Brutal video shows masked thugs stomping on off-duty NYPD cop's face in brazen robbery
Brutal video shows the moment two masked thugs pinned an off-duty NYPD cop to the ground at knifepoint in the Bronx — and then savagely stomped on his face.
The shocking caught-on-camera assault unfolded on St. Peter's Ave. in Westchester Square after the two goons zeroed in on the officer just after 4 a.m. on Saturday, police said.
Surveillance video captured the pair approaching the cop on the sidewalk and immediately throwing him to the ground next to a huge pile of trash.

One of the alleged attackers could then be seen holding a blade to the officer's neck as the other rifled through the victim's pockets.
Before fleeing, the suspects pummeled the officer multiple times in the face and booted him in the head.
The alleged crooks made off with the officer's Glock 19 9mm service weapon and various other belongings, police said.
The off-duty cop suffered multiple facial fractures in the assault.
The injured cop — who hasn't been identified publicly — suffered a broken cheekbone and fractured eye socket in the attack, sources said.
The sick footage emerged after the NYPD identified 23-year-old Taveon Hargrove as a person of interest in the assault.
'Two individuals viciously attacked an off-duty NYPD officer,' the department said on X on Sunday. 'They forced him to the ground, struck him in the face, held a knife to his throat, and stole his belongings, including his firearm.'
Cops have since nabbed Hargrove's father for allegedly using the cop's stolen credit card at several Bronx bodegas, law enforcement sources said.
The second goon hasn't yet been identified and police are still trying to track them down.

Suspect accused in attack on off-duty NYPD officer in the Bronx pleads not guilty
Suspect accused in brutal attack on off-duty NYPD officer in the Bronx pleads not guilty Suspect accused in brutal attack on off-duty NYPD officer in the Bronx pleads not guilty Suspect accused in brutal attack on off-duty NYPD officer in the Bronx pleads not guilty One of the suspects charged in last month's brutal attack of an off-duty NYPD officer appeared at Bronx Criminal Court on Thursday. Wayne Lucas, 23, was the second person taken into custody, after being tracked down in Virginia. Investigators say he and an accomplice fled after the assault, and Lucas was wearing a wig in an attempt to disguise himself when he was taken into custody. He appeared before a judge and pleaded not guilty to multiple charges, including attempted murder of a police officer in a violent attack that left a rookie officer with life-altering injuries. Lucas was walked into court past dozens of officers and was later remanded without bail. If convicted of attempted murder, he will face 25 years to life behind bars. His next court date is set for Sept. 12. Here's what allegedly happened to the off-duty officer Surveillance video from around 4 a.m. on May 24 shows two men approaching 27-year-old Chowdhury Nafees as he walked home from work -- still in uniform -- near St. Peter's Avenue in Parkchester. Prosecutors say the suspects punched Nafees, held a knife to his throat, stole his gun, wallet, and phone, and stomped his head into the ground so forcefully that a boot print was left on the officer's face for a week. As a result, his vision is still blurry, they added. Nafees was released from Jacobi Hospital last week after undergoing multiple surgeries. "This attack was egregious and brutal" Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark and the Police Benevolent Association had much to say on Thursday. "This attack was egregious and brutal," Clark said. "Upon learning he was an officer, they took this as an invitation to turn up the violence, pushing him to the ground and stomping him on his head." "We're going to be here at every court appearance to make sure that this individual stays behind bars for a long, long time," PBA President Patrick Hendry said.

Editor's note: The above video aired on May 25, 2025. THE BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) — One of the men accused of beating and robbing an NYPD officer is facing attempted murder charges, police said. Wayne Lucas, 23, was charged Thursday with attempted murder of a police officer, attempted robbery, attempted aggravated assault of a police officer, and attempted criminal possession of a weapon, according to the NYPD. Lucas, a Staten Island resident, was taken into custody in Virginia last week. His arraignment was pending on Thursday. Lucas's accomplice, Taveon Hargrove, 23, was also arrested in Virginia last week but has still not been extradited to New York City, so he has not been charged yet, police said. Police said the suspects allegedly put a knife up to Officer Nafees Chowdhury's throat and stole his gun, iPhone, and wallet on St. Peter's Avenue at around 4 a.m. on May 24. Chowdhury was critically injured after he was stomped in the head, according to Mayor Eric Adams. The 27-year-old officer had just finished an overnight shift and was heading home. Surveillance footage shows Chowdhury, still in uniform, walking at 4:08 a.m. right before being attacked by two masked suspects. 'They approached him—one in front, one in the back—and they caught him off guard,' Adams said. 'One of them stepped on his face in a violent way.' Chowdhury, who has been a cop for eight months, was released from the hospital last week to a standing ovation from fellow cops and NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch. 'Come for one of us & you'll have the full force of the NYPD coming for you,' Tisch said in a post on X. The officer's brother-in-law, Gazi Hasan, said the family is devastated.
