Hendry Aceituno Gudiño, of Riviera Beach, was reportedly returning from a celebratory dinner when the single-car collision occurred
'It's a tragic death, and I think nobody deserves to die like that,' said his mom, Anielka GudiñoA Florida high school student has died after he was in a car crash hours after his graduation.
Hendry Aceituno Gudiño, 18, of Riviera Beach, was with his girlfriend and her father when the fatal crash occurred in Martin County on Saturday, May 17, according to NBC affiliate WPTV and FOX affiliate WFLX.
Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) said the car slammed into a guardrail near the Martin Highway exit after the 52-year-old driver lost control of the vehicle, CBS affiliate WPEC reported.
Both the driver and Hendry were pronounced dead at the scene, per WPTV. The 16-year-old girl who was also inside the vehicle was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Hendry had reportedly graduated from Boca Raton Community High School just hours before the crash occurred. He was returning home from a celebratory dinner when the crash took place.
The teen and his mom, Anielka Gudiño, moved to Florida from Venezuela in 2023, according to WPTV. Anielka told the station that her son 'had a whole life ahead of him.'
'It's a tragic death, and I think nobody deserves to die like that,' Anielka said. 'Very painful. Everything is painful. A teen full of life, 18 years old.'
She later added, 'I'm going to miss him so much. It was him and I. This is all going to be so difficult for me.'
As of Tuesday, May 20, more than $5,400 has been raised through a GoFundMe campaign started to support Hendry's family following the crash.
In an email to families on Monday, May 19, high school principal Dr. Suzanne King expressed 'heartfelt condolences' to Hendry's family and said the school would 'offer support' to them, according to WPEC.

'Grief support, including school counselors and school psychologists, will be available on campus today for our students and staff to ensure they have the emotional support they may need to help them through this difficult time,' King wrote. 'If you believe your child would benefit from speaking with someone, please encourage them to do so.'
She later added, 'At Boca Raton High School, we are a community that supports one another. Together, we will navigate this difficult time."
Neither FHP nor Boca Raton Community High School immediately responded to PEOPLE's request for comment.

2 motorcyclists injured when they hit a 6-foot alligator on I-4 in Orange City

This story has been updated with new information and to add a video. Two Volusia County motorcyclists and a 6-foot alligator were injured Saturday when the motorcycles struck the gator on Interstate 4 in Orange City, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The crash occurred at approximately 6:08 p.m. in the westbound lanes of I-4 in the area of mile marker 110 in Orange City, according to FHP. FHP Lt. Tara Crescenzi wrote in an email that while she imagined there have been other accidents involving gators statewide, she was unaware of any others recently in Central Florida. A 67-year-old DeLeon Springs man and a 25-year-old Orange City woman were traveling westbound in the inside lane, which is the closest lane to the median, when they struck the alligator, FHP stated. The impact caused both motorcycles to veer to the left off the highway. The man's motorcycle entered the wood line and struck a tree. The woman's motorcycle left the roadway but did not go as far as the wood line. The man was riding a 2022 Suzuki GSX-R1000R and the woman was riding a 2021 Kawasaki Ninja 650. Both riders were transported to HCA Lake Monroe Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission was called to help with the injured gator. FWC spokesman Chad Weber said the gator was about 6 feet long. He said the FWC called a trapper to remove the gator and the trapper would decide what to do with the gator, including whether to euthanize it. Weber said it's not unusual for an alligator to seek the warmth of a road since the pavement retains heat from the day's sunlight. He said he lives in Lake County and he occasionally sees gators on roads. He said for more information about alligators, people could check the commission's website at The crash remains under investigation. Search group warns against fake fundraiser exploiting two children missing in N.S.

HALIFAX - Halifax Search and Rescue is warning against fraudsters impersonating their group who claim they'll use donated cash to search for two missing children. Paul Service, director of the volunteer organization, says a GoFundMe campaign attempted to raise $100,000 to fund a drone to search for four-year-old Jack Sullivan and six-year-old Lilly Sullivan. A large-scale search was launched for the two children after they disappeared on May 2 in Lansdowne Station, N.S., and there have been two, smaller efforts since then involving volunteer searchers. The non-profit group says it doesn't normally request donations through GoFundMe and doesn't base its campaigns on particular searches. Service says a representative from GoFundMe contacted him to say it was taking down the site and investigating after the campaign was reported on CBC. He says that it is disheartening for his group to have to cope with scams, as it may discourage the public from donating to his group's legitimate fundraising efforts.
