10-9 Silva.
A lot of fighters try to avoid fighting with emotion. Silva uses it to his advantage.

Kamaru Usman dismisses short-notice talk in Khamzat Chimaev loss, gives UFC champ credit

Kamaru Usman was all class in addressing the criticism surrounding Khamzat Chimaev's close win over him. Chimaev (15-0 MMA, 9-0 UFC) dominated and outgrappled Dricus Du Plessis (23-3 MMA, 9-1 UFC) to claim the middleweight title in Saturday's UFC 319 headliner at United Center in Chicago. Usman was one of the few fighters to pick Chimaev to win. So how good is Usman? That's a thought that emerged through many people's minds after the former welterweight champion pushed Chimaev to the brink on just days' notice in a majority decision loss at middleweight in October 2023. "Let's address this, the whole, 'Oh you took the fight on this days' notice.' Listen, at the end of the day, I know who I am as a fighter, and the way I approach this game, and so does Khamzat Chimaev," Usman said on his "Pound 4 Pound" podcast with Henry Cejudo. "At the end of the day, it was still a loss on my side and it was a win for Khamzat Chimaev. 'Oh, you should feel this way.' No, it was an 'L.' I don't feel any sort or type of way. "It was an 'L,' and there's a mutual respect there because each and every fight that we go into as fighters, you don't know what we're dealing with. You don't know what he was dealing with, you don't know what I was dealing with. It looked the way it did. Styles make fights. I'm a much different style than these guys are, and I say it all the time: You don't know until you get in there. Khamzat did his best that he could to get the win and he got that win. So let's give him that credit and let's move on." After losing to Chimaev, Usman (21-4 MMA, 16-3 UFC) returned from an 20-month layoff to snap the winning streak of Joaquin Buckley in the UFC on ESPN 69 headliner in June.

Drakkar Klose dedicates UFC 319 win to brother, who was an Edson Barboza fan

CHICAGO – Drakkar Klose met with MMA Junkie and other media members Saturday after his win over Edson Barboza at UFC 319. Klose (16-3-1 MMA, 10-3 UFC) picked up arguably the biggest win of his career when he outworked feared striker Barboza (24-13 MMA, 18-13 UFC) for a unanimous decision on the preliminary card at United Center. It was an emotional return to the win column for Klose, who dedicated the fight to his brother, who was murdered in 2024. "This win was for my big brother," Klose said at his post-fight news conference. "Barboza was actually one of his favorite fighters. I know my brother's up there looking down on me right now." Klose said his 10th UFC win is an important benchmark because he wasn't expected to be here. "A lot of people can't say they've got 10 wins in the UFC," Klose told MMA Junkie. "To me, I still feel like a little poor kid from South Haven, Mich. I don't feel like anything special. Just to be able to do this in the UFC is amazing." Check out Klose's full post-fight interview in the video above.

Yoel Romero gets date, opponent for BKFC debut

Yoel Romero has inked his bareknuckle boxing debut. The former UFC title challenger is set to make his first appearance for BKFC against Theo Doukas at BKFC 80 on Sept. 12 at Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood, Fla. The bout will be contested at heavyweight. The news of Romero's debut was announced by the promotion on Tuesday. Romero, 48, signed with BKFC in July. He was coming off two KO finishes competing in Mike Perry's Dirty Boxing Championship – which is a striking competition with small gloves but doesn't involve any grappling or groundwork. "The Soldier of God" is mainly known for his 10-year run in the UFC where he fought for the middleweight title multiple times and cemented himself as one of the world's best. After his UFC departure, Romero had a short stint with Bellator and PFL, going 3-2. Although now competing in bareknuckle boxing, Romero told MMA Junkie last month that he's still looking to continue his MMA career. Romero's opponent, Doukas, will also be making his BKFC debut. Doukas has competed four times in MMA, going 2-2. His two victories have come by way of stoppage. He last competed in MMA in April 2024 and was submitted in the second round. He's also 1-0 in boxing.
