Fayez, US Chargé d'Affaires Talk Ties, Gaza Ceasefire Efforts
Ammon News - Senate President Faisal Fayez on Wednesday met with US Chargé d'Affaires Peter Shea for a discussion of Jordanian-US relations and ways to bolster political and economic cooperation within the strategic partnership between the two countries. The meeting, attended by Deputy Senate President Suhair Al-Ali, chair of the Jordan-US Parliamentary Friendship Committee, also addressed regional developments and the need to step up international efforts, particularly by the US administration, to promote regional security and stability. It also tackled efforts to push for a ceasefire in Gaza and ensure the entry of adequate humanitarian and medical aid into the Strip. The Senate head spoke about the efforts of His Majesty King Abdullah II to resolve regional conflicts, stressing that the two-state solution, based on international legitimacy resolutions guaranteeing the Palestinian people's rights, is the only avenue to restore peace and stability and end the spiral of violence in the region. He reiterated Jordan's firm rejection of the forced displacement of Palestinians in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, noting that His Majesty has repeatedly, clearly and firmly rejected any proposal to resolve the Palestinian issue at the expense of Jordan's constants and higher national interest.
