'Viral cop' nabbed for sedition charges
According to a spot report from the NCRPO, Fontillas was nabbed at around 4 p.m. along Commonwealth, Quezon City on Monday through a warrant of arrest issued by the Quezon City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 224.
'[The] case is already in court… Wala na po sa PNP (It is no longer with the Philippine National Police),' said NCRPO spokesperson Police Major Hazel Asilo.
Fontillas' bail was set at P36,000.
Cases of incitement to sedition were filed against Fontillas on March 18 following his criticism of Duterte's arrest, which he claimed was only his stand and an exercise of his freedom of expression.
In a previous post on his Facebook account, Fontillias questioned the complaint filed against him, saying he only expressed his stand.
"Inciting to sedition daw 'ýung ginawa ko? Hahaha. Okay lang ba kayo? I only expressed my stand and my principles. Where's our right to freedom of expression now? Kawawa naman ang Pilipinas. Hahaha," he said.
Fontillas was dismissed from service for grave misconduct on May 8, 2025.
The PNP previously stressed its zero tolerance for political bias among its ranks and reminded personnel to remain apolitical and uphold the highest ethical standards in their official duties and personal conduct, including their presence on social media.
'PNP officers shall remain apolitical and non-partisan at all times and we must refrain from posting unauthorized and biased contents in social media and other communication platforms,' the Quezon City Police District said. —VAL, GMA Integrated News

Camilon's car was last seen going through some towns in Batangas via CCTV footage on October 12, 2023. Witnesses later claimed that they saw a bloodied Camilon being transferred to a different vehicle on the same day, while Magpantay was in the area. 2 kidnap victims rescued, 4 Chinese nabbed in Parañaque ops
Two kidnapping victims were rescued while four Chinese nationals who allegedly abducted them were arrested in an operation in Parañaque City on Saturday, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday. 'Apat na Chinese nationals ang ating naaresto na naman ng Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG) na sangkot sa kasong kidnapping na naganap sa isang kilalang resort sa Paranaque City,' PNP chief Police General Nicolas Torre III said in a press briefing. The kidnapping happened after a 30-year-old Chinese national asked for assistance from the suspects for the foreign currency exchange and transfer of P150,000 to China. The victim initially released P100,000. Torre said the suspects convinced the victim to go with them to a resort casino to finalize the transaction but it led to a kidnapping. The suspects were allegedly forcing the victim to transfer an amount of 50,000 USDT from his cryptocurrency wallet. According to Torre, the victim asked the suspects for his phone to contact his family. The victim secretly reached out to another Chinese national who sought help from the local police through a 911 call. Palace sad over MILF decommissioning delay, eyes deeper talks
The Philippine government will discuss thoroughly with concerned parties the decision of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) to suspend the decommissioning of its remaining combatants and weapons. Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro said at a press briefing Friday that the information already reached President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. 'Yes po medyo nakalulungkot po na balita 'yan dahil alam naman po natin na ang gobyerno po ay talagang naglalaan ng pondo para sa magandang kinabukasan ng mga nagnanais na bumalik at magkaroon ng normal na buhay,' Castro said. (Yes, that is sad news since we all know that the government allots funds to provide better future for those combatants who want to go back to their normal lives.) Castro mentioned the forms of aid given to MILF combatants, including the P100,000 cash assistance for each MILF combatant as well as other socio-economic programs. 'So siguro lamang po ay mas kinakailangan pa ng mas lalimang pag-uusap para mas maging maganda ang kahihinatnan nito para rin sa miyembro ng MILF,' she said.
