FIFA launch probe into Rudiger racism allegation
"Following an assessment of the match reports, the FIFA Disciplinary Committee has opened proceedings against CF Pachuca player Gustavo Cabral in relation to the incident involving him and Real Madrid's Antonio Rudiger during the FIFA Club World Cup game played in Charlotte on 22 June," FIFA said on Tuesday.
Rudiger was visibly angered following an exchange of words with Argentine Cabral and spoke to Brazilian referee Ramon Abatti Abel.
Cabral denied he had racially abused the German centre-back.
Asked about the incident in the post-match press conference, Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso said: "In football there is no tolerance for this, and if it happened, then measures should be taken. This is what Antonio has told us and we believe him. It's being investigated now".
Cabral, 39, spoke after the game and said his words had been misinterpreted by Rudiger.
The Argentine said he had called the defender a "coward", with the Spanish phrase he used similar to another which is linked to racist abuse.
"The referee made the racism sign but I was telling him the same thing the whole time -- (coward)," said Cabral.

Germany charges man suspected of planning attack on Israeli embassy
German prosecutors announced terrorism charges on Wednesday against a man who they say may have planned to attack the Israeli Embassy in Berlin and intended to join the so-called Islamic State (IS) group in Pakistan. The suspect, a Russian national identified only as Akhmad E in line with German privacy rules, was arrested on 20 February at the capital's airport as he prepared to board a flight. He has now been indicted on charges of supporting a foreign terrorist organisation, attempted membership of such a group and preparing a serious act of violence. Federal prosecutors said in a statement that the suspect initially planned to carry out an attack in Germany, possibly on the Israeli embassy. He allegedly found instructions for making explosives on the internet, but was unable to pursue the plan because he couldn't get the necessary components. At the same time, the suspect was allegedly translating propaganda into Russian and Chechen for the jihadist group. Prosecutors said he intended to join the group in Pakistan to receive military training and that he financed the trip by taking out two contracts for expensive smartphones which he then sold. He allegedly sent a video declaring loyalty to the group to a suspected IS member outside Germany shortly before his departure. The indictment was filed earlier this month to a court in Berlin, which will now have to decide whether to send the case to trial.

Suspect in car attack on German Christmas market charged with murder
The suspect in a fatal car-ramming attack on a Christmas market in the German city of Magdeburg has been charged with murder, attempted murder and bodily harm, prosecutors said on Tuesday. Five women and a nine-year-old boy were killed while more than 300 were injured in the attack on 20 December last year. Authorities have identified the suspect as a 50-year-old Saudi national who arrived in Germany in 2006 and had received permanent residency. His name has not officially been released, in keeping with the country's privacy rules. Several German media outlets have referred to him as Taleb A. In an indictment filed to the state court in Magdeburg, prosecutors said the suspect is charged with six counts of murder, 338 counts of attempted murder and 309 counts of bodily harm. The man is also accused of dangerous interference with road traffic. In a statement announcing the charges, prosecutors said he acted "with the intention of killing an unspecified but as large as possible number of people in the path of his vehicle". Murder charges carry a maximum sentence of life in prison. The Magdeburg court will decide whether to send the case to trial. The suspect had spent several weeks planning the attack, without accomplices or anyone else knowing about his plans, according to prosecutors. The attack was carried out with a rented BMW X3, which reached speeds of up to 48 km/h during the rampage. It lasted just over one minute, prosecutors said. Officials have said the suspect does not match the usual profile of perpetrators of extremist attacks. The man had described himself as a former Muslim faithful who was highly critical of Islam and expressed support for the far right on social media. The suspect had previously come to authorities' attention for threatening behaviour but was not known to have committed any violence. He had worked as a doctor in a forensic psychiatry unit for criminals in Bernburg, a town 40 kilometres south of Magdeburg in the eastern state of Saxony-Anhalt.
