Red Raiders superstar pitcher Nijaree Canady helped the lead the team to their first Women's College Word Series appearance in school history.
After Mahomes sent the team personalized letterman jackets and new Adidas sneakers, the three-time Super Bowl MVP and his wife, Brittany Mahomes, traveled to Oklahoma City to watch the Red Raiders take on the Texas Longhorns in Game 2 of the WCWS.
After taking a Game 1 loss, Texas Tech evened the series with a 4-3 win with the Mahomes in attendance.

Brittany and Mahomes returned to Devon Park to watch the series-clinching Game 3. Canady, pitching for the third-straight game, got blown up for five runs in the first inning, and the Red Raiders couldn't force comeback.

While Texas won their first-ever WCWS championship with a 10-4 victory, the Red Raiders' future looks bright, especially with Canady set to return for another season.
Canady, the first softball player to sign a $1 million NIL deal, inked another 7-figure contract with the Matador Club, the Red Raiders collective. Brittany celebrated the big news on June 7.
She posted the exciting announcement and wrote, "Invest in women's sports & athletes. Hell of a run @nija.canady 👏🏻👏🏻."

Derrick Shelby, Canady's manager, told ESPN, "Nija Canady is the most electrifying player in softball. She's box office and she goes out every day and competes.

"The decision to stay at Tech was not difficult. This program has taken care of her. They have showed how much she is appreciated. The entire staff, her teammates, the school in general have been great. Tonight she is playing for a national championship and she is making history. Everything she wants from this game she can get here at Texas Tech."

The report interviewed nine women about their experiences with the Dallas Buyers Club actor, 53, which date back to the mid-2000s. Another woman, who was also 16 when she met Leto, described receiving increasingly sexual and inappropriate late-night phone calls from the actor over several weeks. She told Air Mail that the calls would always come 'at 1, 2, 3 a.m., and the conversations turned sexual. He'd ask things like, 'Have you ever had a boyfriend? Have you ever sucked a dick?'' The young woman, who was in rehab at the time, said the calls terrified her. 'He changed—his voice, the way he talked. It scared me,' she told Air Mail. 'That was the first time I thought, 'Oh my God, that's not just in movies.'' Other women described similarly chilling behavior from Leto, with one woman telling Air Mail, 'He'd be sweet, then suddenly really demeaning. It was a switch.' Another told the outlet about hooking up with Leto at an 18-and-older nightclub when she was 20, which eventually resulted in her visiting his home several times. She was disturbed by her experiences, however, telling Air Mail, 'He was weird. Look, I know some people are kinky, and that's fine. But his kind of kink—it just didn't feel right.' An actress who started texting Leto when she was underage echoed this sentiment, telling Air Mail how visits to his home would quickly become uncomfortable after he would ask her questions such as, 'Do any of the little boys you hang out with fuck you?' Ironman triathlon to bring thousands of athletes to Springfield area The Springfield Police Department and Town of West Springfield have announced several road closures in preparation for Sunday's event, expected to host elite athletes and enthusiastic spectators. The triathlon begins with a 1.2-mile downriver swim in the Connecticut River, followed by a 56-mile bike ride starting at Riverfront Park and winding through scenic New England countryside. The final leg is a 13.1-mile run, newly rerouted this year to pass through Springfield's Forest Park, before finishing in downtown. Woodlake High softball caps dream season with CIF SoCal title, plus Corcoran in action
Woodlake High softball coach Ramon Lara had faith in his team that they could have a magical season. With just one loss all season, the second-seeded Tigers were on a mission to make sure that they would not lose another game. Woodlake capped a dream season Saturday with a 4-3 victory over No. 1 Pioneer Valley in the California Interscholastic Federation Southern California Division IV championship. 'Many years of having a good group of girls that work together, and it all came together,' Woodlake coach Ramon Lara said. 'We've had a good core of girls that have played together since they were about 12 ... seventh graders. They're all junior and senior and they've become kind of a family where they know each other really well.' Woodlake scored one run in the top of the seventh inning, which proved to be a decisive win since Pioneer Valley scored a run in the bottom half of the inning. Audrina Rodriguez finished the season 22-0 after pitching a five hitter. The Tigers (30-1) celebrated their SoCal title with 15 pizzas at Mountain Mike's in Pismo Beach. The Tigers' lone loss this season was to South 10-4 at the Woodlake Tournament. Woodlake won the Central Section Division IV title after an 8-1 victory over Coalinga at Margie Wright Diamond on May 31. No. 1-seed Corcoran trailed 4-0 and rallied, scoring a run in the sixth and two runs in the seventh, but lost 4-3 to No. 3 Pioneer-Whittier in the SoCal Division V championship. The Panthers finished the season 27-5 and a Central Section V title after an 18-6 victory over Shafter.
