"Ministry of defence invites young minds to make their voices heard! Participate in the MoD & @mygovindia bilingual essay contest on #OperationSindoor - Redefining India's Policy Against #Terrorism," the ministry said in a post on X.
"Top 3 winners will receive Rs 10,000 each and get an exclusive chance to attend the 78th #IndependenceDay celebrations at #RedFort, Delhi!" it added.
Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7 to target nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, in response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives.
The operation continued to serve as the framework for all subsequent counter-actions against Pakistani aggression.
The PM Narendra Modi-led central government has set new benchmarks in tackling terrorism, with Operation Sindoor marking a shift in India's counter-terrorism approach.
The government has said that India has drawn a 'new red line' and established a 'new normal' in responding to both domestic and cross-border terror threats.

YSRCP to launch App for reporting ‘harassment and injustice by officials'
The YSRCP is preparing to launch a mobile application next week that is designed to document and report 'instances of harassment and injustice by the officials.' Disclosing this at the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) meeting on Tuesday, YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy said the app would be useful to lodge complaints against the officials who 'harass or mistreat' people or party workers. 'People can submit detailed accounts of the incidents, along with any supporting evidence, such as photos or documents. They will be securely stored in a digital library server,' he said, adding, 'The moment our government comes to power, we will open this digital library and ensure that those responsible are held accountable under the law. Those responsible will be brought to justice with interest. No one will be spared.' Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy alleged that the NDA dispensation was engaged in 'deception and vengeance.' The Naidu-led government misused State machinery to target YSRCP leaders through false cases and arrests. The arrests of MP Midhun Reddy, Nandigam Suresh, Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy and Kakani Govardhan Reddy were politically motivated, he alleged. Allegations against police 'A few police officials, including DIGs, DSPs, and CIs, are involved in organised crime, extortion, and illegal liquor auctions, with kickbacks allegedly flowing to the MLAs and even the Chief Minister's family,' Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy alleged. Tharoor raises delinking of BrahMos Thiruvananthapuram unit from parent firm in Parliament
Shashi Tharoor, MP, has drawn the Union government's urgent attention to the reported move to delink the Thiruvananthapuram unit of BrahMos from the parent BrahMos Aerospace Pvt. Ltd. (BAPL). Raising the matter under Rule 377 in the Lok Sabha, Mr. Tharoor called for the intervention of the Ministry of Defence and the Union government to protect BrahMos Aerospace Thiruvananthapuram Ltd. (BATL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of BAPL, considering its strategic importance. Mr. Tharoor urged the Union government to ensure that either the BATL, located in his parliamentary constituency, remained under the Indo-Russian missile joint venture the BAPL or was reconstituted as a direct production centre under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). He said the resolution to delink the BATL was passed without consultation with the State government, stakeholders, or the employee unions, causing anxiety among the staff. The BATL, he pointed out, manufactured precision components, engines, other critical systems for the BrahMos missile programmes. Its workforce had played a significant role in boosting India's strategic defence capabilities, he said, highlighting the need to address the matter without delay. Though members are allowed to raise matters of urgent public importance under Rule 377 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Lok Sabha, Mr. Tharoor in a post on X said his submission on the challenges faced by the BrahMos plant in Thiruvananthapuram was tabled on account of the debate on Operation Sindoor in the Lok Sabha, which was ironic in view of the successful deployment of BrahMos during Sindoor.
