Jai Hind: Uttar Pradesh CM hails Indian Army after it strikes nine terror camps in PoJK to avenge victims of Pahalgam attack
NEW DELHI: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday hailed the Indian Army after it launched ' Operation Sindoor ', carrying out precision strikes on nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), days after the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 people.In a post on X, the UP CM wrote, "(Jai Hind! Jai Hind Ki Sena!)."Meanwhile, Pakistan violated the ceasefire agreement by firing artillery in Jammu and Kashmir's Bhimber Gali area, just hours after India carried out the precision strikes.The Indian Army is responding "appropriately in a calibrated manner", officials said.In a post on X, the additional directorate general of public information (ADG PI) wrote: "Pakistan again violates the Ceasefire Agreement by firing artillery in Bhimber Gali in the Poonch-Rajouri area. Indian Army is responding appropriately in a calibrated manner."The artillery fire came hours after India launched Operation Sindoor, a series of precision strikes targeting nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and PoJK."A little while ago, the Indian Armed Forces launched 'Operation Sindoor', hitting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir from where terrorist attacks against India have been planned and directed," said an official statement from the ministry of defence.Altogether, nine sites were targeted."Our actions have been focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature. No Pakistmilitary facilities have been targeted. India has demonstrated considerable restraint in the selection of targets and method of execution," the statement said.According to the ministry, these steps come in response to the "barbaric" Pahalgam terrorist attack, in which 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen were killed. The government reiterated its commitment to hold those responsible accountable.A detailed briefing on 'Operation Sindoor' will be held later today, the ministry added.Meanwhile, in a post on X, the Indian Army said: "Justice is served. Jai Hind!"In an earlier post, the Army had written: " Ready to strike, trained to win."

NIA raids nine places in Tamil Nadu in Ramlingam murder case
New Delhi [India], August 20 (ANI): The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday conducted searches at nine places in Tamil Nadu in connection with the Ramlingam murder case. The raids are still underway at eight places in Dindigul and one in Tenkashi district based on inputs against some suspects, officials said. The case was originally registered by the local police after members of the now-banned Popular Front of India (PFI) had hacked Ramalingam to death in Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu in February 2019 after he opposed their forcible religious conversion efforts. In May this year, the NIA chargesheeted one accused, namely Mohammed Ali Jinnah, for harbouring the proclaimed offenders in the Ramalingam murder case for six years. NIA, which took over the case in March 2019, had in August 2019 chargesheeted 18 accused, of whom six were absconding and had been declared Proclaimed Offenders (POs). The agency found during the investigation that Mohammed Ali Jinnah had harboured them all in a cottage. Jinnah was arrested in November 2024, while three of the absconding POs were arrested on different occasions between 2021 and January 2025. A search is on for the remaining three absconders, who are carrying a reward of Rs 5 lakh each for information leading to their arrest. (ANI)
