BRANFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — It's Read Across America Week as schools around the state observe Dr. Seuss' birthday with a celebration of reading!
News 8's Laura Hutchinson was invited to be a community guest reader at East Shoreline Catholic Academy in Branford.
She visited a third grade classroom and read the book 'Spaghetti in a Hot Dog Bun' which is a story all about showing kindness to others and being true to yourself.
It was a great visit for Laura and the students who had fun talking about the book and sharing their own personal stories.

Gamers anticipate Nintendo Switch 2 in North Haven
NORTH HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Video game fans spent hours camped outside of GameStop in North Haven on Wednesday, anticipating the release of the Nintendo Switch 2. Excited gamers wrapped around the building, hoping to get vouchers sold by the store starting at 3 p.m. The vouchers could be used to purchase the console starting at midnight. Which stores are hosting midnight releases for the Nintendo Switch 2? 'It's a lot of nostalgia for us Nintendo junkies,' said Northford resident Timothy Deantonio. 'We all love Pokemon and Mario and Zelda.' Some customers waited in line with others in mind. 'For my son, his birthday is next week and he's a big fan of Switch, Nintendo just all the way around,' said Marcia Tourangeau of New Haven. Others are looking forward to using the device to spend quality time with their families. 'I think Nintendo just offers a family-friendly gaming system that my kids from 5 to me can still enjoy the titles that they put out,' Justin Messina of Hamden said. Grand Rapids institution Yesterdog sells to new owners
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Yesterdog, the iconic late-night hot dog spot in Eastown Grand Rapids, has sold after almost five decades. Owner Bill Lewis, who opened Yesterdog in 1976 at 1505 Wealthy St. near Lake Drive, told News 8 over the phone Monday that he officially sold it Sunday. After discussing the sale for a few months, Lewis made the decision to sell to the new owner, Pat Connor. 'I started to think seriously about selling it — and I just turned 80 in May,' Lewis said. With a vintage 1930s aesthetic, the cash-only restaurant is a go-to spot for many Grand Rapidians for lunch or a late-night hot dog. NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Starting Monday, Connecticut has taken its efforts to claim the title of 'Pizza Capital of the U.S.' to new heights. Roughly five billboards and six subway live boards now span New York City, trolling the city by reading messages like 'Hey New York pizza, there's no shame in 2nd place' and 'The nation's best pizza. Not you New York.' Modern Apizza takes 'Connecticut Pizza Trail' crown The messages even appear in high-traffic areas like Times Square and Mott Street. It's part of a campaign launched by the Connecticut Office of Statewide Marketing & Tourism. The billboards also invite people to call 1-844-CTPIZZA or visit to weigh in on what state's pizza reigns. 'As a former long-time New York City resident, I'll admit their pizza is good,' Anthony Anthony, the chief marketing officer for the State of Connecticut said. 'But it isn't the nation's best.
