Police make arrest in deadly shooting outside Ajax GO Station

Police have made an arrest in connection with a deadly shooting outside Ajax GO Station last weekend.
The victim, 28-year-old Isaiah Little, was found with multiple gunshot wounds outside the station at around 11:30 p.m. on June 22.
Police, however, have said that the shooting likely happened sometime between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m.
In a news release, Durham police confirmed that a suspect was taken into custody on Thursday in connection with the homicide.
Clifford Matthew Barras, 33, of Ajax, has been charged with one count of second-degree murder.
Police continue to investigate and are urging anyone with information to come forward.

Police executed a search warrant at a Vaughan home on June 26 and arrested the accused. Toronto police said two officers tried to stop a vehicle without headlights in the area of Islington Avenue and Dixon Road just after 11 p.m. But the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed, police said. Shortly after, it lost control and crashed into a tree. Police said four people were seen getting out of the vehicle and running away on foot. When officers arrived, they allegedly found an AK-47 (micro) assault rifle loaded with 30 rounds of ammunition inside the vehicle. Police said an AR-style assault rifle with 31 rounds of ammunition was discovered on the ground beside the vehicle. Officers later found a handgun concealed in the vehicle. After searching the area, police found and arrested three suspects. The fourth remains at large. Police said one suspect was allegedly carrying a loaded handgun with 30 rounds of ammunition at the time of the arrest. 'All three youths were on bail at the time of their arrests for previous firearm-related charges,' police said. The suspects, a 17-year-old, a 16-year-old and a 15-year-old, cannot be named under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. Both the 17-year-old and 16-year-old are each facing 27 charges, including unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a prohibited device and failure to comply with a release order. The youngest is facing 19 charges, including possession of a firearm, knowing its possession is unauthorized, possession of property or thing obtained by crime within Canada exceeding $5,000. 'Our work is to ensure that they're being treated fairly, and that's the advocacy that consular officials from Global Affairs Canada do every day, not only in the United States, but around the world,' said Anand. ICE operations have been under increased public scrutiny since Stephen Miller, White House deputy chief of staff, said ICE officers would target at least 3,000 arrests a day, up from about 650 a day during the first five months of Trump's second term. ICE operations have sparked protests across the U.S., leading to arrests and curfews. During her interview with CTV News, Anand responded to questions about the Canadian citizen who died in ICE custody on June 23. She said consular officials had been in contact with Johnny Noviello, 49, since he was detained by ICE on May 15. She also said she was bound by privacy considerations and could not share additional details. On Thursday, the day Canadian officials were made aware of Noviello's death, Anand said on social media that Ottawa was urgently seeking more information from U.S. officials. The exact cause of his death remains under investigation, ICE wrote on Thursday. Noviello entered the U.S. with a visa on Jan. 2, 1988. He became a permanent resident three years later. In October 2023, he was convicted in eastern Florida for racketeering and drug trafficking and sentenced to 12 months in prison.
