Roku is adding new ways to find things to watch.
The streaming platform began testing a new homepage in June, and now it's starting to roll out a new 'surf mode' feature that lets you scroll through a TikTok-like feed of show and movie clips from The Roku Channel. It will also introduce two new rows for the top 10 shows and movies on Roku, as well as add an 'In Theaters Now' row where you can explore movie trailers. Workers at Raven Software have finally secured their first union contract winning for its members guaranteed wage increases, protection against mandatory overtime known as crunch, and more. In A24's Highest 2 Lowest — a remake of Akira Kurosawa's High and Low — Denzel Washington plays a music mogul (rather than a show company exec) whose son (Aubrey Joseph) is being held for random. The movie's new trailer doesn't spoil much of the plot, but it does make it seem like Highest 2 is going to be a tense watch when it hits theaters on August 5th and Apple TV Plus on September 5th.
