Yankees superstar right fielder Aaron Judge has a flexor strain and will spend time on the injured list, though he sustained no damage to his UCL, New York manager Aaron Boone said after Saturday's 9-4 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies.
Judge underwent imaging on his right elbow Saturday morning and was not in the lineup for the afternoon game against the visiting Phillies.
'He had a throw in Toronto where it zinged him, it hurt,' manager Aaron Boone told reporters Saturday, referencing Tuesday's 5-4 victory in Toronto when the Yankees captain winced in apparent pain after making a routine throw.
'Then, you know, felt good to go on the off day, and then last night, though, just was struggling to throw a little bit. So want to get this checked out.'
Boone said it was 'tough to say' whether the strain occurred during that throw in Toronto.
He said the injury appears to be affecting Judge's throwing more than his hitting.
'It was more about throwing last night, like he couldn't really get the ball in very well,' Boone said. 'So felt like want to have him down and get the imaging and get our hands around just what exactly we're dealing with.'
Judge, 33, belted his 37th home run of the season and 352nd of his career on Wednesday to pass Alex Rodriguez for sixth place in Yankees history. Yogi Berra is fifth with 358.
The two-time American League MVP currently paces the majors in batting average (.342), on-base percentage (.449) and slugging percentage (.756). He leads the AL in runs (90) and RBIs (85).

NEW YORK (AP) — Aaron Judge hit his first homer in nearly three weeks, Giancarlo Stanton had his first four-hit game in nearly two years, and Carlos Rodón allowed one hit in seven innings as the New York Yankees routed the Minnesota Twins 9-1 on Tuesday night. Stanton went 4 for 5 for his first four-hit game since Aug. 24, 2023 against Washington. He doubled in his first at-bat, homered in the fifth and singled in his final two at-bats before getting lifted for a pinch runner following a two-run single. Rodón (12-7) allowed a leadoff single to Austin Martin and cruised after a 31-pitch first inning. He became the first Yankee to complete seven innings since the left-hander pitched eight against the Cubs on July 11. Judge homered for the first time since July 23 when he hit a drive off Minnesota rookie starter Travis Adams (1-2). Anthony Volpe hit a tiebreaking three-run homer in the second as the Yankees beat the Twins for the ninth straight time. Stanton added a homer in the fifth to give the Yankees a 5-1 lead. Angels aim to continue recent mastery of Dodgers

The Angels took a 4-0 lead in the six-game series with a 7-4 victory on Monday night. Shortstop Zach Neto reached base five times, going 3-for-3 with two solo home runs, three runs and two walks, while starter Jose Soriano allowed just two singles over six shutout innings. It was the fifth straight victory over the defending World Series champions going back to last season for the Angels. The loss dropped the Dodgers to just 12-19 since July 4, and their lead in the National League West fell to one game over the red-hot San Diego Padres, winners of 12 of their past 15. The bitter NL West rivals play six times over a 10-game span beginning with a three-game series at Dodger Stadium on Friday night.
