'He Facetimed me' - Walker's delight at Kompany and Kane's title win
As Bayern Munich were celebrating winning the Bundesliga title recently, former England defender Kyle Walker received a somewhat unexpected video call. "It was Vincent Kompany," he said on the The Kyle Walker podcast. "Me and Vinny are obviously still really good friends and he does FaceTime me probably once a month. And he FaceTimed me after the win." The current Bayern Munich boss was, of course, a team-mate of Walker's at Manchester City. Among those celebrating too was Harry Kane, who has also played alongside Walker for both England and Tottenham. "Harry was there with a pint of beer in his hand, which I was very, very impressed with," Walker added, saying he was delighted to see the Three Lions captain finally win the first trophy of his professional career. "It's probably a weight off his shoulders," Walker said. "To go there last season and not win it, and get beaten by a Leverkusen team that was very, very good, was probably a kick in the teeth for him. "He's been to two European Championship finals and had to walk past the trophy. He's played in cup finals, played one against me. We've played in a couple together at Tottenham and in semi-finals. "For him to then finally get a trophy, I think it's definitely more than deserved. At least no-one can start saying that anymore, that Harry Kane's not got a trophy. "He's got a trophy now and that's it. It's put to bed." Listen to The Kyle Walker Podcast Listen to the latest Football Daily podcast Get football news sent straight to your phone

'You'd hear the sound of their legs smashing into each other'
Former Tottenham defender Kyle Walker says former midfielders Victor Wanyama and Moussa Dembele were always going to be effective at Spurs given how they performed in full-back played alongside the duo who formed a dynamic partnership in the middle of Mauricio Pochettino's side."I remember at Tottenham when Wanyama and Dembele were there and in training you used to hear that sound of the legs just smashing against each other," he told The Kyle Walker Podcast."They were two big, big lads , and you half winced when they went into a challenge there because you know that they both fully committed to it. "They didn't want to hurt each other - obviously they were playing for the same team - but it showed their desire. They wanted to be the best in training and I think that just shows why they both had such fantastic careers."Walker has also spotted a Premier League rival that plays like his former team-mate Danny on The Kyle Walker podcast, he highlighted Arsenal full-back Myles Lewis-Skelly: "He is physical. He reminds me of a little bit of a guest that we had on the first season - Danny Rose. "It's how he plays. He uses his body well and he's got a good left foot on him and a good football brain."Listen to the full podcast on BBC Sounds

The 'most intelligent' player
Kyle Walker says Samir Nasri is the player he hated facing joined Manchester City from league rivals Arsenal in 2011, making 176 appearances during his six years at the club. He scored 27 and assisted a further 39 before leaving in 2017, the same summer Walker joined from on The Kyle Walker podcast, Walker said: "I used to hate playing against City when I was at Tottenham. Nasri..."If people were to say: 'OK, who is the hardest player that you've played against?', I know they would say [Kylian] Mbappe, [Sadio] Mane, Neymar, Vinicius Jr and these types of players. But, when I think about the most intelligent, who I didn't really like to be against, it would be Nasri. "He used to stand in pockets where it's very unnatural for you to go into that position. It doesn't feel normal. He kind of played number 10, so he didn't even play on the wing. So, he used to come inside. I was then: 'Do I go in and follow him? Do I leave him?' But then, all of a sudden, Gael Clichy used to be on the overlap, running in behind you. "I think that's the relationship that they built together with playing a number of years at Arsenal together. They took that to City. Whenever I came up against City, when Nasri and Clichy were playing, it was always going to be a tough game."Listen to the full podcast

Aina gets the nod from Walker
Manchester City defender Kyle Walker says Ola Aina would get his vote for a place in any Premier League Team of the 28, has impressed for Nottingham Forest during their stellar on The Kyle Walker podcast, the full-back, who is on loan at AC Milan at the moment, said: "If I would have said to you at the start of the season, 'Forest, I think I've seen a stat that they have a 90 % chance of being in the Champions League now'. You'd have said, 'no chance.'"They've just got players that have been on form. Elanga's been incredible, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Chris Wood has produced the goals that he's produced. I think the commentator the other night said a very good thing that they've kept the team fit for most of the year. They've not been, touch wood, hit with a lot of injuries."Former Premier League midfielder Michael Brown said: "I tell you who's done well, Kyle. Ola Aina, the right-back. He looks so comfortable and calm and like, in one-v-one situations he just goes, like, 'Go on go. Take me on!'"Walker added: "He plays left and right back. He's so quick. I was impressed with him a couple of years back when I played against him and just his calmness on the ball, how he defended in the one-v-one situations. You know, he would definitely get my vote for being either left or right back for the team this season, which is fully deserved."Listen to The Kyle Walker Podcast here
