Pakistan responded with cross-border shelling in Jammu and Kashmir and a series of drone attacks targeting military establishments and civilian areas, a majority of which were thwarted by Indian air defence systems. India also struck Pakistani airbases, including the Nur Khan airbase in Islamabad. Hostilities lasted till May 10, when the two countries declared a ceasefire. During his address on May 12, PM Narendra Modi drew a 'new red line' while articulating India's redefined doctrine against cross-border terrorism. He said acts of terror will be met with a befitting response, adding that India will not distinguish between terrorists and state-sponsors of terror. Currently, India has sent seven multi-party delegations — three of which are led by opposition leaders, including Congress's Shashi Tharoor — to rally global support for India's war against terror.
