CCEA green-flags railway projects worth Rs 6,405 cr
New Delhi: The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Wednesday approved two multi-tracking projects across the Indian Railways network, entailing an investment of Rs. 6,405 crore. The first project relates to the doubling of the 133 km Koderma–Barkakana railway line, which passes through a major coal-producing area of Jharkhand.
It also serves as the shortest and efficient rail link between Patna and Ranchi. The second project involves doubling of the 185 km Ballari–Chikjajur railway line, which traverses through Ballari and Chitradurga districts of Karnataka and Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh.
The two projects covering seven districts across the states of Jharkhand, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh will increase the existing network of Indian Railways by about 318 km and are expected to generate direct employment for about 108 lakh human-days during construction, the official statement said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday that his government in its 11 years has brought innumerable benefits for people by leveraging the power of technology and credited the role of youngsters in shaping and driving many of these changes. 'Leveraging the power of technology has brought innumerable benefits for people. Service delivery and transparency have been greatly boosted. Furthermore, technology has become a means of empowering the lives of the poorest of poor,' PM Modi wrote on X. The PM reposted an X thread by the IT ministry-led MyGovIndia summarising key digital developments over the past decade. Titled 'Tech it to the top,' the thread highlighted a 2,500-fold increase in Unified Payment Interface (UPI) transaction volumes over the last eight years, and its expansion to over seven countries including a recent entry into Europe via France. According to the recent National Statistical Office's Comprehensive Modular Survey: Telecom 2025, nearly 99.5% of Indians aged 15 to 29 years who can make online banking transactions said they are capable of using UPI for digital payments. In a separate post, the government shared updates on its Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system, which it said has helped transfer over ₹44 lakh crore across 322 schemes and saved ₹3.48 lakh crore by cutting out leakages. The scale-up of Aadhaar, now used by over 1.4 billion people, was also presented as a pillar of digital governance. The thread also touched on drone innovation, mentioning how it has empowered rural women in initiatives like 'Drone Didis' to strategic deployments in Operation Sindoor. 'Our self-reliance is soaring with 550+ Indian drone companies emerging, and 14,000+ SwaYaan beneficiaries ready to fly,' said the post. In the field of artificial intelligence, the government said it has supported the development of AI Centres of Excellence and AI tools such as Chitralekha (an open-source video transcreation platform) and Everest 1.0 (a multilingual AI model developed under the Hanooman project). The government also lauded the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), a ₹1.55 lakh crore production-PLI scheme aimed at attracting investment and promoting local chip design. The mission was launched by the IT ministry in 2021, and has so far approved six semiconductor units across Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Assam, with many more to be announced soon. In the space sector, ISRO's launch of 393 foreign satellites was cited as a marker of progress, along with a proposed goal of setting up a Bharatiya Antariksh Station (BAS) by 2035. Finally, the government noted that its digital literacy campaign in rural areas, PMGDISHA, had trained over 6.3 crore individuals achieving its targets ahead of schedule. The campaign comes as part of a broader effort by the government to showcase achievements across sectors, as it completes over a decade in office since PM Modi took office on May 26, 2014.

First anniversary of NDA govt celebrated
Rajamahendravaram: The first anniversary of the TDP–Jana Sena–BJP alliance government was celebrated with great enthusiasm at 3rd Ward Rachabanda in Rajamahendravaram on Thursday. The event was organised under the leadership of State Settibalija Corporation Chairman Kudpudi Sattibabu. As part of the celebrations, a cake was cut and sweets were distributed among locals. Speaking on the occasion, Sattibabu praised Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu for leading a people-centric and development-oriented government. He criticisedthe previous administration for pushing the state into a financial crisis with over Rs 10 lakh crore in debts and said that the current government is steadily moving the state towards fiscal stability and growth. 'Chandrababu Naidu is focusing equally on welfare and development, which are the two eyes of progress,' he stated. He also extended congratulations to Education Minister Nara Lokesh and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, explaining their contributions to the government's performance. Sattibabu lauded the recently launched 'Talliki Vandanam' scheme, calling it a significant step towards women's empowerment. He also commended the Chief Minister for announcing 10% liquor shop reservations for toddy tappers, a move he said would be remembered forever by the Geetha (toddy-tapper) community. Local leaders, party workers, and residents took part in the event, which reflected growing public support for the alliance government's initiatives.

Yadagirigutta board eludes as two mantris flex their muscles
Hyderabad: Group politics within the ruling Congress party in Nalgonda district have reportedly delayed the constitution of the Yadagirigutta Temple Development (YTD) Trust Board, intended to be modelled on the lines of the renowned Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) in Tirupati. Ministers such as N Uttam Kumar Reddy and the Komatireddy brothers are understood to be actively lobbying to secure positions for their nominees on the Trust Board. The State government had made a clear decision to establish YTD, drawing inspiration from the TTD. A senior official confirmed that the government intends to constitute trust boards for temples with an annual revenue exceeding Rs 100 crore. As the Yadagirigutta Temple falls into this category, a trust board is slated for formation. To facilitate this, the government amended The Telangana Charitable and Hindu Religious Institutions and Endowments Amendment Act 2025 in March of this year. However, sources indicate that the initiative has stalled due to internal group politics within Nalgonda district. It is understood that information was already conveyed to public representatives in the district, but the response has been negative, with officials being asked to postpone the matter for a few days. Several MLAs from the district are reportedly eyeing positions on the board, given Yadagirigutta's annual income of Rs 224 crore. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy recently instructed officials to swiftly establish the board, mirroring the TTD structure, with the aim of enhancing the management and development of the significant pilgrimage site. While the TTD Board comprises 29 members, the proposed YTD will have 18 members. This includes a Chairman, nine other members, one member from the State Legislative Assembly or Council, one each from the Scheduled Castes (SC), Backward Classes (BC), and Women categories, and one member from the founder trustee family. Four ex officio members, including the Principal Secretary Revenue, the Commissioner of Endowments, and the Executive Officer of Yadagirigutta temple, will also sit on the board. The Board's tenure will be for two years, with members receiving no salary but entitled to Travelling Allowance and Dearness Allowance. Officials stated that the government would issue a formal notification for the trust board's formation once they receive a go ahead from higher authorities.
