A British engineering company with links to Formula One has announced a new division 'dedicated to end-to-end full vehicle programmes'. Which, in HumanSpeak, means: some very clever people will build you an entire supercar.
Not for free, of course, but not for an exorbitant amount, either. It's the work of newly-formed Dash Bespoke – part of Dash – and isn't exorbitant because each supercar, or hypercar, or racing car, will be spun off the company's TR01 carbon fibre monocoque.

That's the thing we first told you about back in 2023. It's a two-seater configuration that's stiff, cheap, weighs just 48kg and can house anything from V8 powerhouses to a load of batteries.
Now, Dash Bespoke's new job is to build the rest of the car around this monocoque. It's done just that for a client, and we'll see DB's first ever full car at the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed. You might like
It's called 'SlipStream' (yes, bit on the nose but we'll take it), and while we don't know what it'll look like on top, these pics show what it'll look like underneath. So it's a mid-engined supercar wearing a V8 from New Zealand's Hartley (who did the V12 for the Nilu27), with bespoke carbon fibre subframes, light alloy suspension components, and Nitron dampers, to name just four things.
You of course, can spec anything you want within the confines of this stiff, lightweight TR01 chassis, making it easier to get your limited edition, two-seater super-hyper-toy off the ground. Dash boss Tim Robathan acknowledged the pitfalls associated with trying to engineer and manufacture something like this from scratch.

'For many brands and visionaries, these obstacles can halt progress and project viability,' he said. 'That is why we have established Dash Bespoke.
'Leveraging our proven TR01 monocoque and extensive in-house engineering expertise, we can manage projects from end to end,' he added.
We'll show you the finished car as soon as it's ready, so in the meantime, why not configure your ideal super-hyper-toy using the TR01 chassis, below. Starter for ten: nat-asp mid-mounted V6, rear-wheel-drive, six-speed manual, passive dampers, Alfa SZ-alike body.

Your move, Rimac: Koenigsegg has recaptured the 0-400-0kmh world record
Supercars New time has surpassed its own record 'and everyone else' Skip 6 photos in the image carousel and continue reading Koenigsegg has not only recaptured the world record for the fastest car to accelerate and then decelerate from 0-400-0kmh, it has also found the time to throw out a little shade. 'Beating four-wheel drive electric cars in a straight line is almost magical and shows that 'truths' can be rewritten,' said big boss Christian von Koenigsegg. Advertisement - Page continues below That 'four-wheel-drive' reference is directed squarely at Rimac and the astonishing Nevera, which only last month claimed the 0-400-0kmh record with a time of 25.79s. In July, that was 2.04s quicker than Koenigsegg managed last year in the Jesko Absolut. But it's August now, and Koenigsegg has fired straight back with a time of 25.21s in the Absolut. That's what you call a proper return volley. You might like And get this, test driver Markus Lundh laid down that time of 25.21s on a drying track following a rain shower, meaning he had to contend with what Koenigsegg calls 'sub-optimal' conditions and what calls 'bloody terrifying'. Still, complete it he did. He also reeled off a few more times while he was there: 0-400kmh in 16.77s, 400-0kmh in 8.44s, 0-250-0mph in 25.67s, 0-250mph in 17.18s, and 250-0mph in 8.49s. Advertisement - Page continues below The gains came as a result of 'improved software strategies' coded into the same Jesko Absolut that claimed the record back in 2024, and the result of that is customer Jesko Absoluts will soon be given these improved software strategies. Koenigsegg's calling them 'Absolut Overdrive'. Want a quick recap of what customers experience? A 5.1-litre flat-plane-crank V8 producing 1,578bhp and 1,106lb ft, a rev limit of 8,500rpm, and a 0-62mph time of 2.5s. Flat out... well, Koenigsegg reckons it's theoretically capable of 300mph+, and that's the record we're all waiting for. 'Our software engineers have been tweaking and adjusting the Light Speed Transmission and engine management system and have introduced a new torque control system which manages the grip of the Absolut like never before,' CvK added. Labour facing fresh 'cronyism' row after donor wins £5m contract for project 'overseen by former staff'
Labour is facing a fresh 'cronyism' row after it emerged a party donor won a multi-million pound contract for a project partly overseen by one of its former employees. Public Digital is helping to run a 'Test, Learn and Grow' initiative across public services as part of a Whitehall reform programme. The London-based consultancy is being paid £5million as the 'strategic delivery partner' for the Cabinet Office initiative. This will see 'innovation squads' of policy officials, tech specialists and other experts sent to communities across England to try and deliver better public services. According to The Times, Emily Middleton - a former partner at Public Digital - sits on the 'programme board' for Test, Learn and Grow. Public Digital donated the equivalent of £100,000 to Labour prior to last year's general election. The firm was also caught up in a row over the appointment of Ms Middleton to a senior Government role shortly after Labour won power. She was last summer named a director general at the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) earning between £125,000 and £208,100 a year. Ms Middleton had previously been on secondment to the office of Peter Kyle, who is now the Science, Innovation and Technology Secretary, from Public Digital. The costs of her employment by Mr Kyle's office, while in opposition, were paid for by the consultancy firm as a 'donation in kind'. The Tories have previously demanded an investigation into the links between Labour and Public Digital. Alex Burghart, the shadow Cabinet Office minister, said Ms Middleton's role with the Test, Learn and Grow project represented a 'a serious potential conflict of interest'. 'Labour ministers must urgently come clean on these murky decisions,' he added. Rose Whiffen, senior research officer at Transparency International UK, said: 'When Government departments award contracts to firms that previously employed their senior officials, they must demonstrate these contracts were won through genuine open competition - or provide clear justification if not. 'Simply acknowledging the existing relationship is not enough. The public deserves to see clear evidence of how potential conflicts of interest have been actively identified and mitigated.' Whitehall sources said Ms Middleton had not attended either of the two Test, Learn and Grow programme board meetings that have taken place to date. They also said the programme board is not involved in commercial decision making. A Government spokesman said the newspaper report 'has no basis'. 'Emily Middleton has had no role in decisions or deliberations relating to this contract or any other Public Digital has bid for,' they added. A Public Digital spokeswoman said: 'Our team's expertise, not political affiliations, has earned us the trust of Government bodies across multiple projects. 'The Government is right to recognise that bringing in outside expertise, including from the private sector, is sorely needed to drive reform and create better public services for everyone.'
