Alexa Bliss has revealed that her surprise return at the 2025 Women's Royal Rumble match was about as last-minute as it gets. The multi-time champion's comeback was not finalized until mere hours before the show went on the air.
In a recent appearance on The Bella Twins' podcast, Bliss detailed the chaotic 24 hours that led to her first match in over two years. She confirmed that WWE did not make the final decision to have her in the match until the overnight hours before the event.
The 11th Hour Alexa Bliss Call
Bliss told Nikki and Brie Bella that her return was hanging in the balance, even as fans were filing into the stadium in Indianapolis. She said the situation was uncertain until the early morning hours on the day of the show.
"I got the call at midnight the night before," Bliss said. "It wasn't fully decided until like 4 am. And then I get a call at 5. They're like, 'Alright, we need you on a plane by 10 am.'"
To keep her return a secret, Bliss and WWE took extra precautions. She flew into Cincinnati, Ohio, and then made the nearly two-hour drive to Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis to avoid being spotted by fans at the airport.

The secrecy was a success, as Bliss's return was a genuine surprise to nearly everyone. She stated that not even the other competitors in the match knew she was in the building until she was in the Gorilla position, waiting to make her entrance.

"No one knew I was there, not even the girls," she added. "No one knew I was there until I was in Gorilla."
Bliss entered the match at number 21, reportedly taking a spot that was held by Shotzi during rehearsals. She received one of the loudest crowd reactions of the night.
The WWE Comeback That Almost Didn't Happen
Bliss's return came after a two-year absence from WWE, during which she gave birth to her first child. In the weeks leading up to the Royal Rumble, reports had circulated that her comeback was stalled due to a contract dispute with WWE. The situation was reportedly resolved just in time for her to be added to the match, explaining the last-minute nature of her return.
Since her return, Bliss has re-established herself as a top star. This weekend at the Evolution premium live event, she will team with Charlotte Flair to compete in the Fatal 4-Way match for the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship.

Hulk Hogan was filming Netflix docuseries at the time of his death
Hulk Hogan was in the midst of filming a documentary project for Netflix at the time of his death, CNN has learned. The wrestling legend died earlier this week, at the age of 71. The previously unannounced project, made in partnership with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), is intended to chronicle the wrestling legend's storied life and career, on and off screen, and will still be released after Hogan's sudden passing, according to sources associated with the project. Filming remains ongoing. One source close to the untitled documentary said that the project has been in the works since 2024. Over 20 hours of unseen sit-down interviews with Hogan have already been completed, and an additional 30 hours of scenes have already been shot. The documentary was being produced with Hogan's full participation. 'People will see a side of him they haven't seen before,' the source told CNN. No release date has been set thus far, and Hogan's unexpected death will require filmmakers to re-tool portions of the documentary. Cameras will be on the ground at WWE Smackdown on Friday evening to capture a planned tribute to Hogan, according to the source. Born Terry Bollea and better known as Hulk Hogan, the professional wrestler was widely recognized as the biggest wrestling star of all time, helping catapult WWE into the massive success it is today. He died on Thursday from cardiac arrest, according to officials. Police and fire personnel in Clearwater, Florida, said in a news conference that there were no signs of suspicious activity or foul play in his death and that a standard investigation is ongoing. Hogan is credited with turning the sport of wrestling into an entertainment powerhouse. His larger-than-life presence in the 1980s and 1990s propelled him to become a household name and global superstar, creating the blueprint for other wrestlers – like Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and John Cena – to parlay their fame in the ring over to Hollywood and into movies, television shows and reality TV. The Netflix documentary project is being directed by Bryan Storkel and will be produced by Connor Schell's studio, Words + Pictures, in collaboration with WWE. The Hogan doc was first reported by Puck. Netflix declined to provide further details on the documentary at this time.

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Drivers' Championship leader Oscar Piastri secured pole position for the Belgium Grand Prix Sprint Race, setting a blistering time which rival Max Verstappen could not beat. Piastri cleared Verstappen by more than four-tenths and cleared his teammate Lando Norris by six-tenths. The Australian driver topped the times during Free Practice 1 as well, although he narrowly missed out in SQ2 after his lap was deleted for exceeding the limits. After the session, Piastri addressed his "scare" during the second part of qualifying. Max Verstappen of the Netherlands and Oracle Red Bull Racing congratulates Oscar Piastri of Australia and McLaren in Parc ferme during Sprint qualifying ahead of the F1 Grand Prix of Belgium at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps on July 25, 2025 in Spa, Belgium. More Photo by"It was a good lap. A little scare in SQ2 with the lap deletion but the car has been mega all day. I feel like I was able to put in a lot of good laps. Thanks to the team, the car has been great," he said. "This is a track I love. It's my favourite one of the year. Maybe that gave me an extra couple of tenths. "When the car is handling as well as it was today, it's a pleasure." Even though he is starting at the top, he will need to watch out for Verstappen, who appears rapid at one of his best tracks. The RB21 was set up well, and Piastri is well aware of the threat behind him for the sprint race start. "Red Bull are quick in a straight line. That will make life difficult and Spa is probably the worst track to have pole at," he added. "I think the pace in the car is really strong and I felt good today, so hopefully we can have a good day tomorrow." Piastri has the opportunity to grow his championship lead again on Saturday, given that his only true rival for the title is his teammate Lando Norris, who appears out of sorts with the car at Spa. He is eight points ahead of Norris and a whopping 69 points ahead of Verstappen. In a title race, a sprint race win could help Piastri gain a big edge heading into the upcoming summer break. F1 Belgian Grand Prix Under Threat of Rain
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. According to the weather forecast, the Belgium Grand Prix could be a wet race, potentially throwing chaos into an already hectic race weekend. Spa is known for being a track that is prone to rain, especially during the summer, which makes the current climate projections no surprise. On Saturday, there is a 24 percent chance of rain, according to The Weather Channel, with winds in the 5-10 mph range. Temperatures hover around 75 degrees Fahrenheit. No rain should delay either the sprint race or qualifying, but race day is a different story. Photo byFor Sunday, there is an 82 percent chance of rain, with temperatures ranging from around 65 degrees Fahrenheit. The winds are expected to be similar to those on Saturday. It is worth noting that Saturday night is expected to have rainfall, which means the track will be wet hours before any racing takes place. The teams and drivers will face tough decisions about whether to use intermediate or wet tires for the start of the race. McLaren driver Lando Norris is already preparing for "tough decisions" that he will need to make with the team. "It could be tricky now because of the rain, so I think you might have to make some more difficult decisions in terms of tyres and things like that," Norris said. "There's always a lot more points on Sunday, so I think most of the focus is always there, but if you're one position higher or lower in the Sprint race, it's not the end of the world. "You'll always take a bit less risk there, but Sunday is the main day." When asked about his record during wet conditions, Norris offered some optimism heading into the race weekend. "I'm British, and maybe that helps. I've had very good races this year in the wet, that's true," Norris added "But all the qualifyings have been in the dry when it's been that scenario, so it's tough. There isn't an easy answer. "I enjoy these conditions still. Maybe never the most fun because it can be quite scary at times, but Spa in the wet is normal, so I'm ready to go." Belgium Grand Prix Sprint Qualifying Results
