Shahid Kapoor's Wife Mira Kapoor On 'Star Wife' Tag: 'Nobody Ever Says Star Husband'
Mira Kapoor, wife of Shahid Kapoor, criticises labels like 'star wife' and 'star kid', questioning their relevance.
Mira Rajput, who has steadily built a space of her own — from launching a wellness and skincare brand to running a YouTube channel — has often found herself labelled as a 'star wife." But she's now speaking up about the terms often attached to her and others who are related to actors. Appearing on Social Media Star With Janice (Season 5), Mira shared her thoughts on the term 'star kid" and why she believes it's time the industry moved on from it.
Mira said people use the term 'star kid" to help remember someone, but it now feels negative because of nepotism. 'Maybe it was an association that one needed to make for recall value. But even if you put that on a kid and you say star kid, people don't like listening to star kid for all of its nepotistic connotations. Yet, that term is still in use — it needs to kind of find its way out," she said.
Mira also addressed the persistent use of the label 'star wife" and questioned its relevance. 'I have never understood the concept of a star wife, what does that mean? You can have an actor, a celebrity, or a star who has a wife or a husband — but nobody ever says star husband. Why is there a star wife?"
Mira Rajput married actor Shahid Kapoor when she was just 21. The couple, who have a 13-year age difference, are now parents to two children — Misha and Zain. In a previous chat with influencers Naina Bhan and Sakshi Shivdasani, Mira spoke candidly about the emotional struggles she experienced in the early years of marriage. 'I think we (Mira and her friends) did evolve separately. I'd like to admit that it was quite isolating because we were just in different phases of life at that time. You get to different phases in life, and you look at your friends. I wish I could do what she's doing," she had said.
