(Video) 'Not Falling For That': NMIXX's Lily Declines Fan's Request To Sing Off-Pitch During Livestream

Hype Malaysia25-04-2025

K-pop idol livestreams are either the most relaxing experience or absolute chaos – there's no in-between. A lot can go wrong when you're live on air, and most of the time, it's too late for damage control, even with a follow-up apology.
Thankfully, incidents like these are rare, and livestreams are generally a fun way for idols to connect with fans, taking silly requests, answering questions, and sharing personal stories. However, one singer was noticeably cautious when a viewer asked her to do something on camera, a request she politely declined. So, what exactly was it? Let's find out:
Yesterday (Thursday, 24th April), NMIXX (엔믹스) 's Lily (릴리) held a solo livestream for fans. During the broadcast, one viewer asked the singer to deliberately sing off-pitch, a request she firmly declined. 'Absolutely not. I hate it when I sing off-pitch, so why would I do that on purpose? Look, it's all fun and games until someone takes that part [of the livestream] and says, 'Oh, you think she's a good singer?' I'm not going to fall for that!' said the idol.
She went on to remind viewers that the internet can be a cruel place, particularly when it comes to criticism and cyberbullying. However, she clarified that while she doesn't care what others think of her personally, she takes her singing very seriously. 'I know how the internet works. Sure, I can joke around and sing off-pitch, but someone out there will take it seriously. It's not that I care what people say — it's more that I don't want that for myself, because I take my singing seriously,' she said.
The moment quickly went viral on social media, with fans praising Lily for her quick thinking. Many noted that the idol is 'chronically online', suggesting she's well aware of what people post about fellow idols. Others commented that she was wise to decline the request, which some suspected was an attempt to set her up for criticism. Fans also hoped that other K-pop idols would stand up for themselves and call out viewers' problematic behaviour during livestreams.
It's hard to disagree with Lily that the internet can be a vicious place. It's always wise to proceed with caution before posting anything, as even the smallest moment can lead to serious consequences, whether or not you're at fault. Do you agree?

(Video) Mandopop Icon Jay Chou Mobbed By Fans While Sightseeing In Japan

It can be hard to travel comfortably when you're as popular as Jay Chou (周杰伦). The Mandopop icon has been travelling around Japan recently, but unfortunately, his trip hasn't been the most peaceful. Jay and his wife, Hannah Quinlivan (昆凌), recently visited Kyoto for work. While the couple were there, they took the opportunity to do some sightseeing. Joining the pair are Jay Chou's staff members and Japanese singer-actor Tomohisa Yamashita (山下 智久), who is a good friend of the Taiwanese singer. Together, the group went around the city, visiting popular tourist spots, including local temples and shrines. Given the popularity of the Mandopop and J-pop icons, a crowd will begin to form wherever the two go. Some fans even started following the stars and mobbing them as they walked down the streets of Kyoto. Unfortunately, the mobbing got so intense that Jay's makeup artist tripped and broke his leg. The 46-year-old singer went on Instagram to share the news and urged fans to maintain a safe distance in public to avoid another accident. According to reports, the makeup artist broke two bones and had to get a cast for his leg. Thankfully, it seemed he's recovering well despite the incident and is even cracking jokes about his fall. Jay also tried to make fun of the situation, jokingly asking fans if they had a photo of his makeup artist tripping. His odd request amused fans, who noted that it highlights their close friendship. Jay also didn't seem too pressed by the fans in Kyoto because he even stopped to take photos of some of them. In some videos, the star also appeared calm despite being surrounded by people. However, the mobbing did get a little crazy, and the crowds even gathered in front of a local restaurant where Jay and Yamashita Tomohisa were dining. Police officers were even called to the scene to maintain order. Many netizens have reacted to the situation, mostly praising Jay for remaining calm amidst the chaos. However, some urged the public not to crowd the star and allow him to enjoy his trip. What are your thoughts on this?
