thompson turned out to be a prominent figure in the Enniskillen Regiment of Foot during the Battle of Waterloo against Napoleon. Sam exclaimed with unbridled relief: "Oh my god, I'm so happy! Oh, you really scared me! You were all thinking it.." As for the fabricated nobility, it emerged that Charles's offspring Lesley invented the name De Courcy for his son Sydney to boost their societal status. Finding amusement in this, Sam laughed heartily and said: "We faked it and I'm over the moon. I've got a signet ring and it doesn't mean anything. We just gave it to ourselves. It's like those people who buy a knighthood just to call themselves sir or lady. That's us!".
