and no family member of big leaders or industrialists undertakes it.
Responding to the comment, Minister of State for Transport (Independent Charge)
Dayashankar Singh
said that it is a matter of faith for devotees of
Lord Shiv
and no education is needed for it.

Speaking at a programme organised by the Samajwadi Party at district headquarters, Rizvi, a former cabinet minister in the earlier Akhilesh Yadav government, said, "Illiterate and superstitious people from villages go on Kanwar Yatra."
"Flowers are being showered on Kanwar Yatris. Why do no son of an IAS officer or PCS officer, or the sons of Amit Shah, Anil Ambani or of any BJP MP or MLA go for the Kanwar Yatra?"
Rebutting the remarks, Dayashankar Singh, who is also the MLA from Ballia assembly constituency, said, "This is a matter of faith. Crores of people are devotees of Lord Shiv. There is no need for education to become a Lord Shiv devotee."

"People walk 120 kilometres to collect Ganga water and offer it to Lord Shiv. Lord Shiv is the God of all, and there is no need of education (to worship him)," Singh added.

Lucknow: The first full-time vice-chancellor of Dr Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University (DSMNRU) and former professor and head of Ancient Indian History and Archaeology at Lucknow University , Prof Nishith Rai (61), passed away after prolonged illness on Tuesday. Rai is survived by his wife, Aneeta Rai, son Vidhu Shekhar, an IAS officer, and daughter Shachi Rai, an assistant professor at Lucknow University's economics department. The academic fraternity and students across the country and abroad mourned the demise of Prof Rai. He held various positions, including the director of the Regional Centre for Urban and Environmental Studies, and was a member of the executive council of various universities. He was also the founder of a newspaper. As a teacher, he guided around 30 PhD and four MPhil scholars. Not just people in academia, but many senior leaders, including senior functionary of the Samajwadi Party , Shivpal Yadav, reached his residence and paid respect to the departed soul. SP corporator plants paddy in potholes on Lucknow road
1 2 Lucknow: In an innovative protest, Samajwadi Party corporator Mohammad Shakir planted paddy in the water-filled potholes on the Kanhaiya Madhopur–Faridipur Road in Lucknow, bringing attention to the pressing issue of the city' poor road conditions. The road, which connects several localities and is used daily by nearly 5,000 residents, has been crying for attention for years, with huge potholes and waterlogged stretches. Locals claimed Rs 2.5–3 crore was sanctioned for the area's development, but the road was never repaired. With the onset of the monsoon, deep potholes turned into waterlogged pits, making the stretch unsafe for commuters. Residents complained of frequent accidents and daily inconvenience, echoing their frustration. "This problem has been here for seven years. Every rainy season, the road turns into a pond, and we risk our lives on it," said Manoj Kumar, a daily commuter. Another local, Shabana Begum, said, "We were told money was sanctioned, but nothing happened. Children going to school and people on two-wheelers are the worst affected." Stating that multiple appeals to the municipal corporation have gone unanswered, the corporator said: "When the govt and the municipal corporation are unable to repair the road, why should the public not change its use and make it a farm? At least the public will get some benefit." A senior LMC official said, "The budget has been allotted for the road construction in the areas facing these issues. Smaller mafias have merged into a mega-ones: Akhilesh
Lucknow: SamajwadiParty president Akhilesh Yadav on Monday accused the BJP-led state government of corruption, citing the recent arrest of a Kanpur lawyer for running an extortion racket. In an X post in Hindi, Yadav said there is a 'triangle of BJP corruption' in Uttar Pradesh -- 'the corrupt BJP government involved in fake encounters, corrupt officials amassing black money and shielded by the BJP, and a corrupt lawyer covering up their misdeeds.' Targeting the Yogi Adityanath government's anti-mafia campaign, Yadav wrote, 'The corrupt individuals who earned crores of rupees were never spotted by drones or binoculars, the matter came to light only when their own extortion racket was exposed. Let's see whether the bulldozers move on their own against encroachments by this BJP-backed land mafia after my post, or some bigger extortionist will hush up the matter by collecting money from everyone.' He further said, 'Where are those who claimed that Uttar Pradesh has become mafia-free? The truth is, Uttar Pradesh has not become 'mafia-free', instead the smaller mafias have merged into a 'mega mafia'.' Yadav's remarks referred to the arrest of lawyer Akhilesh Dubey and his aide Lavi Mishra in Kanpur earlier this month.
