Digi libraries in 400 villages of Prayagraj to enhance learning experience of kids

Time of India24-05-2025
Prayagraj: The state govt will establish digital libraries in 400 villages across Prayagraj with an aim to provide modern educational resources for children and teenagers.
According to official sources, these digital libraries will be set up primarily in panchayat bhawans.
In cases where panchayat bhawans are unsuitable, alternative buildings will be identified.
The libraries will be equipped with desktop computers and LED screens with integrated cameras, allowing students to view books and study materials on large screens. In addition, the buildings will be made Wi-Fi enabled to ensure seamless digital access.
The library will consist of books from both national and local sources.
The National Book Trust will supply 50% of the books while the remaining will be sourced from local publishers. The libraries will also be furnished with desks, chairs and storage cabinets to create a conducive learning environment.
To oversee the implementation and operation of these digital libraries, a committee has been formed. The district magistrate will serve as the chairperson while the district panchayati raj officer (DPRO) will ex officio acting as the member secretary.
In some cases, minor repairs or construction may be needed to make the panchayat buildings suitable for the libraries. These expenses will be covered by the panchayat fund. Preparations are already underway, including the finalisation of the list of villages where the libraries will be established.

How to fix your Wi-Fi speed and range by moving everyday objects

Fed up with slow internet, endless buffering, and dead zones in your home? You might think the problem is your router or your internet service provider, but the real culprit could be hiding in plain sight, everyday household items! Mirrors, metal furniture, microwaves, Bluetooth devices, and even aquariums can block or reflect Wi-Fi signals, drastically reducing speed and shrinking coverage. The good news is that fixing this doesn't have to cost a rupee. By simply repositioning your router to a central, open area, ideally elevated and away from walls or corners and moving objects that interfere with the signal, you can dramatically improve speed, coverage, and stability. Even small changes, like clearing clutter or relocating electronics, can make a noticeable difference in performance. With these easy tweaks, you can enjoy faster downloads, smoother streaming, lag-free gaming, and uninterrupted video calls. No expensive gadgets, no complicated setups, just simple, practical adjustments that maximize your existing Wi-Fi. Sometimes the quickest way to a better internet experience is right in front of you, and it's free, fast, and surprisingly effective! Techno Mag Learn More Undo Mirrors and metal objects can sabotage your Wi-Fi Mirrors and large metal items, think filing cabinets, metal shelves, or decorative mirrors can reflect or absorb Wi-Fi signals. This causes your connection to bounce in all the wrong directions, weakening your signal. Keep your router away from reflective surfaces so your Wi-Fi can spread freely throughout your home. Bluetooth gadgets might be slowing your Wi-Fi down Devices like Amazon Alexa, Google Home, or other Bluetooth-enabled gadgets operate on the same radio frequencies as Wi-Fi. When your router is too close to these devices, signals collide and your internet slows down. Moving your router away from Bluetooth gadgets can immediately boost your connection stability. Microwave ovens affecting Wi-Fi waves: Not just for heating food Microwaves emit ultra-high frequency (UHF) waves that interfere with Wi-Fi. If your router lives near the kitchen, it's time for a move. Shifting it to another area can reduce disruptions and keep your connection strong, even during cooking marathons. Aquariums and water tanks can block Wi-Fi signals Water is a Wi-Fi signal killer. Large aquariums or water tanks can absorb and scatter signals, creating frustrating dead zones. Keep your router at a distance from any water-filled objects so your network reaches every corner of your home. Furniture can make your Wi-Fi work harder Heavy metal or wooden furniture can obstruct Wi-Fi signals. Routers hidden inside cabinets or behind big furniture struggle to cover your space. Placing your router in an open, central location ensures the signal spreads evenly and reaches all rooms. Walls and doors: silent Wi-Fi killers Thick walls and closed doors aren't just obstacles, they're Wi-Fi blockers. For the best coverage, place your router in a central, elevated spot with minimal obstructions. Open spaces allow signals to travel far and wide. You don't need costly upgrades or fancy gadgets to fix weak Wi-Fi at home. Often, simple adjustments can make a huge difference. Start by moving mirrors, metal objects, Bluetooth devices, microwaves, aquariums, and large pieces of furniture that might block or reflect signals. Next, position your router in a central, open area, preferably elevated and away from walls or corners. These small tweaks can significantly improve Wi-Fi speed, coverage, and stability, ensuring smoother streaming, faster downloads, uninterrupted work, and lag-free gaming. With just a few minutes of rearranging, you can transform your internet experience, it's quick, free, and surprisingly effective. Verizon Outage hits Keene and nearby areas: Here's what the company said

Verizon users in Keene and surrounding areas are experiencing widespread service outages. The issue started after a network failure which began early Wednesday morning. According to DownDetector, the outage started around 9.10 AM and has affected mobile data, voice calls, text messaging and wireless home internet services offered by Verizon. Due to the outage the Verizon users in the southwestern New Hampshire region are left without reliable cellular and data services. The DownDetector data reveals that due to the ongoing outage 54% users are facing issues with mobile phone, 24% are experiencing no signal and 22% are unable to access 5G home internet. While Keene is among the hardest hit, other cities such as New York, Atlanta, and Pittsburgh have also seen elevated outage reports Verizon outage: What the company said The Verizon support page shows that the telecom operator is working on a fix. The company has also activated its standard outage notification system to keep affected customers informed of repair progress. Verizon engineers have been working since mid-morning Wednesday to diagnose and resolve the issue. Initial repair estimates were pushed back after crews discovered additional complications. Verizon has advised users to enable Wi-Fi calling on their smartphones to maintain communication while the cellular network remains down. This feature allows calls and texts to be routed through Wi-Fi networks instead of relying on mobile signals. Verizon has not released detailed information about the root cause of the outage, following the company's typical practice of focusing on repair efforts rather than providing extensive technical explanations.
