Olympic swimmer Cate Campbell announces surprise engagement to partner Adam Kerr and shows off her massive diamond ring

Daily Mail20-07-2025
Cate Campbell has announced her engagement.
The Olympic swimmer and her long-term partner Adam Kerr shared the happy news in an Instagram post on Sunday.
The 33-year-old shared a series of images of the romantic sunrise proposal, while also showing off her classic diamond sparkler.
'A complete and wonderful surprise,' Cate wrote in her caption alongside the carousel of photographs.
'Last Saturday while watching the sun rise at our new local beach, Adam turned and said: "Cate, I have a question for you." I thought maybe he was going to ask what kind of plants to put in our gardens, what kind of dog we should get, or what we should make for dinner.

'Instead, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Of course, I said "yes"…(and cried a lot).
'Simply the perfect way to start the next chapter of our lives.'
Less than a year ago, Cate insisted there was no engagement on the horizon.
The athlete told radio host Ben Fordham on 2GB's Ben Fordham Live! that her sister's Bronte Campbell's betrothal to Benfield Lainchbury at the time had made it even less likely that Adam would pop the question.
'No definitely not, my partner Adam is like, "The pressure is off," because he can't steal Bronte and Benfield's thunder for a little bit,' she said.
Cate had some complaints about how her sister's engagement occurred.
'He didn't get down on one knee, which I was a little bit mad about, but I'm glad he popped the question,' she explained.
Cate and Adam have been together, on and off, for six years, and the swimmer says that her partner had no idea of her fame when they met.
'He didn't know who I was and he maintains he never Googled me – he wasn't star struck!' she told the Sydney Morning Herald back in 2023.
The two split briefly when Cate moved to Sydney to pursue her swimming career, with Cate calling the breakup her 'biggest heartbreak.'
When she returned to Brisbane, the couple reconciled.
'We reconnected when I moved back to Brisbane and have been together ever since. He knows what sport means to me,' she said.
Cate explained that Adam is an immense support to her when she is feeling down or exhausted.
'When you're feeling tired, depleted or defeated, it's okay to lean on someone and ask for them to help replenish your reserves,' she told Nine.
'Sometimes I have to lean on him and then sometimes he has to lean on me. It's really lovely to be that reserve of strength for someone else.'
Cate told the Sydney Morning Herald last year that she isn't planning on starting a family any time soon.
'I need to figure who I am outside of the pool before I go into something as time- and identity-consuming as parenthood,' she said.

Melbourne 's live music community is mourning the sudden death of local rock legend Andrew Hosking, who died aged 64 on Thursday after a long battle with cancer. Known affectionately as Hocka, Hosking was the frontman of iconic Melbourne pub rock band Coupe Deville, who performed across Australia for over 35 years. His death was confirmed on social media by his close friend and former bandmate, comedian Marty Fields. 'It's with great sadness that I report the passing of my dear old mate Andrew Hosking,' Marty began. 'We played together in his band Coupe Deville 35 years ago. Terrible singer, bad musician. With powerful vocals and magnetic charisma, Hosking gave his all at every venue where he performed. From the first note to the final encore, Hosking delivered more than a performance—he created a shared experience. Fans recall how he would bring the crowd into his performances, making everyone feel appreciated. Friends say he was always ready with a laugh, happy to lend an ear and deeply committed to the people around him. Heartbroken friends and fans took to social media to pay tribute to Hosking. 'RIP mate. You were one of the greats of the Melbourne music scene and entertained so many. Hope they have a coupe de'ville for you to cruise the heavens,' one wrote. 'Saddened by the news of the passing of a Melbourne music icon, and good friend to all,' a third chipped in. Whether rehearsing a new set, catching up with mates, or supporting other artists behind the scenes, Hosking always gave his all to everything. He leaves behind not only a catalogue of electrifying performances, but also a legacy of fellowship, joy and countless stories.

Lizzo showcased the results of her stunning weight loss on Instagram on Friday to share an announcement about her loungewear range Yitty. The 37-year-old rapper and singer — who recently referenced Sydney Sweeney's American Eagle campaign — appeared in a brief reel as she modeled mint-green biker shorts and a white zip-up track jacket. She was cheerful and bubbly as she told her nearly 12 million followers to 'get into this Yitty activewear!' 'If you want Yitty activewear, you can now get it at Walmart!' she added. She then declared, 'Yitty Active is everywhere!' The About Damn Time hitmaker sported a waist-length platinum-blond wig in the clip, and she looked beautiful in a full face of glamorous makeup. Lizzo was also wearing her unmissable diamond-encrusted Yitty chain and pendant. She recorded the short advert outside of a sprawling mansion, collecting thousands of likes. One day earlier the musician was also active on the social media app as she wore a two-piece gray set from her shapewear brand while snapping a mirror selfie in a luxe bathroom. Earlier this week, the singer–songwriter name-dropped actress Sydney Sweeney, 27, in the lyrics of an unreleased rap song. She teased the track in a provocative video snippet in which she wore a denim jacket and matching shorts. It came on the heels of the Euphoria star's controversial American Eagle ad, which featured the slogan 'Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans.' The Block star shocks followers as she strips naked in very racy clip

A former Block star left her followers wide-eyed after she uploaded a very raunchy clip to her social media this week. Kylie Baker, 37, shared the footage to Instagram on Friday night as she flaunted her naked figure in a barely-there fishnet outfit. The risqué ensemble left little to the imagination, with her modesty only covered by thin, criss-crossing threads connected by a series of perfectly round cut-outs. The daring design flashed plenty of skin as it clung to her frame, creating a peek-a-boo effect which shocked followers. 'Take me to hell. I'm going to start again. #takemetohell #poison #L1e #LuckyLuke #fnq #weekend,' Kylie captioned the clip. It comes after Kylie all but confirmed she was back together with her husband Brad Baker. Kylie, who walked out on The Block and her partner in 2024 after his flirting scandal was exposed on-air, posted a steamy picture to Instagram featuring a telling detail. 'I've noticed you around #night #naughty #mummy #uptonogood,' she captioned the sultry snap, which showed her wearing a floral-motif lace top. However, it was the person in the background, whose face was shielded by Kylie's hand, who prompted fans to speculate Brad was back in her life. 'Get out of the way. Show us the good looking roosters behind ya @_bradleybaker_ ,' one person wrote in the comments section. In the final weeks of The Block, fans watched on as Kylie and Brad's seven-year marriage imploded on-air in what came to be known as the 'flirtgate scandal '. During the show, the Cairns-based tradesman told fellow Blockhead Mimi Belperio he would 'follow' her adult subscription account if she had one. On overhearing the remark, Kylie stormed off to her room, and chaos ensued backstage. Kylie quit production and flew home to Cairns to be with her four kids, who she shares with Brad, leaving a giant question mark on the show's finale. At the time, Brad said he believed his marriage was 'done' and that he had 'single-handedly destroyed my family' with his actions after Kylie suddenly abandoned the series. However, the couple later returned for the auction of their Block build and rekindled their relationship, before sparking rumours of a separation yet again. Since the show's conclusion, fans have been speculating as to whether the couple have got back together or not, with various posts and comments alluding to the possibility they might have. Mimi, whose husband Kristian was also a contestant on the show, later revealed she thought the incident was blown out of proportion, according to Pedestrian TV.
