Man arrested for shooting, trying to rob another driver during Riverside County traffic dispute
The incident happened a little after 9 p.m. on Highway 74, near the turn-off to Highway 79, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Office. Deputies said that the suspect and another man were involved in a fender-bender collision that turned into an argument.
During the confrontation, one of the drivers drew a handgun and shot the other driver. The victim was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, deputies said.
"During the altercation, the suspect also attempted to rob the victim," deputies said. He then fled the scene.
As investigators were gathering evidence at the scene of the shooting, they said the suspect returned and surrendered to deputies.
Kenneth Lamont Green, 27, of Hemet, was taken into custody and booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, making terrorist threats and attempted robbery after Monday's incident. He was released after posting $30,000 bond, jail records show.

Man arrested in series of sexual battery incidents in Point Richmond tunnel
A suspect was arrested in a series of sexual battery incidents in Richmond at the Point Richmond Tunnel, police said. The Richmond Police Department said in a press release on Tuesday that 56-year-old Richmond resident Ronald Bryant was arrested following an investigation that began in June. On June 8, police said a victim was approached by a person while inside the Point Richmond Tunnel at about 11:45 a.m., who made unwanted physical contact before running away. Three days later, a person reported a sexual battery inside the tunnel by a person who approached her while she was jogging at about 7:50 p.m., police said. On July 15, a person was walking in the tunnel at about 9:30 a.m. when she saw another person walking in the tunnel, and as she attempted to walk past him, he made unwanted physical contact with her, police said. The victim managed to get the attention of a passing motorist who stopped, prompting the suspect to run away, police said. In each of the incidents, the suspect was described as a Black male, 45-50 years old, bald or with short hair, and gold teeth grills. Police said based on the locations of the incidents and the suspect's description, it was believed the same person is responsible for the three sexual batteries. The investigation involved using undercover decoy operations, Flock license plate reader data, and collected forensic evidence from the scenes, police said. Detectives identified Bryant as the suspect, and on August 12, he was arrested in Richmond. The Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office filed charges on August 15 against Bryant, which include assault with intent to commit a felony, false imprisonment by violence, and sexual battery Bryant is being held at the West County Detention Facility in Richmond on $200,000.00 bail. His first court appearance is scheduled for August 28.

Rochester man receives stayed sentence for role in fatal road rage shooting outside a Chick-fil-A
A 28-year-old Rochester man has been sentenced for his role in a road rage shooting that killed a man outside a Chick-fil-A in February 2024. An Olmsted County judge handed down a 75-month prison sentence, which will be stayed for five years, to Jose Gutierrez Ojeda on Tuesday. His sentencing is a downward departure from guidelines. He must serve 77 more days of jail time, but it can be served on work release if the state determines he is eligible. Once released from prison, Gutierrez Ojeda will be on probation for five years. Gutierrez Ojeda pleaded guilty to one felony count of aiding an offender in February. He was driving a Nissan with his brother, Isaac Gutierrez, as a passenger on Feb. 3, 2024, according to the criminal complaint. When Gutierrez Ojeda tried to back into a parking spot, he blocked a driver in a Chevrolet Suburban. Gutierrez Ojeda drove a short distance and a man driving the Suburban followed before both drivers stopped and left their vehicles. Another man got out of the Suburban, and a fight ensued. During the altercation, Gutierrez got out of the Nissan and shot the man driving the Suburban in the head, charges said. He was hospitalized and later died. Authorities identified Gutierrez and Gutierrez Ojeda using witness statements and surveillance video. Gutierrez was sentenced to 60 months in prison for second-degree murder in October 2024. Additional charges against Gutierrez Ojeda, including one count each of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon, making terroristic threats with reckless disregard for risk and aiding an offender after the fact, were dropped as part of a plea deal. 1 man dead, another man injured during shooting in South Philadelphia, police say
One man died and another man was injured during a shooting in South Philadelphia Tuesday night, police said. Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said officers responded to several 911 calls of reported gunshots and a report of a shooting on the 600 block of Mountain Street after 11:30 p.m. Two men were found with gunshot wounds when officers arrived at the scene. A 37-year-old man was taken to Jefferson Hospital after being shot in his back and buttocks, police said. Small said the 37-year-old was lying not far from a 23-year-old man on the sidewalk, going in and out of consciousness. The 37-year-old man was pronounced dead at 12:12 a.m. A 23-year-old man was lying on the street with a gunshot wound to his shoulder, Small said. He was also taken to Jefferson Hospital and is listed as stable. More than 30 spent shell casings from a semi-automatic weapon or weapons were found at the crime scene on Mountain Street, Small said. He also mentioned that all the shell casings were on the sidewalk on Mountain Street. Three parked cars were hit by gunfire, Small said. A semi-automatic handgun was also found at the crime scene. Police are not sure who had the handgun. There is no description of the shooter or shooters. Police said at this time, there is no motive and no arrest have been made. The Homicide Unit will be conducting the shooting investigation. "Fortunately, we found numerous properties that do have exterior surveillance cameras," Small said. "Homicide detectives, crime scene personnel are knocking on the doors of these properties with the cameras, and hopefully these cameras recorded something that can help us with this double shooting homicide investigation."
