Super Bowl 2025 odds: Best bets for Chiefs-Eagles
This is it.
We're down to the last football game this NFL season, and it should be a doozy between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans.

I've got five bets to make on Super Bowl LIX. Let's hope they all go as well as Kyle Juszczyk's props did last year. Remember, this space isn't the place for a million picks or five-teamers. These will always be the plays I love the most.
Let's go to work.
2024 Record: (50-46, -0.4 units)
Chiefs (-1, O/U 48.5) vs. Eagles
Let's start with the first quarter.
I believe in these defenses — and defensive coordinators — early.
Vic Fangio and Steve Spagnuolo are two of the best in the business and I expect the defenses to be ahead of the offenses early.
Don't discount all that extra time to prepare. Slice the game in quarters and go "Under" 9.5 points in the first frame.
Acceptable scores include 0-0, 3-0, 3-3, 6-0, 6-3 and 7-0.
7-2 works, too.
Elsewhere, I circled two tight ends in the game and Travis Kelce isn't one of them. I have no idea what to do with his props this weekend after he exploded against Houston and vanished against Buffalo.
Beats me.
That said, Noah Gray probably doesn't have a big target share on Sunday. The Chiefs have used him less and less as they've gotten healthier, and we all know this is Kelce's stage — a lot like it was Rob Gronkowski's stage in New England.
I'm shorting Gray's numbers on catches and receiving yards.
If you're looking for a longer shot, Dallas Goedert's price is pretty nice to score a touchdown. BetMGM is offering the best number in the market at +333.
The Chiefs can be beaten from the tight end position and if Goedert wins some one-on-one battles or breaks a tackle, he could easily reach paydirt.
As for the side, I bet Philadelphia late last week at +1.5. Yes, it's still good at +1. Multiple Las Vegas bookmakers told me and Chris "The Bear" Fallica there's a strong chance the Eagles go off the favorite. We'll see. Philly's roster is better across the board and the offensive and defensive lines are elite.
The Eagles have the blueprint to run all over Kansas City. Let's hope Nick Sirianni and Kellen Moore lean on Saquon Barkley and Jalen Hurts in the running game and that they avoid the big turnovers.
I don't love betting against Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid, but what's done is done.

Kendall Lamm praises Eagles for their culture while simultaneously throwing shade at the Dolphins. It's completely understandable if everyone hasn't thought about this. Still, it's hard to avoid asking the question, seeing as we've heard so many stories about the Miami Dolphins running Vic Fangio out of town. What might they be thinking? Did they see the Philadelphia Eagles dismantle the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 59? One could argue the Dolphins could have used that type of punch last season, but who cares, right? Their loss is Philadelphia's gain. What's the point, you ask? It's great you asked that question. Had this been about Fangio only, Kendall Lamm's recent comments may not have caught our attention. Kendall Lamm praises the Eagles' culture while taking a dig at his former team. Things have been relatively quiet since the Eagles closed the door on spring workouts, but no one believes Philadelphia is sitting idle. There's always the constant spectre of news breaking from the NovaCare Complex at any time. We didn't know that news would come by way of a reserve lineman. Lamm joined the Eagles by way of a one-year deal at the end of March. It seemed he'd compete for a reserve role along Philadelphia's offensive line. He recently spoke with ESPN. As you might expect, he was asked about his current team and his former. FinsXtra shared his quote: Now, here's the thing. From a journalistic perspective, this is completely impartial (wink) but further evidence of a theory that is often expressed. Philadelphia is one of the league's model franchises. One can certainly do a lot worse than being an Eagles fan. Lamm used words like "late" and "toxic". Ouch... He seemed equally excited about sharing his joy about being in Philadelphia and his opportunity to take a shot at his former team. That brings us back to the Eagles' defensive coordinator hire in 2024. Upon further review, despite the complaints from players following Fangio's exit, it appears that Fangio may not have been one of Miami's true issues. None of the young players or the veterans in Philadelphia seems to be complaining. They have consistently praised Coach Fangio for his coaching style. Too often, we mentioned players for being spoiled and coddled. Most of us weren't there, so we can't make that claim about the Dolphins. We don't know what's happening in Miami, but if that's the case, it may explain why they continue to underachieve in South Florida. Stay tuned. Discussions might be born at some point about a talented team that doesn't want to be pushed past its comfort level for the sake of being better. When that happens, nothing good follows. Did we mention how fortunate Birds fans are? It makes you appreciate Nick Sirianni more. No one had better make disparaging comments about his coaching style again.

Chiefs just finished up mandatory minicamp. Here are 3 of the top takeaways
The Kansas City Chiefs completed this week's three-day mandatory minicamp with a required run test at the team facility Thursday morning. So what did we learn about the team at these practices ahead of next month's training camp? Advertisement Here are three takeaways from the last few days. Offensive line optimism This week only continued the most significant development over the past month: Rookie left tackle Josh Simmons has far exceeded what the Chiefs had hoped to get out of him at this point in the offseason. Simmons, coming off knee surgery in October, participated in full team reps during the entirety of this week's mandatory minicamp. And though free-agent signing Jaylon Moore remains squarely in the mix — he missed team reps because of an undisclosed injury — it seems likely that Simmons will get the first left tackle rep for the start of training camp in July. Chiefs coach Andy Reid continued his praise for Simmons during Thursday's press conference when he was asked if he could foresee Simmons 'starting or being a contributor this year.' He's approached everything the right way, plus a little bit extra.' Reid specifically lauded Simmons for his recovery work. Chiefs trainer Rick Burkholder, during an interview broadcast to fans at Tuesday's minicamp practice, said that Simmons was one of the first players in the building and one of the last ones out while trying to get his knee to full strength. 'If you just want to look at his rehab, you could see he had a mindset that, 'I'm going to get in there. It's not going to be training camp. It's going to be now,' and he worked his tail off to get there,' Reid said. 'So you respect that part of it.' Speaking of potential new starters ... second-year player Kingsley Suamataia had a good past week while continuing his transition to left guard. Advertisement The Chiefs' 2024 second-round pick — following a failed stint at left tackle last season — appears to be regaining confidence while gaining comfort from the fact that he has teammates around him in his new position, as opposed to being left on an island at tackle. Though there still will be competition at the left guard spot — Mike Caliendo and Hunter Nourzad are candidates — Suamataia should be considered the favorite, especially if he's able to free his mind so his excellent athleticism can play up. Chiefs' risers at receiver The Chiefs' top-5 receiver spots for 2025 seem mostly set: Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy, Hollywood Brown, Jalen Royals and JuJu Smith-Schuster. Advertisement That leaves one — and perhaps if we're stretching it, two — wideout spots still available on the roster. A few under-the-radar players have had strong weeks, potentially putting themselves in the mix. That starts with Tyquan Thornton, a former Patriots second-round pick who joined the Chiefs practice squad last season. The speedy Thornton fits the Chiefs' 'type' when it comes to speed on the outside. He's caught multiple downfield passes in practice from quarterback Patrick Mahomes, and also seems to be taking some of those field-spacing deep routes previously held by former players Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Justin Watson. Reid spoke Thursday about what he'd seen recently from Thornton. Advertisement 'I like Tyquan. I like the way he's approached things,' Reid said. 'He's got the quarterback's trust, which that's a positive thing. He got valuable reps in here. The other guys could see that he's a talented guy. So, so far so good. I'd like to see him in a game situation, how he handles that.' Another dark horse to watch would be former Jets receiver Jason Brownlee, who made a few standout catches in camp while grabbing the attention of some in the facility. Chiefs 2022 second-round pick Skyy Moore has been productive in practices but also needs to regain trust after previous inconsistent play. Nikko Remigio's best shot to earn a spot will be as a returner, while Justyn Ross has a specialty if the Chiefs want to go with a jump-ball, red-zone-type weapon. Rookies showing progress Chiefs linebacker Nick Bolton said he did some early review of rookie defensive linemen Omarr Norman-Lott and Ashton Gillotte while studying their rookie minicamp practice film on his iPad. Advertisement So what did he see? 'I was super-surprised about how smart those guys were,' Bolton said Thursday, 'how focused they were, how self-driven they were.' Chiefs linebacker Nick Bolton spoke to the media on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at the team's training facility in Kansas City. This continues a theme from recent weeks, with Chiefs players and coaches speaking highly of the 2025 rookie class. Reid even broke with tradition this week, with the Chiefs announcing they would not be bringing their rookies to training camp a few days early. Reid saw no need for that this year, with those guys getting in extra work over the last month. Mahomes also went out of his way to compliment the team's new crop of players. 'It's kind of cool to see. I don't know if it's like an NIL thing, or guys staying in college longer, but it's a very mature group,' Mahomes said Wednesday. 'It's guys that come in, and they know how to work. They know how to get after it, but they're learning quickly.' Advertisement And though many rookies will have a chance to make an impact, perhaps none will be more important than Simmons, who has the potential to earn a starting spot right away. 'We'll just see. We'll see,' Reid said. 'We know what training camp does. It's different when things are flying fast up there and you're going full contact and pads on. We'll see how he does.'

New Texans DB C.J. Gardner-Johnson listed as extension candidate before taking field originally appeared on Athlon Sports. When the Texans made the move to acquire an anchor in the secondary earlier in the offseason, there were some questions around the long-term impact of the move. The organization moved on from one of its former first-round picks, guard Kenyon Green, but got one of the league's premier safeties in return. Advertisement While he hasn't taken a snap in Houston yet, that hasn't stopped the predictions from rolling in about new defensive cornerstone C.J. Gardner-Johnson. Recently, Moe Moton from Bleacher Report listed the Space City safety as the Texan who is most important for the organization to lock up for the long haul. Texans defensive back C.J. Gardner-Johnson was listed by Bleacher Report as the top candidate for an extension in Houston heading into the 2025 NFL Season.© Mark J. Rebilas-Imagn Images "Typically, teams should wait for a new acquisition to take a snap before signing him to a new deal, but Gardner-Johnson is past the prove-it stage of his career," Moton said of the new Houston defensive back in his article. "He logged six interceptions in two of the last three seasons, recorded 12 pass breakups last year and plays multiple positions at a high level. The Texans know what they acquired when they traded for him. He's an underpaid addition with only $2 million guaranteed on his contract for the year." The full trade between the Philadelphia Eagles and Houston Texans back in early March included Gardner-Johnson and a 2026 sixth-round pick going to Houston while the Eagles got the aforementioned Kenyon Green and a 2025 fifth-round pick that turned into linebacker Smael Mondon Jr. Advertisement As Moton mentioned in his explanation for choosing Gardner-Johnson, the seventh-year defensive back has entered a stage in his career where he is veteran who has proved his worth and brings more than on-field skill to the organization. Across 74 games in his career, he has 18 interceptions, 51 pass deflections and 2 forced fumbles. His 2024 campaign was one of his best, with him tying his career high in interceptions with 6 and running one back 69 yards for his first career pick six in Week 17 against the Dallas Cowboys. Gardner-Johnson's impact extends beyond the field. The veteran has an off-field presence that is one of the biggest in the league and he will be a vocal lead in a deep defensive backs group this year in Houston. Advertisement "He [Gardner-Johnson] gonna bring a whole nother, like, just.. like Kamari [Lassiter], like craziness," Texans cornerback and defensive captain Derek Stingley Jr. told the media after the trade news broke. "I think he'll gel well with the rest of us and we're just gonna go out there and have fun." Now, it's a waiting game to see if Houston decides to lock up its new playmaker long term.
