Pakistan Rocket Force: Pakistan is rapidly expanding its military capabilities post Operation Sindoor setback, and has now announced the establishing of a rocket force, a new military unit of the Pakistan Army, which will be created on the lines of China's People's Liberation Army Rocket Force (PLARF).
As per details, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif made the announcement during the country's 78th Independence Day celebrations on Thursday, revealing Pakistan Rocket Force, officially named the Army Rocket Force Command (ARFC), will be established as a separate unit of the Pakistan Army. What is the Pakistan Rocket Force?
According to media reports, the Army Rocket Force Command aka the Pakistan Rocket Force, will be deployed as a special unit of the Pakistan Army, and have the command of the country's conventional missile and rocket systems. The Pakistan Rocket Force will command ballistic, cruise and hypersonic weapons acquired from China under an integrated command structure, providing support to the Pakistan Army by taking charge of missile and rocket systems.
Notably, Pakistan is rapidly stocking its weapons' arsenal at war footing, purchasing advanced weapons systems, including 40 J-35 stealth fighter aircraft, KJ-500 early warning aircraft and the HQ-19 anti-ballistic missile system, which is likely to be under the command of Pakistan's rocket force. Why Asim Munir is reorganizing Pakistan Army?
As per military experts, Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir has stepped up the reorganization of the army after the crushing defeat it faced at India's hands during Operation Sindoor in May this year. Experts believe the formation of the Pakistan Rocket Force is a major step in that direction, aimed at achieving aggressive strategic interests.
Strategists fear that Pakistan's new military unit could disturb the balance of power in the region, threaten regional security, and also trigger a new arms race in South Asia. How Pakistan Rocket Force is a concern for India?
Military experts believe that Pakistan's rocket force is primarily aimed at gaining military superiority over India, particularly the missile prowess of Indian armed forces. A centralized command of long-range rocket and missile systems will give Pakistan the capability to attack India's air defense, airports and command centers.
Several pro-Pakistan military experts have termed the rocket force as a 'game-changer', while Indian strategists have urged New Delhi to prepare countermeasures in wake of the new threat.

Following the Indian action, Pakistan attempted to attack Indian military bases on May 8, 9 and 10. India and Pakistan reached an understanding on May 10 to end the conflict after four days of intense cross-border drone and missile strikes. It was the first Independence Day anniversary since the conflict with India in May brought the two countries within the shadow of an all-out war. AIFF counsel likely to mention ISL impasse to Supreme Court on Monday

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) is likely to mention the raging issue concerning the Indian Super League before the Supreme Court on Monday. The apex court has reserved its judgement on draft AIFF constitution and a hearing is scheduled for Monday. Hundreds of Indian and foreign footballers are living in uncertainty as the Masters Rights Agreement (MRA) between Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL) and AIFF with regards to Indian Super League is yet to be signed. The clubs have decided not to pay salaries to the players and support staff till the impasse continues. 'Yes we will be attempting to mention but since judgement is reserved we have to see how the judges takes it. If they feel there is merit in appeal, they may ask for an application to be filed. The plight of the players, clubs and football need to be brought to their notice, ' a club source told PTI. The AIFF on Wednesday asked the legal counsels of the game's apex body and the ISL clubs to 'hold discussions' on the teams' concerns about the uncertainty over the upcoming season of the top-tier league. Last week, 11 Indian Super League clubs had urged the AIFF to urgently bring the 'current situation' of Indian football, arising out of the uncertainty over ISL's future, to the attention of the Supreme Court before which a case relating to the constitution of the national federation is pending. The ISL clubs, in a letter, said that they will have no option but to seek judicial recourse independently if the AIFF does not act on their request. 'On August 13, the AIFF responded and requested that the legal counsels of the clubs and the federation meet to hold discussions on the matter and decide on further action,' the AIFF tweeted. The clubs requested the AIFF to approach the top court a day after the national federation proposed the Super Cup in September to ensure sufficient competitive matches for the clubs after ISL organisers FSDL put a 'pause' on the league due to uncertainty over the renewal of Master Rights Agreement (MRA) it signed with them in 2010. The crisis deepened after ISL organisers FSDL put the 2025-26 season 'on hold' on July 11 due to uncertainty over the renewal of the MRA, prompting at least three clubs to either pause first-team operations or suspend player and staff salaries.

Operation Sindoor an example of humanity's fight against terrorism: President Murmu

Operation Sindoor will go down in history as an example of humanity's fight against terrorism and India responded to the cowardly and inhuman Pahalgam terror attack with a steely resolve, President Droupadi Murmu said in her address to the nation on the eve of the 79th Independence Day. President Murmu lauded the country's unity and said the military action on the terror hubs across the border was a test case for growing self-reliance in the defence sector. Also Read President Murmu's speech on the eve of Independence Day 2025 'Operation Sindoor showed that our armed forces are prepared to meet any eventuality when it comes to guarding the nation. With strategic clarity and technical capability, they destroyed terrorist hubs across the border. I believe, Operation Sindoor will go down in history as an example in humanity's fight against terrorism,' Ms. Murmu said. 'In our response, what was most noticeable was our unity, which is also the most befitting response to those who wanted to divide us,' she added. Referring to the multi-party parliamentary delegations that reached out to various nations to explain India's position on cross-border terrorism, she said, 'The world has taken note of India's stance, that we will not be the aggressor, but we will not hesitate to retaliate in defence of our citizens.' The President also paid rich tributes to India's ancient democratic traditions, successful transition from colonialism to a modern democracy on the basis of universal adult suffrage and the Constitution for 'providing the edifice of democracy'. 'We built democratic institutions that strengthened the practice of democracy. We prize our Constitution and our democracy above everything else,' she said. Talking about the economy, she asserted that India is well on the way to becoming a developed economy by 2047, moving ahead with great confidence to be a self-reliant nation. She noted that even amid a global stress, India is considered as one of the fastest growing major economies, with growing domestic demand, inflation under control and GDP growth of 6.5% last fiscal. 'The all-round economic growth complemented by social sector initiatives has placed India well on the path of becoming a developed nation by 2047. With the nation marching ahead during the Amrit Kaal, I see all of us contributing to the best of our ability,' she said. Invoking Mahatma Gandhi's statement 'corruption and hypocrisy ought not to be inevitable products of democracy,' the President stressed on the importance of sustained good governance and a 'zero tolerance for corruption'. Highlighting the nation's focus on technological innovation, specifically artificial intelligence (AI) and the India-AI mission launched by the government, she said, 'As we aspire to become a global AI hub by 2047, our focus will remain on making the best use of the advances in technology for the common people, to improve their lives by improving governance'. The President also emphasised that development is truly meaningful only when it benefits marginalised communities and creates new opportunities for them. Ms. Murmu mentioned several flagship programmes of the government such as how Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) through digital payments and transfers, Ayushman Bharat scheme for healthcare, the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation, Jal Jeevan Mission have brought about landmark changes in people's lives. She also noted that Shubhanshu Shukla's space journey to the International Space Station has fired a whole generation to dream bigger and mentioned India's strides in the world of sports.
