Turn Amaravati into city with largest lung space, Andhra CM urges officials

Amaravati, Jul 31 (PTI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday directed officials to turn the greenfield capital Amaravati into a city with the largest lung space.
The Chief Minister directed officials to implement a green action plan under the concept 'Amaravati in Nature'.
'Turn capital Amaravati into a city with the largest lung space with Amaravati in Nature concept," said Naidu in the press release.
Naidu reviewed Amaravati beautification and green – blue master plan today at the secretariat.
He directed officials to ensure that the trunk roads, connected roads, roads built near layouts, green zones, buffer zones, traffic intersections and others are all appealing to the eye.
Likewise, he instructed officials to carry out avenue plantations along the roads, including constructing worldclass parks in the greenfield capital city.
Similarly, the CM instructed officials to sow medicinal plants in Amaravati, along with indigenous trees in the green belt and buffer zones, and turn the riverfront into an exciting place.
According to Naidu, Amaravti should become a place which will give rise to different coloured flowers in different seasons.
As part of beautifying Amaravati, he instructed officials to study places like Bengaluru and Singapore and advised them to name different parks after various countries and also grow flowering plants from those countries, among other guidelines. PTI STH ADB

MNS workers vandalise dance bar in Navi Mumbai: ‘Will not allow…'

The video of the incident has gone viral on social media. It shows shattered glass, broken tables, and ransacked interiors. The incident echoes the MNS party's longstanding cultural and ethical position, presenting itself as an upholder of Maharashtrian values and tradition. Police have launched an investigation into the incident. "We have taken cognisance and begun a probe. "We are gathering the CCTV footage and recording the statements of witnesses. Nobody is above the law," the official said to reporters. But no arrests have yet been made in the case. While the bar's owners have yet to issue a public statement, sources say the establishment suffered significant financial damage.

ECI abusing its powers, must be fought politically, legally: Chidambaram
New Delhi, Aug 3 (PTI) Amid the raging row over the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in Bihar, senior Congress leader P Chidambaram on Sunday alleged that the Election Commission is trying to change the electoral character and patterns of states, and asserted that this 'abuse of powers" must be fought politically and legally. The former home minister said the Bihar voter revision exercise is getting curiouser and curiouser. While 65 lakh voters are in danger of being disenfranchised in Bihar, reports of 'adding' 6.5 lakh persons as voters in Tamil Nadu is alarming and patently illegal, Chidambaram said in a post on X. 'Calling them 'permanently migrated' is an insult to the migrant workers and a gross interference in the right of the electorate of Tamil Nadu to elect a government of its choice," the Rajya Sabha MP said. Why should the migrant worker not return to Bihar or his/her home state to vote in the State Assembly election, as they usually do, Chidambaram asked. 'Does not the migrant worker return to Bihar at the time of the Chhath puja festival?" he said. 'A person to be enrolled as a voter must have a fixed and permanent legal home. The migrant worker has such a home in Bihar (or another state). How can he/she be enrolled as a voter in Tamil Nadu?" Chidambaram said. If the migrant worker's family has a permanent home in Bihar and lives in Bihar, how can the migrant worker be considered as 'permanently migrated" to Tamil Nadu, he further asked. 'The ECI is abusing its powers and trying to change the electoral character and patterns of States. This abuse of powers must be fought politically and legally," Chidambaram said. The opposition has been protesting in both Houses of Parliament against the SIR, alleging the EC's exercise was aimed at 'disenfranchising voters" in Bihar ahead of the Assembly elections.
