MP: Four Naxalites, Including Three Women, Killed In Balaghat Encounter

Security forces gunned down four Naxalites, including three women, in an encounter which took place in the hilly area of Pachama Dadar in Madhya Pradesh's Balaghat district, police said on Saturday.
Security forces also recovered a hand grenade, a rocket launcher, a 315 rifle and cartridges, Special DG Naxal, Pankaj Srivastava told ANI over the phone.
"Four Naxalites, including three women, have been neutralised in an encounter which took place in the hilly area of Pachama Dadar of Bithli police station. A hand grenade, a rocket launcher, a 315 rifle and cartridges have been recovered," Special DG Naxal told ANI.
Some Naxalites succeeded in escaping from the encounter site. The search operations for them are underway.
Additionally, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav also confirmed the development, calling it a part of the state's continuing mission to eliminate Naxalism by March 2026.
"Under the guidance of Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, Madhya Pradesh is continuously working towards our resolve to end Naxalism by March 2026. 4 Naxalites have been killed in the encounter in Balaghat today, including 3 women and a man. Many weapons and ammunition, including rocket launcher, have been recovered from them," Yadav said.
MP CM Yadav said that the government will reward the personnel for their success in the incident.
"The Madhya Pradesh government will definitely reward the policemen who brought good results in this incident," Yadav said.
Earlier, Security forces neutralised two Naxals in an encounter in the forest area under Kukanar Police Station area of Chhattisgarh's Sukma district, police said.
According to Sukma Superintendent of Police Kiran Chavan, automatic weapons were also recovered from the spot.

Mitigation of human-elephant conflict will be the focus of World Elephant Day celebrations to be held in Coimbatore on Tuesday (August 12, 2025) by the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC). Minister for MoEF&CC Bhupender Yadav will preside over the celebrations, which is organised in collaboration with the Tamil Nadu Forest Department. A press release said 33 elephant reserves and 150 elephant corridors reflected the strong protection framework for elephants in India, which was home to nearly 60% of the world's wild elephant population. 'With robust legal protection, strong institutional frameworks, and widespread public support, the country is recognised worldwide as a leader in reconciling human welfare with wildlife conservation. Elephants are accorded the status of National Heritage Animal and are deeply embedded in the country's traditions and culture' it said. The annual event reaffirms the global commitment to conserve one of the planet's most iconic species and to strengthen measures to ensure their long-term survival, it stated. According to the Ministry, Tamil Nadu, known for its biological and cultural richness, has a significant population of elephants and plays a vital role in mitigating human-elephant conflict. Tuesday's event will serve as a platform for foresters, policymakers, civil society representatives and wildlife experts to exchange ideas on conservation strategies and conflict resolution, it stated. Mr. Yadav will inaugurate the event in the presence of Kirti Vardhan Singh, Union Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, and R.S. Rajakannappan, Minister for Forests and Khadi, Tamil Nadu. Senior officials from MoEF&CC, Tamil Nadu Forest Department, Ministry of Railways and officials from other States. A workshop on human-elephant conflict at the event will provide a platform for elephant range States to share their challenges related to human-elephant coexistence and discuss the mitigation measures being implemented in their respective regions. Significant seizures of contraband items were recently made by Mizoram Police at several locations."A joint operation on August 9 by the Special Narcotics Police Station under CID Crime and the 225 Battalion CRPF in Aizawl led to the interception of a car in the Seling and Bungbangla areas. Authorities seized 3.930 kilograms of methamphetamine tablets, estimated at Rs 51.09 lakh. Three individuals — Sahab Uddin (41), Emanuel Remnalalliana (25), and Lalbiaksiama (23) — were arrested. A case has been registered under sections 22(c), 25, and 29(1) of the NDPS on August 6, Champhai Police seized 1.053 kilograms (88 soap cases) of suspected heroin valued at Rs 31.59 lakh from a vehicle at the Khankawn Checkgate. Agnes Lalremsiami (32) was arrested in connection with this case registered under section 21(c) of the NDPS Act. One of the largest seizures took place on August 1, when a joint team from CID Special Branch and Special Narcotics PS intercepted a pickup truck on the Zemabawk-Seling route. Officers discovered a hidden compartment containing 20.304 kilograms of suspected crystal methamphetamine worth approximately Rs 300 crore, along with 1.625 kilograms (120 soap cases) of heroin valued at Rs 49.56 lakh. The driver, B Lalthazuala (45), was arrested, and a subsequent interrogation led to the arrest of the main suspect, Bawilianthang (42). The case is registered under sections 21(c), 22(c), and 25 of the NDPS another operation on the night of August 1, Lunglei Police and the 20th Battalion Assam Rifles seized 220.81 grams (18 soap cases) of heroin, valued at Rs 6.62 lakh, from a passenger named Lalrintluangi (33) aboard a Lunglei-bound vehicle from Champhai. Additional heroin totalling 120.31 grams (10 soap cases), worth Rs 3.61 lakh, was seized from three other passengers in the same vehicle. On July 31, Champhai Police at Khankawn Checkgate recovered 167 grams (16 soap cases) of heroin, valued at Rs 5.01 lakh, from Lalmuanawma (38) and K. Lalawmpuia (27). In a separate incident, the same day, 364 grams (31 soap cases) of heroin worth Rs 10.92 lakh were seized from three individuals residing in Aizawl.A coordinated operation on July 28 by Champhai Police and CID Special Branch led to the seizure of 440 grams (36 soap cases) of heroin worth Rs 13.20 lakh from Kalpo Jyoti Borah (26) of Assam and Rajan Brahma (32) of Arunachal Pradesh. The drugs were concealed in a hidden compartment inside a vehicle, which was also seized. (ANI)
