Chelsea making Alejandro Garnacho wait with transfer priority on another forward

Metro3 days ago
Alejandro Garnacho wants to leave Manchester United for Chelsea but the Blues are in no rush to get a deal done for the winger.
The 21-year-old appears to have no future with the Red Devils after being placed on the transfer list this summer alongside the likes of Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia.
The Argentina international was used regularly by manager Ruben Amorim last season, but publicly questioned the boss after starting the Europa League final on the bench.
Speaking after Manchester United's 1-0 defeat to Spurs in Bilbao, Garnacho said: 'Up until the final I played every round helping the team, and today I play 20 minutes, I don't know.
'The final will influence [my decision] but the whole season, the situation of the club. I'm going to try to enjoy the summer and see what happens afterwards.'

Garnacho's brother, Robert, added fuel to the fire by posting on Instagram: 'Working as no-one else, helping every round, coming from two goals in the last two finals, just to be on the pitch for 19 mins and get thrown under the bus.'
After being left out of the pre-season trip to America, Garnacho's future appears certain to be away from Old Trafford, but a deal has not been quick in materialising.
The Spain-born star is reportedly keen to remain in the Premier League, so interest from the likes of Napoli in Serie A has gone nowhere.
His options in the English top flight are limited, with Chelsea seemingly the only serious contenders to sign the talented young star.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Garnacho has his heart set on a move to Stamford Bridge, having already held talks with the west London side.
The winger appears to have confirmed this by liking a social media post from Romano linking him with a Chelsea move.
However, there have been no negotiations between Chelsea and Manchester United, with the Blues busy elsewhere in the transfer market at this stage.
RB Leipzig's Xavi Simons if top of the to-do list right now, with talks at an advanced stage for the Dutchman.
The £60m-rated 22-year-old was not involved in training on Friday and was not included in the Leipzig squad for a friendly against Atalanta on Saturday.
A move to Stamford Bridge now seems very likely, but an agreement is yet to be struck between the Premier League and Bundesliga clubs. More Trending
Chelsea are pursuing moves for both Simons and Garnacho, but the Argentina international will have to wait until a deal for the Netherlands star is done.
Manchester United are also being made to wait as they want to offload their unwanted players as soon as possible and reinvest in their own squad.
The Red Devils want around £50m for Garnacho, although there remains the possibility of a swap deal being done, with Chelsea reportedly ready to offer the likes of Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku in exchange.
However a deal is done, Romano reports it is 'not expected to be imminent' with the start of the new Premier League season now less than two weeks away.

Welcome to Chelsea, finally! Brazilian wonderkid Estevao arrives ONE YEAR on from signing for the west London side - and after scoring against the Blues at the Club World Cup

Chelsea announced the long-awaited transfer of Brazilian wonderkid Estevao Willian - one year on from signing the former Palmeiras starlet. The Blues have enjoyed another prolific summer in the transfer market, with attacking signings Joao Pedro and Liam Delap showing immediate promise as part of the squad's triumphant Club World Cup run. Enzo Maresca 's side have since added players including Borussia Dortmund 's Jamie Gittens and talented Ajax defender Jorrel Hato to their ranks ahead of the start of the Premier League season. But as the west London side continue to manage incomings and outgoings in the window, Estevao's arrival at Cobham stands out, with Chelsea having snapped up the winger for £28million in June 2024. Estevao's deal such that he continued the 2024-25 season with his Brazilian side, even meeting his new club in last month's Club World Cup - and scoring against them in the 2-1 defeat in the quarter finals - waiting to join Chelsea until he turned 18. But Blues fans finally had the chance to see their new player in club colours on Tuesday afternoon, with the team finally announcing their latest signing in a post which posed the teenager as a life-size figurine. As fans flocked to social media to share their delight in the news, Estevao himself was brimming with excitement in a brief interview shared with the club's website. 'I am very happy, it feels very rewarding to represent Chelsea, one of the biggest clubs in the world,' Estevao said. 'I am very happy and I hope to help the team in the best way possible. 'I had almost a year and a half to wait until I arrived here. But it has been a year and a half that I have worked hard and have done my best to get here in the best shape possible. 'I am very, very excited. It is a new experience in my life, a new stage. I am looking forward to it and hope that it will go as well as possible.' Estevao previously spoke to some of his Chelsea team-mates in the wake of Palmeiras' defeat, through his compatriot-turned-translator, fellow new signing Dario Essugo. Essugo helped decipher Cole Palmer's request that Estevao spend some time with team-mates to-be after their victory, but the 18-year-old explained later that he had politely declined. 'I had to ask Essugo what Cole had said to me,' said Estevao. 'He laughed a bit before translating, telling me "Cole said he's excited for you and want you to come with us after the game".' 'I wanted to stay some more time with my team pals,' he added. 'I came here with them. And I should go back to Brazil with them. My heart is broken because only we know how hard we worked. 'But I leave with pride. And I am happy to have a giant club as Chelsea opening its doors to me. 'I just wanted to show my new fans in England who I am. That it is all. I hope to learn. I am sure I come to London to evolve, and to make history there too.' Palmer made a point of embracing Estevao and swapping shirts with him after the final whistle, despite the language barrier. 'I told Estevao we are excited for you to join but he didn't understand a single word I said,' Palmer said. Maresca was certainly impressed by his new recruit's performance, noting after the final whistle that his 'huge talent' was undeniable. 'The only thing now is when you come from South America or another part of the world to Europe, you need to adapt,' Maresca added. 'We are going to help him to adapt, and first of all to enjoy football.' Chelsea supporters that Estevao lives up to his seismic hype, with the club having fought off advances from Barcelona, Manchester City, and Paris Saint-Germain in the race to land his signature. Nicknamed 'Messinho' early on in his career, Estevao has most frequently earned comparisons to Neymar Jnr, who has described him as a 'genius'. Last year, Estevao became the youngest player in history to be named ESPN Brazil's Player of the Year, and he has since joined up with the national team, making five appearances for the Selecao.

RB Leipzig and Liverpool begin transfer talks over 'fearless' £50m English star

RB Leipzig have entered transfer talks with Liverpool over a deal to sign their 'fearless' £50m English star Harvey Elliott, according to reports. The German club are interested in recruiting Elliott as a replacement for Xavi Simons, who is expected to join Chelsea in the summer window. Liverpool want £50m to sell the 22-year-old, although they'd be open to offers of £40m if a buy-back clause was inserted into the deal. The Athletic report that RB Leipzig have made contact with Liverpool and discussions – which are currently ongoing – are at an early stage. Elliott only started two Premier League matches for Liverpool in the 2024-25 campaign in what was Arne Slot's debut season as head coach. But former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was a huge fan of Elliott, previously labelling him as 'fearless' and a 'great footballer'. Elliott, who can play as an attacking midfielder, central midfielder or right winger, has registered 15 goals and 20 assists in 147 games for the Reds. He moved to Anfield from Fulham six years ago, with Liverpool paying the west London club an initial £1.5m plus £2.8m in contingent amounts. Elliott has also attracted interest from Premier League club West Ham ahead of the new season. Speaking in July, Elliott admitted that he was open to leaving Liverpool over a lack of playing time. 'Look, if I had it my way, I'd be here for the rest of my career, it's as simple as that, I love everything about the club,' Elliott told The Anfield Wrap. 'But at the same time I kind of need to be selfish with myself and see what's best for me. 'I have big ambitions. I want to go to the World Cup. I want to keep being successful as a player. More Trending 'I think it's still something I need to review. I need to have a talk with everyone, really and review the situation because we've had many new players come in, so whether it blocks the path for me I'm not sure, it's something I need to decide and have a look at. 'My main focus is here now. At the moment I'm here for the season, as far as I'm aware, unless if anything changes, we have a busy pre-season, it's non-stop, I need to make sure I'm focus on that and just be ready for everything.' Elliott was one of England's standout performers at the UEFA European Under-21 Championship over the summer. He was crowned UEFA's official Player of the Tournament after scoring five goals in the competition from midfield. Those charges were ultimately dropped in February 2023 and paved the way for him to return to football the following September with a loan move to Getafe. Greenwood inked a permanent deal with Ligue 1 side Marseille last July and has shone at the Stade Velodrome. And he could soon be back on the international stage with Jamaica having recently acquired a passport for the Caribbean country. All that remains now for Greenwood to play for the 'Reggae Boyz' is for him to change his allegiance from the FA to the Jamaican Football Association. If his switch is cleared, he could very well feature in Jamaica's upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Bermuda and Trinidad and Tobago. New Jamaica boss Steve McLaren recently revealed he'd been in contact with Greenwood and his family about switching allegiances. The former England manager said: "We are in contact all the time, with him (Greenwood) and his family. 3 Mason Greenwood was one of Marseille's star performers last season Credit: AFP "I am very confident he only wants to play for Jamaica.
