Earlier this week, we mentioned that Honor is gearing up to reveal its next flip-style foldable phone, ready to go head-to-head with Samsung's latest Galaxy Z Flip 7 – at least in the world's biggest smartphone market. Well, now the company has made things official, sharing both the launch date and a sneak peek at the design and colors.
The Honor Magic V Flip 2 is set to debut on August 21. Alongside the launch date, Honor gave us our first real look at the device. And at first glance, it looks a lot like the original Magic V Flip, but there are some noteworthy upgrades.
The first thing that jumps out is the dual cameras on the cover screen. The original Magic V Flip had one large sensor and one smaller one, stacked vertically. The new model levels the playing field with two equally sized sensors. This new setup frees up more room for the external screen, which leaks suggest will measure over 4 inches.
As for colors, the phone will come in four options, including a special edition designed by Jimmy Choo – yep, the same designer whose shoes are a dream for many around the world. Clearly, Honor is aiming at fashion lovers who want a phone that doubles as a style statement.

Other than the design and launch date, Honor hasn't spilled many details yet. Luckily, leaks give us a peek at what to expect: a 5,500 mAh battery with 80W wired charging. If that's accurate, the Magic V Flip 2 would handily beat the Galaxy Z Flip 7 in battery capacity, which only packs 4,300 mAh. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 Review: The Flip in its prime
Performance-wise, don't expect Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite in the Honor flip; leaks point to the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 instead. Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip 7 runs on the Exynos 2500, which isn't exactly flagship-level either, so the two could end up pretty evenly matched. But we'll know for sure once the Magic V Flip 2 is out in the wild.
One area where Samsung might still have the upper hand? Availability. The original Magic V Flip never launched internationally, so we'll have to wait and see whether Honor is ready to take on Samsung globally or if the new flip will stay mostly a China-only affair, too.

Your Galaxy S25 Ultra might turn the Moon purple – here's what you need to know before One UI 8 goes stable

An odd Galaxy S25 Ultra bug with the camera has appeared for people running the latest version of One UI 8 Beta. Apparently, this bug makes photos of the moon appear purple for some strange reason. Luckily, as this is a beta version of the software, the bug may be dealt with before the Galaxy S25 Ultra receives the stable One UI 8 . The bug has not been spotted on devices running the stable One UI 7, so it's most likely a bug coming from the beta version. The issue has been spotted specifically in One UI 8 Beta 4, and the only condition in which the purple tint appears is when you try to take a photo of the Moon. Usually, these photos should turn white or gray. However, the alien-inspired bug makes the photo look purple. Apparently, according to multiple users on Samsung's community forum, the Moon appears purple at multiple zoom levels as well. Image Credit - @usereAZCq01bZZ on Samsung's Community forum The bug has been observed at 10x, 20x, 30x, and even 100x zoom. The photo is also said to appear normal in camera preview, with the purple coloring happening after the photo is taken. This indicates that we are likely talking about a bug in Samsung's processing. On top of that, it seems that disabling Scene Optimizer doesn't help. What's interesting (and could potentially be a problem) is that not all Galaxy S25 Ultra devices running One UI Beta 4 are running into this issue. Some of them take photos of the Moon just fine. As you can see, that's not a huge problem, but it is an annoying bug and should be addressed. It could become a bigger problem if it slips through the cracks of Samsung's quality check and isn't addressed in time. Also, the fact that not all people are experiencing it while running the beta can be either good or bad. It's good because you likely may not face it. It's bad because if it's not as widespread, Samsung may not address it as quickly. It's important to note that beta versions of software are usually buggy, and that's part of the game. These bugs usually get squashed before the stable release. Hopefully, this one will too. I personally think this is one of those funny little beta bugs that make tech news more entertaining than serious. It's not a dealbreaker, but it does show why beta versions aren't for everyone. Hopefully, Samsung fixes it soon, so the Moon can go back to looking like the Moon, not a sci-fi prop.

You might not want to commit to a phone yet – Xiaomi's 16 series could change everything

On the back, the Xiaomi 16 is rumored to rock a 50 MP main sensor with a 1/1.3" type size . The Pro model gets the same but adds "ultra high dynamic range" and a ToF (time-of-flight) sensor, which helps measure depth and distance by firing out light pulses and timing their return. That's great for more accurate focus, better portrait mode shots, and improved AR features. By subscribing you agree to our terms and conditions and privacy policy If the Xiaomi 16 series delivers these rumored camera upgrades, would you switch to it? Absolutely, cameras are the top priority for me. Maybe, but I'd need to see real-world reviews first. No, my current phone's camera is good enough. Not interested in Xiaomi at all. Still, if this information turns out to be true, the upcoming Xiaomi 16 could bring a noticeable boost in camera performance compared to the. It probably won't match the leap we expect from the Xiaomi 16 Ultra, which is set to follow up on the current champion in our camera now, theUltra is neck and neck with the Galaxy S25 Ultra , but the Xiaomi 16 Ultra might push things even further with something truly game-changing – like continuous optical zoom. Basically, if a subject is too far for your 3x zoom but too close for your 5x, you could nail it at 3.5x or 4.1x without losing sharpness.

Pixel 10 series official cases surface ahead of launch

Google's all new Pixel 10 lineup is set to launch next week. Pretty much everything about the upcoming phones have been leaked. Now, the official cases for the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and the 10 Pro XL have also surfaced. The official Pixel 10 cases appear largely similar in design to the Pixel 9 cases, including the soft lining on the inside. However, a new ring element is seen on the inner side with a Pixel logo. This is likely because the new Pixel phones are rumored to support Qi2 wireless charging and feature inbuilt magnets. Pixel 10 series will also be offered in new colors, and the cases match them. The Pixel 10 cases will be available in Indigo, Obsidian, Limoncello, and Frost options. The Pixel 10 Pro and 10 Pro XL cases are seen in the expected Moonstone, Jade, and Porcelain colors. Google will also offer a black case for the Obsidian variant of the phones. The new Pixel 10 series cases are expected to work along with the Pixelsnap range of accessories that are rumored to launch alongside the phones. Google Pixel 9 Pro XL Google Pixel 10 series including the Pixel 10 Pro Fold is set to launch on August 20 at a Made by Google event.
