Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds defended by talent agency CEO Ari Emanuel who says he 'fired' Justin Baldoni
Blake Lively has a fierce defender in her ongoing legal battle with her "It Ends With Us" co-star and director Justin Baldoni.
Ari Emanuel, the CEO of the talent agency William Morris Endeavor (WME), voiced his opinion on the highly-publicized clash between the 37-year-old actress and Baldoni, 41, which has played out both in the media and in court.
"It is a f----- up, bad situation with what Bologna … Baldoni … whatever his name is … is doing," Emanuel told host Stephen Dubner during the "Freakonomics Radio Live" show taping Thursday, per the Hollywood Reporter.
Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds 48, are both clients of WME, one of Hollywood's top agencies.
After Dubner noted that Baldoni was also previously represented by WME, Emanuel said, "Until I fired him."
Variety reported on Dec. 21 that WME had dropped Baldoni as a client due to the allegations that Lively made against him in a lawsuit she filed on Dec. 20.
Lively detailed allegations of sexual harassment, retaliation, intentional affliction of emotional distress, negligence and more against Baldoni, his production company Wayfarer Studios and film producer Jamey Heath in a complaint first filed with the California Civil Rights department and in federal court.
"They are really incredible people."
A day after Lively's filing, the New York Times published an article about the actress's lawsuit and the alleged smear campaign Baldoni attempted to run against his co-star.
On Dec. 31, Baldoni filed a $250 million libel lawsuit against The New York Times over its story about Lively's lawsuit and allegations. Weeks later, Baldoni then named Lively and Reynolds in a separate $400 million defamation lawsuit in which he accused the Hollywood power couple of attempting to hijack "It Ends With Us" and create their own narrative.
Both sides have denied the allegations against them.
During the event on Thursday, Emanuel praised Lively and Reynolds, noting the longtime relationship that he shared with them.
"It's not really fair," he said, per THR. "I've known Ryan and Blake for over a decade. They're really incredible people. In Hollywood, they have been incredibly successful."
"People work with them, they've never had any bad mojo out there or treated people badly," Emanuel continued. "They are charitable — we help them with their foundation — they've given tons of money away."
He added, "If what is alleged in her lawsuit that what happened on social media is true, just because she complained to the studio that things were unhealthy on the set, and that he was director and this man (Heath) was the producer, and they did to her what is being alleged—they're really bad people."
Later in the show, Emanuel once again asserted his full-fledged support for Lively and Reynolds.
"I am a ride or die," he said. "And they are good people."
Baldoni's lawyer Bryan Freedman addressed Emanuel's comments in a statement to THR on Friday.
"Mr. Ari Emanuel is notably one of the best agents, and clearly the most loyal, in Hollywood," Freeman said. "As I understand it, Justin hasn't been called 'Bologna' since the fifth grade. Perhaps Ari's perspective would be different if they had ever met in the half decade they were clients of his agency."
Fox News Digital has reached out to Freedman and Heath for comment.
Earlier on Thursday, Lively and Baldoni refused mediation, paving the way for the case to potentially head to trial.
Legal teams for both Lively and Baldoni told Judge Lewis Liman that "settlement discussions would be premature," according to a joint letter filed in court and obtained by Fox News Digital. The letter also noted that "the parties agree that mediation and the Discovery Protocols… are inappropriate for this case."
The federal judge agreed with the "It Ends With Us" stars and granted the order.
Lively and husband Ryan Reynolds have until Feb. 18 to file an amended version of their complaint against Baldoni. The couple is also planning to file a motion to dismiss Baldoni's $400 million lawsuit.
The deadline for Lively's legal team to file the dismissal motion is March 20.

"Given that her involvement was licensing a song for the film, which 19 other artists also did, this document subpoena is designed to use Taylor Swift's name to draw public interest by creating tabloid clickbait instead of focusing on the facts of the case." Still, the drama continued when Justin's lawyers wrote a letter to a judge claiming that Blake had allegedly asked Taylor to delete their text messages and "that if Ms. Swift refused to do so, private text messages of a personal nature in Ms. Lively's possession would be released." However, a source claimed that Blake and Taylor's friendship was still left "fractured" in the wake of it. "Their friendship has halted," a source purportedly close to Taylor told People last month. "Taylor wants no part in this drama," the source added, before clarifying it didn't mean they were "not no longer friends" — they were just "taking some space." Neither Taylor nor Blake addressed the report at the time, but now, almost a month on, a source has offered an update, telling People their friendship still "isn't the same." "[They] aren't as close and haven't been spending as much time together as they did in the past," the source said. However, they claimed Taylor and Blake are trying to get back "on good terms." Bill Maher has waded in on the rift that has emerged between President Donald Trump and Elon Musk, comparing it to Blake Lively's headline-grabbing, It Ends With Us legal drama. Musk and Trump's close relationship imploded this week as the tech mogul, after resigning from his White House role, publicly denounced the president's flagship spending bill and accused him of ties to Jeffrey Epstein. The fallout was always going to be top of the order for Real Time with Bill Maher. 'When you think about it, the richest man in the world and the most powerful man in the world, it's like Godzilla versus King Kong, if Godzilla was on ketamine and King Kong had a comb over,' the comedian said on Friday's episode. He then joked that the two were 'so close, it was like Brangelina or Bennifer,' referencing Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie and Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez's respective former relationships. It was reported on Tuesday that Lewis Liman, the judge who is overseeing the lawsuit, has decided that Lively's claims for emotional distress would be thrown out. The decision is thought to be a response to attempts by Baldoni's legal team to obtain Lively's medical records, including therapy notes and other health details, as part of the discovery process. Esra Hudson and Mike Gottlieb, two of Lively's lawyers, called the filing from Baldoni's team 'a press stunt'. Justin Baldoni's $400 million lawsuit in jeopardy after reporter admits texting mistake
Justin Baldoni's $400 million defamation lawsuit against Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds and publicist Leslie Sloane may be in jeopardy because of a journalist's text message using the wrong choice of words. Baldoni's filing largely centered on a text sent by a reporter claiming that Sloane said Lively was 'sexually assaulted' by Baldoni. His legal team cited the 'unsubstantiated accusation' as evidence that Sloane pushed a 'false narrative' to 'destroy Baldoni and his reputation.' The journalist who sent the text in question, identified as Daily Mail reporter James Vituscka, has since come forward and clarified the message, admitting that he used those words in error. 'In those text messages, my use of the phrase 'sexually assaulted' was a mistake. I meant to say, 'sexually harassed.' I regret this error,' Vituscka says, according to a signed declaration shared with the Daily News on Friday by law firm Boies Schiller Flexner, which is representing Sloane. 'Ms. Sloane never told me that Ms. Lively was sexually harassed or sexually assaulted by Justin Baldoni or anyone else,' Vituscka says. 'I regret that private text messages were made public.' What's more, Vituscka's text — which he claims he did not authorize to be used in Baldoni's filing — was 'not in reference to any conversation that I had with Leslie Sloane' but to the allegations made in the complaint Lively filed against Baldoni in mid-December, he says. In the initial complaint filed with the California Civil Rights Department, the 'Gossip Girl' star, 37, accused her 41-year-old 'It Ends With Us' director of sexual harassment on the film's set and a retaliatory smear campaign. She formally sued Baldoni at the end of the year. Two weeks later, Baldoni filed his countersuit, accusing Lively, Reynolds and Sloane of defamation and civil extortion. In part using that message from Vituscka, his lawyers claimed Baldoni was targeted in a 'character assassination plot' orchestrated by Sloane at 'Lively's direction.' Sloane has maintained that said she never used the phrase 'sexually assaulted,' and has sought to be dismissed from the case. 'After being wrongfully dragged into this litigation, Leslie Sloane has repeatedly stated that she never used the phrase 'sexually assaulted' which formed the basis of Baldoni's meritless defamation claim against her and today she is fully vindicated by the declaration of James Vituscka that admits she never said those words,' attorney Sigrid McCawley said in a statement sent to The New York Daily News. 'The Wayfarer Parties never even bothered to attempt to confirm whether the outrageous allegations they were launching at Ms. Sloane were true, and they were not.' Legal teams for Lively and Baldoni did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
