Oasis Harvest Q1 revenue drops to RM2.72m amid streamlined F&B operations
KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia-listed food and beverage (F&B) player Oasis Harvest Corporation Bhd reported a net loss of RM0.97 million on the back of RM2.72 million in revenue for the first quarter (Q1) ended March 31, 2025 (FY25).
The decline in revenue for the quarter, from RM3.72 million in the same quarter last year, was primarily due to the streamlined operations in the F&B segment.
Oasis had strategically reduced its Uncle Don's restaurant outlets from six to three, in line with its ongoing efforts to optimize costs and enhance profitability.
Commenting on the quarterly results, executive director Ch'ng Eu Vern said the reported loss for Q1 FY25 was largely influenced by strategic operational restructuring aimed at ensuring its future growth remains sustainable.
'While the closure of some outlets impacted our immediate revenues, these decisions were necessary steps to maintain cost discipline and improve the overall operational efficiency of our restaurant business,' he said.
Ch'ng further explained the difference in comparative profitability, noting, 'It's important to highlight that the corresponding quarter last year included a RM2.1 million contingent consideration waiver, which positively impacted our results previously.
'Excluding this exceptional item, our current financial performance is aligned with expectations, reflecting ongoing adjustments designed to deliver longer-term financial stability and improved shareholder returns,' he said.
Despite the near-term challenges, Oasis successfully generated positive cash flow from operating activities amounting to RM0.86 million during the quarter, indicating healthy underlying operational efficiency and prudent management of working capital.
Moving forward, Oasis remains confident in its long-term strategic direction.
'We continue to invest in improving customer experiences, refining our menu offerings, and enhancing cost control measures across all outlets.
'These initiatives are critical for guaranteeing sustainable growth and delivering consistent value to our shareholders over the long run,' Ch'ng added.
The group maintains a cautiously optimistic outlook, bolstered by its strategic position in the Klang Valley, which continues to show resilience even amid global economic uncertainties.
Oasis remains committed to strengthening its F&B business, exploring complementary sectors within the travel, leisure, and hospitality ecosystem to diversify revenue streams and enhance shareholder value.
Ch'ng said Oasis remains confident in its long-term strategic direction.

YTL Power's AI compute could lift FY26 earnings by 4pct
KUALA LUMPUR: YTL Power International Bhd's artificial intelligence (AI) compute initiative is on track for a launch in the third quarter of 2025 (3Q25). Maybank Investment Bank Bhd (Maybank IB) expects this to drive a potential net profit increase of around four per cent in financial year 2026 (FY26) and six per cent in FY27. The firm continues to view YTL Power's risk-reward profile positively, especially given its undemanding valuations. This optimism is supported by the anticipated confirmation of Wessex's medium-term recovery as well as encouraging progress in its data centre and AI compute business. Maybank IB maintained a 'Buy' rating on YTL Power with an unchanged target price of RM4.20. Based on news reports, it said the group's AI compute business is on track to go live in 3Q25. "While substantially more capital expenditure intensive on a per megawatt (MW) basis, the gestation period is likely minimal, unlike data centre colocation, because graphic processing units, which are the biggest cost item, are typically only procured after securing off-takers. "Thus, upon commissioning, AI compute is likely to be immediately earnings accretive to YTL Power, in our view," it added. Assuming a 20MW deployment as planned, Maybank IB said YTL Power could incur about RM2.1 billion in capital expenditure, which could, in turn, generate around RM130 million in profit after tax annually. It said a 3Q25 launch for the initial 20MW would allow AI compute to contribute at least three quarters to YTL Power's FY26, potentially lifting its net profit forecasts by about four per cent and six per cent for FY26 and FY27, respectively.

Stonepeak is said in exclusive talks for buyout of US$2.1bil Yinson
Stonepeak Partners is in exclusive talks for a buyout of Yinson Holdings Bhd that may value the firm at as much as RM9bil (US$2.1bil), according to people with knowledge of the matter, in what could be one of the biggest deals in Malaysia this year. New York-based Stonepeak is teaming up with the Lim family, Yinson's founder and biggest shareholder, to take the Kuala-Lumpur-listed energy infrastructure company private, said the people, asking not to be identified because the discussions aren't public. The Lim family owned 26.6% of Yinson as of May 30. Considerations are ongoing and there is no certainty a deal will be reached, the people said. Yinson's shares jumped as much as 14% following the Bloomberg News report on the talks, the biggest intraday gain since June 2019. That cut the year-to-date loss from 20% as of Thursday's close and lifted Yinson's market value to about 6.5 billion ringgit. Representatives for the Lim family and Yinson declined to comment. Stonepeak didn't immediately respond to requests for comment. Founded in the 1980s as a transport and logistics firm, Yinson has since diversified into energy infrastructure, renewables and technology, its website shows. The company signed an agreement with a consortium of investors in January for a $1 billion funding round for a unit that makes vessels used by the offshore oil and gas industry, Bloomberg News reported at the time. - Bloomberg
