GRO Studios & Three River Fiction Ready Nordic Noir ‘Reyna' In Unusual UK-Faroese Co-Pro Pairing
EXCLUSIVE: The Faroe Islands' GRÓ Studios and the UK's Three River Fiction are bringing a crime thriller, Reyna, to Series Mania next week.
Based on an original idea from UK writer Chris Ould, the series will follow a British detective, Jan Reyna, whose family ties to the Faroe Islands draw him back to the country. It's being billed as 'a Nordic noir crime thriller through a fresh and unconventional British-Faroese lens.'

Plot details are scarce, but it will involve themes of identity, genealogy, biotech and generational trauma, alongside thriller tropes and the rugged beauty and haunting atmosphere of the Faroe Islands. Casting will be unveiled at a later date.
London-based Three River Fiction is known for BBC and Virgin Media Television drama series Dead and Buried, which starred Annabel Scholey and Colin Morgan, while the Faroe Islands' GRÓ Studios is a joint venture between creator, writer and executive producer Torfinnur Jákupsson and producer Jón Hammer.
The partners plan to pitch the project at Series Mania and secure further financing, production partners and international distribution. There will be multiple Nordic projects on show at the event in Lille, France, including the first Finnish-Swedish showcase, as we reported yesterday.
The news comes after we revealed earlier this week that Jákupsson had launched UK production outfit Red Herring Story, which will act as an international co-production player in the North Atlantic region.
Jákupsson is the creator of Trom, a Faroese crime procedural that was picked up by networks across Europe, including the BBC in the UK. He has previously detailed to us his bid to put the Faroe Islands on the global film and TV map.
Today, he said: 'With Reyna, we're deepening our exploration of what Nordic noir can be, bringing a uniquely British-Faroese story to a global audience. This partnership with the UK represents an exciting next step for Faroese drama and for international co-production in the region, both in terms of industry growth and in how we tell stories that are both intimate and far-reaching, rooted in our heritage but resonating far beyond it.
'It also marks an important step for GRÓ Studios as we branch out internationally with our new UK affiliate Red Herring Story. Reyna is exactly the kind of layered, investigative storytelling we want to bring to the international market.'
Benjamin McGrath, Reyna co-creator and executive producer at Three River Fiction, added: 'Trom showed us the rugged beauty of the Faroes and their natural capacity for great storytelling, and Reyna will continue this success as the first ever UK-Faroese drama co-production. Reyna is a complex exploration of genealogy and lineage and is as much a story of our main character's self-discovery as it is a knotty crime thriller. It's exciting to be partnering with Torfinnur to push the genre into fresh, uncharted territory.'

UK: David Beckham, Gary Oldman and Roger Daltrey knighted
Former England footballer David Beckham, The Who's musician Roger Daltrey and actor Gary Oldman were knighted in King Charles's annual birthday honors list. The 50-year-old former player, who can now call himself Sir David Beckham, told the PA news agency that he could never have imagined receiving such an honorable award. "I'm immensely proud and it's a very emotional moment for me to share with my family," he said. Beckham joined Manchester United as a trainee in 1993 and went on to make nearly 400 appearances for the club, winning a string of titles and cups. He then played for Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, and AC Milan. He also captained his country 58 times and made 115 appearances. One of the highlights: in 1999, he won the Champions League final with Manchester United against FC Bayern. His 1999 marriage to fashion designer and former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham cemented his celebrity status, which far surpassed his sporting achievements. In 2003, Beckham had already been elevated to the rank of Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE). 67-year-old Oldman began his career on stage as a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company before rising to prominence in film. He won the Best Actor Oscar for playing Winston Churchill in the 2017 drama "Darkest Hour." He also had roles in the "Dark Knight" trilogy and the "Harry Potter" movie series. More recently, he starred in the TV spy drama "Slow Horses." Roger Daltrey, the lead singer of the rock band The Who and a patron of the Teenage Cancer Trust, was knighted for his charitable work. The British government announced that more than 1,200 people received honors for their achievements, particularly those who dedicated their time to public service. King Charles's official birthday will be celebrated with the annual "Trooping the Colour" military parade in London on Saturday. His actual birthday is November 14. Edited by:

Princess Eugenie Subtly Forms Alliance With William as She Distances Herself From ‘Close' Cousin Harry
The British Royal family drama has reached a point where it seems like everyone has to pick sides. And picking sides they are. From Princess Alexandra, to Princess Beatrice and Eugenie, Prince Andrew's kids, everyone's choosing what side they stand on in the feud between Prince William and Prince Harry. And considering Prince William seems ready to cut Prince Andrew off from the family forever, it might be surprising what side his daughter seems to be on. Princess Eugenie is said to have formed an alliance with Prince William, one that comes from their shared passion for the environment. The Princess, who used to be very close with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, has clearly chosen a side according to the New York Post and has strengthened her relationship with both William and Kate Middleton. More from StyleCaster Prince William Faces Devastating News After King Charles' Cancer Found 'Incurable' Charles Just Created a 'Huge Problem' With Beatrice & Eugenie Amid Reports William Wants 'Toxic' Andrew Out of the Family Related: Did William really cheat on Kate? 'Eugenie has been supportive of Harry and Meghan for years and was right there at the beginning of their relationship — but it has now soured,' a source told the Sun about the cousins. Eugenie had remained on close terms with Harry and Meghan long after their departure from royal duties, and is thought the be the only royal who has visited the couple in the United States. She was even featured in their 2022 Netflix documentary, Harry & Meghan. This comes amid long-standing reports that Prince William is crafting his own blueprint for the next generation of working royals. And that future very much does not include his uncle, Prince Andrew. 'Prince William has long had a strained and distant relationship with Andrew,' royal expert Hilary Fordwich told Fox News Digital, adding that the Prince holds 'a grudge against his disgraced uncle.' 'Andrew's future within the royal family is beyond bleak, since Prince William is firmly opposed to any public rehabilitation with no foreseeable path back,' Fordwich also told the outlet. 'He wants Andrew to vanish from public view.' However, his daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, are widely expected to take on larger roles when Prince William becomes King. The two are not working members of the royal family, but they step in unofficially when needed. 'When William ascends the throne, Beatrice and Eugenie will be valuable assets, and I'm certain they will get involved with royal duties. It makes perfect sense, because he will need them,' Ingrid Seward, royal author and editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine, told Hello!. Someone who will likely not have anything to do with Prince William's new ideas for the monarchy is his brother, Prince Harry. In fact, some reports even indicate William is ready to strip his brother and Meghan Markle of their titles. 'It's no secret William wants Harry more harshly dealt with. He thinks he has betrayed the family from top to bottom, which is the ultimate Windsor crime. It wouldn't take much to provoke him to flex his muscles when he is king,' a palace insider told The Daily Beast. To recap, Princess Eugenie is yet another royal who is sticking with the monarchy on this feud. And she could become someone we see way more often as soon as Prince William becomes King.
