'He Facetimed me' - Walker's delight at Kompany and Kane's title win
As Bayern Munich were celebrating winning the Bundesliga title recently, former England defender Kyle Walker received a somewhat unexpected video call.
"It was Vincent Kompany," he said on the The Kyle Walker podcast.
"Me and Vinny are obviously still really good friends and he does FaceTime me probably once a month. And he FaceTimed me after the win."
The current Bayern Munich boss was, of course, a team-mate of Walker's at Manchester City.
Among those celebrating too was Harry Kane, who has also played alongside Walker for both England and Tottenham.
"Harry was there with a pint of beer in his hand, which I was very, very impressed with," Walker added, saying he was delighted to see the Three Lions captain finally win the first trophy of his professional career.
"It's probably a weight off his shoulders," Walker said.
"To go there last season and not win it, and get beaten by a Leverkusen team that was very, very good, was probably a kick in the teeth for him.
"He's been to two European Championship finals and had to walk past the trophy. He's played in cup finals, played one against me. We've played in a couple together at Tottenham and in semi-finals.
"For him to then finally get a trophy, I think it's definitely more than deserved. At least no-one can start saying that anymore, that Harry Kane's not got a trophy.
"He's got a trophy now and that's it. It's put to bed."

Manchester City to propose improved bid for Lyon's Rayan Cherki

Chelsea complete second signing of summer window
Chelsea have completed the signing of Mamadou Sarr from Ligue 1 side Strasbourg for an undisclosed fee. The teenager has signed a long-term contract with Chelsea that will run until 2033. Sarr impressed as part of a Strasbourg side that finished seventh in France to secure European football for next season. The 19-year-old made 28 appearances in all competition in a breakout campaign for the centre-back. Sarr joined Strasbourg from Lyon for a fee of €10m last summer, having made just three senior appearances for the club. Sarr becomes Chelsea's second signing of the summer window, following the £30m arrival of Liam Delap from Ipswich Town. Report: Germany debutant Bischof to join Bayern for Club World Cup

Federico Gambarini/dpa Germany debutant Tom Bischof will reportedly be eligible to join Bayern Munich for the upcoming Club World Cup after the Bundesliga champions agreed to pay a fee to his previous club Hoffenheim. Kicker sports magazine said on Sunday night that Bayern will pay around €300,000 ($342,000) to have the teenager available before July 1. Advertisement The ruling body FIFA has a special transfer window running until Tuesday for the 32 clubs participating at the month-long tournament in the United States which kicks off on Saturday. Players contracts normally end on June 30 and start on July. Bayern have reportedly in a similar way secured the service of Germany defender Jonathan Tah, who arrives on a free transfer from Bayer Leverkusen. But in this case the fee is said to be up to €4 million.
